  1. Robin, I fitted a Blackvue DR650 in mine with the rear camera fitted at the top centre of the glass. The cable was tucked under the head cloth along to the LHR roof pillar, down the back of the rear door weatherstrip and tucked in behind the trim on the B pillar, again tucked under the front door weatherstrip and then across to the underside of the dash. There is a panel below the glovebox that pops of easily and let's you get to the fuse box, although you need to be a double jointed contortionist to get your head in a position to see it. All in all, it's very easy and the only place you can see any of the cable is if you open the pax door fully and its visible for about an inch or two.
  2. You can run a cable to the front fairly easily, tuck it down the back of the door weathers strips and B pillar trim. Took me about 20 mins to have it completely hidden. Also I've wired mine up thru a power monitor which will cut the power at a preset voltage to protect the 12v battery.
  3. Drove a Yaris and then an Auris belonging to my son. At work it was mainly Toyota Landcruisers, 4Runners, Nissan Patrols.
  4. Used "Gtechniq" stuff for the glass. You get get a very small bottle but it's enough to put three coats on the windscreen and one coat on the rest of the glass. Works well in heavy rain, water just streams up the screen if you're going over 40 - 50.
  5. It's usually the uncontrolled and sudden stop that does the damage...
  6. I used a coating from Gtechniq for the windows, they recommend 3 coats on the windscreen and 1 coat on the other windows. Pretty impressed with the results, was beads up and runs off very easily, plus at anything over 40MPH, you barely need the wipers as the water just streams off the glass due to the wind.
  7. Scraped a front wheel a couple of weeks ago, Arrrgggg, luckily not too badly damaged but still cursed myself for days after. Jacked up the front to take the wheel off for repair and was very surprised on how heavy the car is, it took a fair amount of effort to get the car lifted. Anyway, wheel refurbished and looks like new and the wallet is £90 lighter..
  8. Fitted the lights as well as mud flaps with no problems, very simple to do..
  9. I think some of the lines are used as an antenna for the radio, not sure how many though,,
  10. Use two hammers, one held against the lower arm tapered part and then whack the opposite side with the other hammer.
  11. I tend to agree that mud flaps can spoil the look especially if they are on the large side and are in contrast to the paint work colour, but as my colour is darkish grey, they do blend in and don't stand out too much. For the body mouldings, I think the IS can look a bit slab sided and the mouldings break up the tall door panels.
  12. For the front and rear mud flaps, got the from the "official Lexus shop" on eBay. They were around £44 front and same for the rear. Body side mouldings were from Sewell Lexus in Dallas Texas, but I think they have closed their online shop. I picked up the body body mouldings for $97, also matched colour door edge protectors for $84, front door sill trims for $102 and a clear adhesive strip for the top of the rear bumper for $43. Part numbers in order PR29A-00120-01 WX02E00 PT936-53140-AN01J00 67911-53050 WW02C03 PT747-53050 SD02J10 Please note that the side mouldings and door edge protectors part numbers are for the Mercury Grey paintwork. There's a couple of pics in my profile that show the sill plates and door edge protectors
  13. Here are a couple of pics of the mud flaps. Not very clear due to the cloudy weather.
  14. I tend to agree with Scoops. If you need to remove it, then try and cut thru it with something like dental floss and then use WD40 to see if that dissolves the adhesive left on the screen.
  15. "Except the side window ain't fogged, and it's not a very well aimed blast of (at that time!) cold air - it seems most of it hits my face. Unfortunately that vent isn't adjustable." Yup, got the same problem with the air hitting my face..
  16. Genuine Lexus ones are available on eBay from the official Lexus site, works out at around £90 for a full set. Very easy to fit with a couple of plastic push pins and a couple of screws. http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/lexusofficialstore?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
  17. Had a similar problem with mine, just gave them a wipe with a damp cloth and the blue tinge came off.
  18. Probably be around 2-3 hours labour as a guess.
  19. Regarding the previously mentioned "up selling" in dealerships, here is a link to a vacancy posting for an apprentice Service Advisor which clearly indicates that "up selling" is part and parcel of what you need to do. I.E. Make sure the customer spends as much as possible. Also, you've just got to love the salary for this job, just enough to keep the cats fed properly ... https://jobsearch.direct.gov.uk/GetJob.aspx?JobID=23017758&JobTitle=Apprentice+Service+Advisor-+Volkswagen+Group&pp=25&cy=UK&where=Edinburgh%2c+Scotland&sort=rv.dt.di&rad=10&re=134&tm=0&AVSDM=2015-12-08+11%3a43%3a00
  20. Was the car taken to Lexus Edinburgh for the service ??. Seems a long trip from Andy's location, Northampton to Edinburgh for a service..
  21. Clarification, tyres fitted to the front wheels Dohhh!!
  22. Maybe the tyres should have been described as narrower in width rather than thinner
  23. Fitted a Blackvue DR650 front and rear setup. Pricey, but very discreet and good quality recordings.
  24. Remember to ask for LOC discount if can get it..
  25. Try Cairo or Damascus. There is a large roundabout in Damascus quaintly called Russian Roulette, I found out why
