  1. Ahh, that's coz your one of the posh buggers with the top of the range edition, not like us poor scruffs that don't have the memory function.
  2. Second that, I went for the DR650GW 2ch front & rear. Easy to install and easy to operate with the wifi.
  3. Last info from the dealer was that they would take into account the LOC discount which would be around 12.5% of the published prices. I'll be going in to see them in a couple of weeks to get the final price. For the original £1001 that I paid up front, it took a couple of mails and phone calls to EMac and I've been advised that they will refund this. I await with baited breath as their responses have been pretty poor so far.
  4. Ross, by any chance do you have front and rear dash cams installed ? . There have been some instances of the signal from the front to rear interfering with DAB reception.
  5. Just hoping that the snow and ice will be gone by the end of next week. I can't take the cold weather these days he says as it's a bit cloudy and the temperature has dropped to around 29c.
  6. They come as standard to protect the door panel from getting chipped from stones etc getting flung up. I've left mine on and plan to add some clear protective film to the lower parts of the rear wings as Lexus don't do mudflaps.
  7. If you think the air filter is bad, just thing what our lungs are like. At least the filter gets changed every now and again.
  8. Get rid of all safety and warning stickers everywhere. Let nature take it's course..
  9. Eric, with the Blackvue, the files are split front and rear, easily marked for which is which and identifiable for the exact date and time. They are recorded for 1 minute each and on the playback virtually seamless. You also get the vehicle speed and GPS location shown on a moving map in the file viewer.
  10. I have the Blackvue 650 which came with a unit to connect it up so that it could record when parked, but also monitor the battery voltage and shut off at a predetermined voltage so you don't end up with a flat battery. At this time I have only plugged it into the cig lighter so parking isn't covered. The cameras are pretty small and the front one can sit behind the rear view mirror, almost unseen. Picture quality is good and the downloadable apps are easy to figure out. Pls note that the cameras have no screens so you have to view the files by putting the memory card in a PC or download them by the built in wifi to your phone or iPad. All in all, I'm happy and impressed with the end results and minimal look that doesn't resemble a bad afterthought
  11. Hi Tel, they're not binding. I happens mostly when you are stationary, slowly release the brake pedal until the car inches forwards and then you get this low pitched groaning/vibration from the front brakes. It used to be a thing with Jags back in the 1970's. I'll probably just monitor it for a while and wait until my problems with Lexus Edinburgh and EMac are resolved. Cheers
  12. Make sure you don't have the heating/ventilation on recirculate. That's the quick way to end up with a lot of moisture in the car.
  13. Does anyone else get a noise from the brakes when creeping very slowly in traffic, usually around 1-2 mph when the brakes are slowly released just to edge forwards. I've come accross this before, donkey's years ago in the 70's and it used to be called "Brake Grunt". It;s a low frequency vibration from the pads/discs that sounds a bit like a grunt/groan and the cure was to clean up the pads and put some copped based grease on the backs and edges. I did mention it to the dealer when it was in to get the roof polished, but no change and I doubt it was even looked at. Thanks

  15. Geoff, from what I can remember, if you get in the car, press the start button to switch on, then turn on the heated rear screen, demister and heated seats etc. the engine will fire up while you scrape the windows. It doesn't take long to warm up.
  16. O.K. Last post on this topic from me. I have to smile bit when I see all the comments about bad drivers. I think driving in the U.K. Is a fairly pleasant experience compared to what I'm used too. If you want your hair standing on end you need to try the following places, Cairo (just plain crazy), Jerusalem (not too bad, but the definition of a split second is the time it takes from the lights going to green and the guy behind leaning on his horn), Damascus just as bad as Cairo, but now everyone's got an AK-47!!, Beirut ( God help you in the rush hour if your going against the traffic flow), Khartoum (watch out for the Tuk Tuks and buses with huge spinners bolted to their hub caps, think Ben Hur, Port au Prince ( every part of the roads, pavement and verges can be used at the drop of a hat and it doesn't matter which direction your going in). And to round it off, here is an extract from the daily security report, things are fairly quiet at the moment. On January 14th, 2015 around 1800hrs, a UN agency Staff Member was victim of a robbery at Santo 15A. Two unidentified armed bandits on a motorcycle pointed guns at her and took her duty and private cellphones. No injury was sustained. On January 19th, 2015 around 0515 hrs a UN agency staff member was assaulted at Delmas 48 near Planet Kreyol radio station by an unidentified local male. The staff member resisted and in the process the antenna of his VHF radio was broken. The aggressor fled the scene without taking anything. No injuries reported. On January 19th, 2015 around 1515 hrs a UN international staff member was attacked by five (05) unknown persons who attempted to rob him of his cell phone. The suspects attacked the staff member by throwing stones at him. He sustained injuries to his left eye and head area. He has been transported to the UN clinic at for medical treatment. You soon learn to drive defensively aggressive
