  1. where do you get these chickens from ? are they more expensive as a genuine Lexus part ? or will aftermarket chickens do....... Allan
  2. Here is the item number for the eBay seller in the uk ....121267237293....... Allan
  3. If you want clips for your engine covers eBay is the cheapest option especially if your not in a hurry.... You can buy the clips from china suppliers for less than 20 pence each and they fit perfectly, there is a seller in the midlands area selling clips for £4.25 for 10 clips if you can't wait 2-3 weeks from china.......keep an eye on that oil ,maybe use a thicker oil 10/50 this might reduce the oil consumption .... Allan
  4. If the engine is not burning the oil then you must have a leak, if you have checked the coolant for oil contamination and there is none , then you must have leak, get a torch ,remove all the engine covers and look in all the nooks and crannies with the torch if you have a leak you should be able to see it ....maybe give the engine an oil change and change the grade of oil to maybe a 10/50 or even 20/50 , I have read some where that doing this can reduce oil consumption , keep us posted on how you get on...... Allan
  5. My mk1 never had gas struts on the bonnet just had the stay that you hooked on to the bonnet to hold it open..... Allan
  6. I think John is correct the front bumper needs to be removed to access the indicator bulbs at the front, from what I've read it's not a difficult job ... a bit daunting just to change bulbs..... Allan
  7. I think the rear lights have reflectors in them so changing the bumper lights should be ok..... Allan
  8. And not Aston Martin or Rolls Royce or is that what you meant by BMW lol..... Allan
  9. Should be about £2 to £300 for painting the front bumper..... Allan
  10. I'm not saying it's the norm' but it can happen, when it happened to me I had just replaced the fob batteries and was in site of the car and about 6 ft above the roof line, I noticed the puddle lights came on when I opened my front door so I asked my better half to try the door and sure enough it opened , had me worried at the time but I think it was a mixture of circumstances, I still think it's a bit daft that you can drive the car away without the fob, you can't do that with a Nissan micra it cuts out the engine if the fob is more than a couple of metres away...... Allan
  11. £30 now that is rip off, don't you just loose a bit of faith with lexus main dealers when you hear these things ?....as someone has already said, buy your fob batteries from eBay , I paid £4.00 for 4new batteries with a four year out of date stamp on them, another tip when replacing fob batteries is use the end of the second fob key to wedge open the fob there is a slot in one corner that is a perfect fit for the end of the key...... Allan
  12. Yeh Derek, the 12 speed Merc Arocs only drops from 12 th to 11 th when I use the kick down and normally the dash computer says NO !!!....... Allan
  13. I take it the lex is the first auto you've driven then ? I now drive a auto Mercedes 32ton eight wheeler, the kick down on that is not as good as my lex though !!!.... Allan
  14. Hi Andy, welcome to the LOC , enjoy that luxury car of yours..... Allan
  15. Hi Julie, welcome to the LOC, I had my is200 for nearly 9 years , always had it serviced by a small back street garage without any problems, ask around local car parts suppliers if they could recommend any good reliable mechanics and I mean mechanics not just fitters there is a big difference between the two ! You could ask local RAC for any reliable workshops, ... If you didn't drive for long or far with the car overheating then it should be ok, check the oil for any water that might have mixed with it ( the oil will be milky ). Check the oil filler cap also for the same thing ,milky substance, if these checks are negative then check the water in the radiator for oil particals , if this is clear then the head gasket is probably ok , you can get any descent garage to do a pressure check on the rad and diagnose the water from the rad for carbon particals which could mean head gasket, these checks at a garage should take no longer than 30mins max....hope this info is handy for you, good luck..... Allan
  16. Hi Steve ,welcome to the LOC , the car looks good... Allan
  17. If the fob signal can be detected by the car then you can enter the car and drive it away as far as you want ! The book says the fob needs to be within 2-3 feet but I know on occasions that my car can be as much as 20 feet away to enter the car strange things radio waves, you would think that the system would shut down when the fob was more than 50 feet away, seems daft to me to allow the car to be driven without the fob being in the car especially since it nags you to put your belt on , agree to the nav screen etc, should it not warn you the fob is not present ? A lady came to my works the other day, unloaded her car when she went to drive away the car would not start ! She had left the fob in her house and after slagging the car for a good 10mins she had to get a cab home to retrieve the fob , so be warned people you can drive the car away without the fob in your possession ........ Allan
  18. Welcome to the LOC, bet you can't wait to get that ISF !
  19. Hi James, welcome to the LOC your going to love that Lexi , I went from a bm 328i Touring to a is200 and thought it was far nicer to drive the Lex than the bm ,...enjoy that car !!! look after it and it will look after you...... Allan

  21. Hi Tony, sorry to hear of your plight , I know how much you liked you car, defending it when I questioned hybrid technology, you sold me on it in fact ! I think you should get it repaired , its going to be more cost effective than leasing or buying and better the devil you know remember , just one thing that I have learn' t from this is Lexus dealer service is not worth the money they charge, I was considering having my 250 serviced at Lexus but not now, I feel you might as get your car serviced at a decent independent service agent, I would have thought after your loyal custom for so long they could have helped you out some way especially as Lexus looked after the car all of its life or didn't as the case might be....... Allan
  22. Looks good, what paint did you use ? I used hammerite when I painted my is 200 calipers and it's still good after 8 years and the decals are still perfect , I did use proper caliper paint on my is250 a couple of months ago and I think the hammerite paint is better and will last longer.....
