  1. There is no such thing as too many Black Sabbath and Status Quo concerts 🙂
  2. How many miles(km) has your LS done? Mine is 2007 with 93,000 miles (150,000) km and I have had no problems. I get mine serviced at a Lexus dealer and I'm sure that they would flag up any possible work for themselves. At the last annual check I asked them to pay particular attention to the steering and suspension; they gave it a clean bill of health. It is worth getting a dealer to do any software updates, especially those which cover the engine and gearbox. The wind noise problem isn't universal - mine doesn't suffer from it - but I do know of the 'Jim Craney' fix.
  3. Look after yourself, young man. I hope we'll see you back here when you get over your 'testosterone surfeit'. 🙂
  4. The 460 has an automatic parking brake selection which applies the parking brake every time 'Park' is selected on the gear shift. Totally agree about the soft close door function.
  5. I'm pretty sure they all have air suspension. I have, certainly, never heard of a European 460 with coils. For what it's worth, I'm coming up to 95,000 miles on mine and have had no problems. Mind you, I don't very often drive on those bloody awful British roads. A few years ago, I was given a tip by the dealer which I follow...…….every month I go through all the suspension and gearbox selections, driving about 10 miles in each, just to exercise the various modes. At the same time I run the airco to full cold for 10 minutes to check out the compressor then full hot for the same length of time. The 'full hot' kills any fungal growth in the ducting.
  6. I have a 2007 460...…..it has Bluetooth but I don't know about playing music direct from your phone - I've never tried. The maps are easy to update and not expensive. I don't have the rear entertainment package...…….no kids, so don't need it 🙂
  7. Martin, Personally, I'd be very wary of a car with no history, and that frozen screen could very expensive to fix. Owning an LS is an absolute pleasure but not at any cost.
  8. The melting interior problem seems to affect cars in the really hot parts of the USA. I notice that Lexus USA will replace the trim, as necessary, FOC. I haven't had any problems at all.....in 'sunny' Holland...….and my car spends most of its time outside.
  9. This is the US LS460/600 forum...….https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-4th-gen-2007-2017-178/ You'll get all the answers you want there. I use it a lot.
  10. As George says, it's the EU regs which are causing this. I use a VPN to circumvent this.
  11. Bob, I live in Holland and, also, own a 2007 LS460. As many people have said, if you'd bought a Merc, Audi or BMW, nothing would have been said. It's the same here in Holland...….nearly all big cars are German. I've owned an LS (400 or 460) since 1997 and I don't want anything else. Enjoy your new car and smile smugly when you see the look on friends and acquaintances faces when they ride in the car.
  12. And, even though there was a nut and a couple of washers left over...…….the car still ran perfectly.😁
  13. Cliff, I agree with Herbs...…..I, too, am at an age where I can no longer bend double in a footwell. My future health is important to me - so I, reluctantly, pay an expert to do things which are now beyond me.
  14. Cliff, That's the list supplied by Lexus but it doesn't tell you if any thing has been added and uses that power source.
  15. I know you like to do all your own work but, if it continues, it might be worth getting a really good auto electrician to have a look. I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a tracking device - fitted when the car was new but, supposedly, deactivated - that was draining the battery if I left the car for more than four days.
  16. On the US forum, the guy said that he noticed transmission fluid in his coolant reservoir. That prompted him to go for the new radiator. I suggest it might be a good idea for all of us 430/460 owners to check our coolant reservoirs regularly until we decide to change the radiator.
  17. Ever since Malc mentioned the 460 radiator problem, I've been trying to get a verification of it. I posted a question on the US forum and got the reply that I DIDN'T want: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-4th-gen-2007-2017/910097-transmission-cooling.html Thanks Malc, I'll start checking my coolant overflow tank and arrange a radiator change on my next service. BTW Oil 5w-30 is pretty standard.
  18. Welcome to the LOC. I haven't had any wind noise problems on my 460 but this is the solution advocated on the US forum: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-4th-gen-2007-2017/506217-instructions-for-the-jmcraney-wind-noise-fix.html
  19. I live in Holland and, here, EACH battery came with a 3 year guarantee. I'm afraid I don't follow the logic of 'from the date of buying the first battery'.
  20. Phil, The dealer told me that it wasn't easy to find. The idea being, of course, that being hidden it would be almost impossible to disable. I think the thing that spurred them to find it was the fact that the new batteries, being under 3 year guarantee, were costing them money.
  21. I had the same problem on my 460 - 3 batteries in 5 years, all from the dealer. They spent a day checking the car out and found the problem...……...when the car was new, the original owner had fitted a tracking device, in case it was stolen. The tracking devices come with the first 2 years 'free'. Then you have to pay a subscription - which they didn't bother with. However, the device is still sitting there, using a small amount of power. Once it was disconnected, the problem disappeared. By the way, the original owner was ANOTHER Lexus dealer - it was the demo car. 🙂
  22. I don't think that tars all 430s with the same brush. I would want to know how the car was treated by previous owners.
  23. Qamar, you and Malc should start your own forum. You could call it '400 perfect...…..everything else rubbish' 🙂
  24. I had the steering rack problem 3 years ago ( VSC light on, steering wheel 45 degrees off when driving straight). I had read about the problem on the US forum and was dreading a huge bill. I took it to my local Lexus dealer, in The Hague, who have been looking after me since my 400 days. They hadn't seen the problem before but, when I told them about the US forum and replacing the steering rack, they just refused to believe it could be a rack change. They plugged in the diagnostic tool and confirmed that ONE of the codes indicated changing the rack. However, they were convinced it was an electronic problem and, after doing a complete reset of all the computers, they discovered that the problem was a corrupt program in the 'Self Park' system - which I never use. They reset everything and I haven't had a problem since. I wonder how many owners have had new steering racks that were not needed. As we often say on the forum...…...getting a good garage to service your car is a must. My local dealer also does discounts......I had 4 new tyres fitted in November. I got a quote from KwikFit and the dealer matched it!
  25. If the price is right, go for it. When I moved to Holland I had to let my 400 go. I decided to get an RX400h...…….a nice car but, as my good lady said, 'It's not an LS'. So, after a very short time, the RX went and I bought a 2007 460 - exactly the same as the one you have been offered. That was 6 years ago and I haven't regretted it. The LS (any variety) is a mighty beast and a joy to own and drive. Apart from the few months with the RX, I have been an LS owner since 1997. The LS is, and always has been, my daily drive. I hope this helps your decision......if you want to know any more, just ask.
