  3. I was driving a brand new Mercedes truck a couple of weeks ago which I was keeping a very close eye on, after parking the truck I was told by one of my workmates that I had a water leak, there was quite a bit of water under the vehicle , when I tasted it I was re- assured that it was the air con... 4. That's what we need , more dealers named and shamed, rip off dealers should be investigated by the manufacturer, I've had problems in the past with a Honda motorcycle dealer , when I wrote to Honda they where not interested ,their loss , but you really would expect more from Lexus or would you? It's not the first bad Lexus dealer I heard of, it does put you off going to main dealers though considering the prices they charge... Allan
  5. I've heard it all now !!!!! When they going to make self healing caliper pins ???? Allan
  6. I know someone who has just paid road tax on a manual is200 and that was £230. For 12months, when I taxed my is250 in April it was £285. For 12 months but that's a auto I know that a is250 manual is about £470.00 ...I don't know if a is200 auto is cheaper !.....I still don't understand why the 250 auto is cheaper than a 250 manual cos it's got the same engine.....?????? Allan
  7. Thanks for the quick replys guys, Ive mailed Michael so I'll wait for his reply, thanks again, Allan
  8. Hi James, welcome to LOC, my advice for buying a is200 take your time and don't let your heart rule your head , there are plenty of nice cars out there so make sure the car you buy is the best that you can get for your money, .....the cam belt change is not only at 60k but also every 5-6 years , so if the car has say 80-90k miles but the belt was changed 6yrs ago it will need doing again, bottom suspension joints wear, brake caliper pins seize, but overall these car are pretty bullett proof if they have been serviced regulary, keep us posted how you get on with your quest, good luck..... Allan
  9. anybody know if the po-40 kit is still available and the cost ? thanks in advance, Allan
  10. Check Lexus web site, they normally give prices for all services for each type of car and what they do for each service..... Allan
  11. I use L M grease I think this is the type used for cv joints, hopefully this will do the job ... Will check again just before winter comes, as far as checking and regreasing the pins.... Remember we don't get true mechanics any more only fitters, that's what I find anyway...... Allan
  12. Eric, i'm not sure if your confusing the slot for the dvd and music discs with the one for the navigation disc, they are two different slots ,the navigation disc slot is behind the clock panel, thats why you need the release pins...they are to release the clock panel as my post 4 june following your post on the 1st of june about updating the sat nav...... you need the nav screen to eject the disc and replace the disc back... DO NOT try to eject the nav disc without removing the clock panel or damage could result.... Allan
  13. Is250 auto is a great car similar to the 220d but reliable, go and have a look at a few and test drive I think you will be pleasently surprised..... Allan
  14. Hi Andre, welcome to the community , in my younger days I was mini mad , I rallied one for two years ... Ended up owning 8 altogether , but I must say the is200 is a brilliant car had mine for nearly 9 yrs... Your going to love it..... Alllan
  15. Lexus warranty is 60k OR 5years whichever is soonest....
  16. I reckon that the mileage is probably correct , would anybody really clock an old car that low ? I bought a Honda vfr off eBay it was 20yrs old with 28 k on the clock ! Still got it after 5yrs, condition is everything, that gs was probably used by a old lady just to go to church on Sundays ,as the car dealers always used to say !!!...... Allan
  17. If you mean reduce the miles on the mileometer then I would say that it is possible on any car given the right equipment , it's only a computer after all.... And we all know what hackers do with computers , cash points, phones, etc..... You should always judge a car by the condition rather than the miles on the clock !!!... Wear on the pedals , steering wheel, seats etc....... Allan
  18. Is there any reason why stainless steel is not used for car brake discs ? Cost perhaps ? The discs look terrible once they go rusty.... Anybody use the the black discs I've seen for sale... And do they go rusty? ..... Allan
  19. Anybody who lives in London like me pays through the nose for their insurance as well, twelve years no claims , no points , I pay £ 450. For a is250 with more than and I don't even get a cuddly toy ! Allan
  20. E type has got to be the most beautiful car ever designed, not reliable, not comfortable , but beautiful ... Even Mr Ferrari said it at the time ..... Allan
  21. Nice car , nice countryside, I do miss my is200 every time I see a nice looking one, well done ...... Allan
  22. I agree with noo bie something does not sound right here, you would not need to grind the slide pin to get it out of the caliper, if it was seized and then released it would only need cleaning greasing then replacing into the caliper, this pin is fixed to the caliper holding bracket, the other pin unscrews out of the caliper holding bracket, could have been the caliper holding bracket not tight on the hub.... Allan
  23. If you didn't have a wheel wobble before the stud snapped then it's probable out of balance, did you take the disc off the hub then replace disc 180 degrees out on the hub ? This could make a differance , if it's only when you brake then it could be sticky caliper, did you check the slide pins when you removed the caliper ?...... You should be able to knock the studs out without taking hub off , when replacing them you push them through the hub as far as you can , then put a wheel nut on to pull the stud all the way through, the stud has splines on it to stop it turning in the hub..hope this helps... Allan
  24. After having my car serviced I had to remove the wheels to check rear caliper pins, I knackered my wheel brace trying to undo the wheel nuts , bloody wheel air guns are a pain in the wrong hands, your stud does look like fatigue .... Allan
