  1. I'm in Holland and there are only a few here. I concur with what Malc says wrt the radiator change. I had mine done at 100,000 miles and the mechanic said that there was signs of 'stress'.
  2. I would, definitely, check out the suspension components. My 460 has done 120,000 miles and had no problems, whatsoever, in the suspension area. I live outside the UK and do not have to suffer the terrible road surfaces you are subjected to.
  3. Is it the AM or FM reception which is bad? The FM aerial is in the rear windscreen. I had the problem on AM and found that the earth for that is on the steering box. It is open to the elements and gets dirty. A local auto electrician did the necessary for me.
  4. I have to agree with you, Mike. I don't often use the cooling feature but often use the heating. The heated seats, front and back, are really efficient. I get my car serviced at my local Lexus dealer and they, regularly, take the seat filters out and clean them.
  5. With respect, Phil, not a very balanced post. There are more than two owners on this forum who do NOT regret buying a 460.......and, in my case, after owning a 400 for 15 years.
  6. Maybe, because cream always rises to the top. 😌 I know.......I'll get my coat!
  7. James, If you search the Forum for 'VGRS issues' you will see a reply that I wrote on this subject. Basically, I had the problem but it was a computer glitch and no problem. I've owned my 460 for 8 years/70,000 miles and it is my daily runner. I owned a 400 for 15 years before that and the 460 has been every bit as trouble-free as the 400.
  8. I think the Web Host has updated this, and more, of its sites. Another site I use, completely different to the LOC (RV Park Reviews), was updated at exactly the same time.
  9. Congratulations on being the owner of an LS. This is the place to have your questions answered by friendly, helpful, enthusiasts.
  10. Oregon is a lovely part of the world......and a well-kept secret. My wife and I have spent quite a bit of time there in the past 7 years.
  11. This happened to me a few years ago, here is my post on the topic: On the US forum there are many entries about steering rack problems. What happens is that the steering wheel, for no reason, takes up a 45 degrees left or right position with the front wheels straight ahead. Running diagnostic check gives an error code which requires a steering rack change. I had this happen to me and took it to my local Lexus dealer. I told him about the US forum and he just laughed. He was adamant that the problem was NOT the rack. They ran a full diagnostic and, sure enough, got a code which recommended a steering rack change. He still didn't believe it and told his guys to run a full program check on the various systems. They found a corrupt script in the Auto-Parking module. A quick re-boot and all was well. That was 5 years ago and I've had no problems since. Interestingly, he told me that, after a rack change, they would have to do the same re-boot as part of the schedule. Makes you wonder how many racks (at around $5000) have been changed for a computer glitch. The fix cost me about 130 euro.
  12. I had always used Dunlop SP Sports on my 460 but, a couple of years ago, I changed to Michelin Pilot Sports.......I find them much quieter. In fairness 'quieter' is a relative term in an, already, very quiet LS 🙂 BTW, I have 19 inch wheels on mine.
  13. Talking about jacking up the car................ On Tuesday, I was on my way to play golf, in my 460, when I had a 'Low Tyre Pressure' warning. I pulled into a nearby car park and discovered that the drivers side rear tyre was nearly flat. Normally, I would have just sat there and called out the Dutch equivalent of the AA but, because I had a tee-time to make, I decided to change the wheel myself. It must be at least 25 years since I changed a wheel - and that was on a FIAT 600! My machine has 19" wheels, they are very heavy and I'm now 72 years old. It was bad enough jacking the car up, but lifting the wheel out of the boot was 'not easy'. I won't do that again! By coincidence, I was due to take the car for its annual service (including MOT) after the golf game. I delivered the car to the Lexus dealer and they told me they'd call if there were any problems. I'm very aware of the suspension niggles on the 460 and I always ask them to give it a good check. The car has done 115,000 miles. They did call, to tell me that I needed new rear discs and pads. I look upon that as normal servicing and, since they were the original discs, I wasn't too worried. But that was it! The air struts, ball joints and suspension bushes are still looking great. The exhaust (remember it's not stainless) is still OK and, as a precaution, I had the radiator renewed last year. There have been reports that the front seats wear very quickly. Mine are still great - maybe my weight of 75 kg has something to do with that. I've owned the car for 7 years and it has been as reliable as my old 400. All the electronics and electrics work as they should and it has been serviced by Lexus from new. I am aware that I don't have to subject the car to the awful road surfaces that you have to endure. I read the problems John Savage had with the suspension on his 600 and gulped at the replacement costs. BTW, they gave me an IS 300h as a loaner car. Nice machine but, like all the modern Lexus models, I really don't like the mouse system of selecting things on the screen. Mine, being one of the earlier 460s, has a touch screen. I find that much safer. Or maybe I'm just an old sod 😃
  14. I'm always amazed how complicated windscreen changes have become since screens became part of the structural strength of the car. It's a long time since I used a wire coat-hanger to remove the locking band, then screen, in my Ford Escort.
  15. I would also ask the specialist if rubber and the coolant fluid are compatible.
  16. I've always thought that the SC430 is like marmite - you, either love it, or........... I'm an 'or..........' 😕
  17. On the US forum, there are a few threads dedicated to this. You might, also, be interested in the 'Jim Craney Fix' : https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-4th-gen-2007-2017/506217-instructions-for-the-jmcraney-wind-noise-fix.html
  18. I had mine done at 105k, last year. The Lexus mechanic said the old one showed signs of stress around the oil cooler connections.
  19. Forget the economy........'It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it!' 😊
  20. My nephew has a Tesla Model S. Not long after he got it, he invited me to have a drive. When we got to a quiet stretch of road he told me to floor it. I won't print what I said; but these things have supercar acceleration - quite incredible. Having said that, the ride isn't very good and the interior, fixtures and fittings are really substandard. No, I wouldn't have one. However, I do respect their performance and never try to outdo them at the lights.
  21. I'm sorry I can't answer your question but........an LS600HL in front of ALDI? Harrods.......maybe. 😀
  22. Yes, I think that's water from the airco system. I have mine selected permanently and that little puddle is a common sight. If in doubt, try a smell and/or lick test.