  17. Pandering to the "I'm Gonna Sue You" mentality that has spread from the west side of the Atlantic ..
  18. Maybe it's time for the moderators to close this topic before things turn into a slanging match ??.
  19. Tailgaters and speeders, just two reasons why I fitted front and rear dashcams. Works very well with HD files that you can easily view on a PC or on an iPad or phone thru WIFI.
  20. I took out a 3 year service plan a couple of weeks ago and it came to 1001 for 2 minor and i major which excluded the LOC discount which was not applicable. I later checked the prices on the Lexus web site and they were priced at 935 for the same services and would have qualified for LOC discount bringing the total price down to around the 800 mark. Seemingly the company which administers the service plans are now changing their quotations to include the discount where applicable, but it still doesn't answer why they were 65 higher in the first place. Sorry, don't have the Pound sign on my keyboard.
  21. Interesting seeing as the offer was supposed to close on the 31st Dec. with any luck I may be able to get it. Or maybe look at another make in 3 years time..
  22. The saga continues with concern to the standard of customer care from this dealership. It all started way back in May when I was curious about the NX. I spoke to the sales staff who took my email address and said I would be sent pics and details from them when they attended the pre launch in Spain. Result - No Information received. June Anyway, I had decided to go for the IS and when it was collected I was told that they would send details of the servicing plans that were available. Result - No information received August Dropped into the dealers when I got back from work and spoke to the sales, again I requested details of the servicing plan. I was advised that they would send me the details. Result - Again no information received. September Several weeks later when I was washing the car, I found lines in the paintwork which was residue left over from the protective plastic used during the shipping. This resulted in the car going in for a couple of days to have the marks polished out of the paintwork. Not a big deal, but something which is supposed to be a common issue should have been caught. Update - seemingly the lines on the roof only show up when the paintwork has been subjected to a lot of U/V light as per last summer. My car was one of three reported last year, unless the forum members know better. November Finally got the service plan details and extended warranty information. Quoted 1001 for the service, 2 minor and 1 major, and 795 for the extended warranty December Landed back and found myself at the airport car park with no electrics. Luckily I remembered reading about the battery terminals being loose, so I gave mine a wiggle and bingo, we have lift off. Went to the dealers just a couple of miles away and had them tightened properly. Update - This fault is new to Lexus Edinburgh and as far as they are aware, it is an isolated case, and like above, unless the forum members know better. A week later I am back at the dealers to take out the service plan and extended warranty, as mentioned in a previous post, it turns out that I was paying over the odds and no LOC discount which would have reduced the cost by around 200 pounds. I was also told that no one knew if they could sell me the extended warranty with the car only being 6 month old. They would look into this and get back to me. Result - Cancelled the service plan, although I have yet to have the 1001 pounds refunded. Also in line with previous requests for information, nothing received on the extended warranty, and now the 2 for 1 deal has expired. Update - There are system problems with the company administering the service plans where incorrect prices are quoted and they are adding the option to take into account LOC discounts. Also, nothing concrete on the extended warranty, but the dealers are under the impression that the 2 for 1 offer will be extended until later this year. By this time you can imagine that I'm a little bit ticked off and ended up contacting Lexus U.K. customer relations office. They quickly replied on the 29th Dec and said that they had passed my concerns onto Lexus Edinburgh so that their customer relations executive can contact me as a matter of urgency to discuss and resolve these points. Result - By the 7th on January I still had no contact from Lexus Edinburgh so a went back to Lexus U.K. As a result Lexus Edinburgh finally contacted me. But due to the time differences it will be tomorrow when I manage to speak to them. This should be an interesting conversation, but at this moment in time I have very little confidence in their dealership which is letting the brand down significantly. If I acted that way at work it would be get out the two planks of wood and three nails !!! Rant over until I see what happens tomorrow. Pity it took a couple of gorillagrams to Lexus U.K. to get things moving
