+1 ..... same experience with AG. Second fitting they sent one of their “technical” people..... I can confirm with recent freezing weather that the screen fillaments for defrosting wiper blades on my replacement do not work in this generic non Lexus screen.....I’ve tested the power supply & that’s ok. It cost me a new wiper blade to find out. Phil

For info.... Interested if anyone takes this offer up..... is it just another angle on dealer discount for new vehicle? http://lexus.cmail20.com/t/ViewEmail/y/B18B299D38994586/36B67337B4CB9A9AA7F290B8E8FDC6A0 It’s official. The Lexus Scrappage Scheme is now live and we’re thrilled to offer our customers the chance to claim up to £4000 off any new car purchased when trading in a qualifying vehicle. The scheme itself is simple. Trade in your old car for a brand new one. But there’s quite a lot of information to digest on how it works. We’ve highlighted the salient points below so you can check, at a glance, the benefits and eligibility criteria. There’s up to £4000 to claim off the price of each new car purchase. The scheme makes buying a luxury car from Lexus easier than ever before. The initiative will run until 31 December 2017. New cars become more affordable when part exchanging for the bonus £4000. Trade in vehicles must have been registered prior to 31 December 2009. By trading in an older, less efficient model, you’re helping to reduce harmful emissions. With Listers Lexus you need to have owned your car for at least six months prior to trading in. We know your time is valuable. Listers will sort everything for you including checking the criteria and eligibility, completing the application forms and all associated paperwork so all you’ve got to do is choose which model is best for you! RAC breakdown renewal warning
Vintagesixtysix replied to mikeyv's topic in Lexus General Discussions
I used to have cover without fail .... the wife buys new so always seemed to have breakdown cover for at least a couple of years. I was also paying around £90 a year for annual worldwide travel insurance. I then realised my bank would offer me car (not individual) breakdown cover + travel insurance + mobile phone insurance + blah blah blah... for a similar monthly fee than the original two. Might be worth a look if you also have other insured items/stuff/services. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC -
I bet they still started! [emoji106]🤞[emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

Hi Geoff, Having had company lease cars for over 20years with my last business I can comment from the other side of the fence. I treated those cars exactly like my own private vehicle.... serviced on time.... tyres changed before illegal... family & other animals told to treat the inside with respect.... cleaned inside & out regularly. I saw it as a tool of the trade...didn't want my customers seeing a skip driving into the car park ..... and when blessed with the presence of a senior manager or going to another site with a client I didn't want them to have scrape the kids McDonald's off the seat first. What I couldn't control was where it was serviced & the quality of parts & tires used.... as were all on contract accounts. I've also know guys who are '000 s of miles over service times and almost having to be threatened with consequences if they didn't get it done or only coming to light after being nicked for a tyre, speeding, bulb out etc. So I'm sure your relative will know long standing customers..... whose mileage and vehicle condition they can probably almost predict along with their service history. Over the years I have enquired a couple of times to buy my vehicle at the end of the lease.... I would call the price competitive not mind blowing cheap..... but of course I knew every mile it had done. Hope helps Phil Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

So looking at the drawing... Discounting the manifolds, the system is in three pieces? Please check my thinking. Manifold to cats... centre piece to after middle box ( where mines cracked) ...... finally to back boxes and tips? If I was going to get just the middle section made up S/S mild or whatever would that suffice or would there be issues? Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

Not an answer to my post issue ... Found this as replacement back box, just for reference. https://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/Products.aspx?ID=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&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlL-_k6fh1QIVorftCh2RDAR0EAQYAiABEgJUufD_BwE Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

Thanks all for thoughts and recommendations. Technically I've got until mot time in Jan to sort this but as the pipe is comprised from around 3 - 7 o'clock it's going to need to be sorted sooner rather than later. It has made me think about how long I'm going to hang onto it but I do love chugging around in the old beast. It's also got very very slow DMF (manual box) wear creep which is another £1000 to sort when it finally if ever goes. Ive recently thrown a load of dollar at new discs pads all round and she does still runs sweet as a nut. I'm going to get it up on the ramps again and have a look at repair but also as I'm in the West Midlands .... automotive heartland I'm going call pop into a few fabrication places and just see if anyone's up for a bespoke fix. In relation to above has anyone got a drawing of the exhaust system so I can go forearmed with info. Can I also just confirm if I find a way of getting some kind of metal/welding repairs done to that localised area.... I shouldn't have to worry about the sensors up stream? I've been trying to ignore the possibility of this happening, but at 12years old & nearly 100k on the clock it's no real surprise it's caught up with me. I've read through some of the previous posts and there was a reasonably extensive one that ran around a year ago on the forum, I thought I'd start a fresh one just to see if anyone had come across a fix or recommendations for a S/S replacement & how to keep the sound right as my boy racing days are well behind me! 😇 And I'm not as handy as@IS200Newbie either.... 😢 Any thoughts appreciated guys. Had mine completed today, dash out. They are completing the airbag replacement, renewing or adding the dash fitting that have been an issue previously with dash squeak. I had the AC crack fix done (£5 kit no labour as dash out) maybe a bit churlish to charge me for the kit!? as been a previous recall. Covering on pillars intact no damage all seems quiet & ok up to now just driving back from dealer. Job done hopefully. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

Nice work..... you've inspired me to give the old shed a bit of a paint job. I bet as the weather has turned a bit over recent weeks you'll be glad of that insulation! Hope you both enjoy it. Sent from my iPad using Lexus OC -
If you wanted to be ar@ey about it .... just ask for their (builders) indemnity insurers name..... if they claim not to have any ..... ask the householder for theirs. My guess is they'll soon stump up a couple of quid. If DIY I'll leave to the direction of those that know. If you were selling it tomorrow you'd talk about normal age related bumps & scratches...not concrete marks! 😢 Hope works out either way as looks in good nick even with age & milage. Unlucky...... these are always a pain in the butt. Your cars drivable so while not pretty you have time on your side and not racking up hire car costs that can sometimes force decisions that move the process along rather than feeling just. Agreed witness would have been good... if you are very certain of your position what about a social media appeal for witness. Stand your ground .... the schematic is a good start your not just going to roll over. Even if the insurance contact tells you you have no choice.... you have. Take your time.... there are good resources online like money saving expert etc where people share experiences and tactics etc. Annoying ... after having a non fault last year myself in another vehicle and being reassured at the time it makes no difference.... my insurer wrote me a lovely letter saying they wouldn't be able to insure me when renewing. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
