  1. Hi Keith, welcome to LOC nice car the is300, I think you are going to like having something thats not 'run of the mill ' car , I also ride and enjoy my motor bike its a VFR 750 pretty bullet proof just like the Lexus.... Allan
  2. totally agree with this, great post Phil.... Allan
  3. I have never experienced run flat tires but i do believe the ride would be harsher than your LS mainly because they are low profile tires, run flats are a harder compound tyre, I think because they are made to run with no air in them..... I think that your battery is probably on its way out , there should be a date on it somewhere , worth getting checked at any kwick fit or Halfords , they can do a drop test on it, should be a free check.... sorry cant help on the sound system but i'm sure there are plenty of more experienced people than me who can help... looks like a lovely car though, i'm envious... Allan
  4. I would go for the is300 , or if you want V8 power go for the LS series best of both worlds..... Lexus with your V8 muscle !.... Allan
  5. Dave try the toothpaste , honestly it does work and you don't need a lot, just try a bit on a corner of the lamp lens....save yourself some dollars....wash off properly after polishing... Allan
  6. Andrew that such a nice truck, is it yours ? who did the renovation ?
  7. Hi dave, my last post was not meant for you to answer, I was hoping that Colin might confirm about the age of the belt to do a change, ...the cambelt you looked at on eBay is from abroad so I would not bother with that one, also if your going to change the belt not knowing the last time it was done I would also change the cambelt tensioner , you would normally buy a kit with everything included, search on fleabay for this item number :- 281305240446, it's the sort of thing you would be looking for ..... Let us know how you get on... Allan
  8. On my 06 car the jack fits in the left hand side compartment of the spare wheel well, the jack handle fits on the underside of the cover on the spare wheel ... Allan
  9. Just to confirm, is the cambelt change just at 100k regardless of age ? Except the is200, for example a 30 year old car might only have 30k miles ,surely the rubber cambelt would deteriorate with the years, are the belts made of different materials for different cars ?
  10. Just use dot4 it will mix with dot3 without any problem, DOT 4 has replaced DOT 3..... Allan
  11. I've changed both rear calipers on my06 is2 without any problems and no warning lights...the pads low warning on mine is just a small metal fitting on the pad when the pad gets low this creates a screaming noise ... Allan
  12. Looks good, you better start saving for the real thing now ! Allan
  13. Quixx car scratch repair seems to work on small fine scratches .... Allan
  14. Hope you enjoy your new motor, I went the other way BMW to LEXUS, both good brands of vehicles but Lexus does it for me, I don't need a fast powerfull car, you can't really use all that power any more unless you go out of the uk, all the best to you Andrew, I would not be surprised to see you back to Lexus though !.... Allan
  15. Also I don't think the rear wheels are wider than the fronts, you are only looking at a 2cm difference in the width of the tyre, but I'm not 100 % sure of this... Allan
  16. The damage does not look that bad , a bit time with some wet and dry paper starting with 180 grade working your way down to maybe 600 grade using water with the paper should get most of the damage out, then primer ,rub down again with 600 grade then match the colour with aerosol can paint.... Allan
  17. Japanese car are RHD therefore they would be the same as UK vehicles me thinks ?... Allan
  18. I thought that lexus/Toyota have revised the cambelt change to 60k or 6years ??? Allan
  19. Welcome to LOC, always good advice here ....1.The toothpaste trick works if the lens is yellowed on the outside, i've done it myself, 2..change the cam belt the recommended is 60k or 5-6 years whichever is soonest, 3... worth dismantling the aerial to try and fix, 4 stick to your tom tom for navigation and save money...... Allan
  20. Is the isf different to the is with folding mirrors if not the kit from our man in Australia would do the trick... Allan
  21. ah to flush or not to flush that is the question, flushing oil is only oil with probably more detergents than normal to clean carbon deposits from the engine, I really cant see flushing oil doing damage to an engine...... Allan
  22. Depends how you use your car, what sort of journeys you drive, if you are only driving local journeys at slow speeds then I would say budget tyres are ok ... but if your driving long distance, motorways etc then i would advise against budget tyres..you will probably not get as many miles from cheaper tyres as you would branded tyres also the grip of budget tyres is not the best, especially in wet weather, therefore they will affect your stopping distance, the choice is yours but think the saving of budget against branded tyres is not that great in the long term.... Allan
  23. there is already topic on this including a pdf download on how to do it , well worth looking through with plenty of advice ... its heading is :- folding mirrors... its quite a easy install.... Allan
  24. well done Ishaq, its not as difficult as you think eh ! if you find out where to get those shims let me know cos mine were missing when i did this job ...and i'm now running without them, doesn't seem to make any difference...... Allan
