  1. Had a search and it seems that EMac are a company which seems to provide the administration of service plans for various dealers. You could say that at present I am not a happy bunny with Lexus Edinburgh, at no time did they clearly advise me that this was being handled by a third party company at a higher cost than the official Lexus prices.. Also, to compound matters, I am still waiting on receiving information on whether I can take out the extended warranty even though the car is only 6 months old.Bahh Humbug !!!!
  2. Hiya David, your first service seems incredibly cheap. Paying £160.00 for it leaves £747 to be split between two more services. If you have one more at the £160.00 during the three years would mean one of the services costing £587.00.Was the first one slightly different to what is normally classed as a 'minor' service? The invoice states intermediate 10k/1yr service with all the usual consumables, grease and engine flush etc. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC Checked my docs for the service plan and they are with EMAC as well, can't say I have heard of them. I'm still waiting on a reply to my enquiry as to why the service plan was £65 more expensive than the published Lexus prices, but I think I will cancel the plan next week. All in all I do like the car and plan to keep it for a few years, but the legendary Lexus customer care is lacking a bit. Since initially looking at purchasing eight months ago I've had the following;did consider waiting on the NX and the salesman who was going to a launch in Spain said he would send pictures and details - no info received. On buying the IS, I was told that I would be sent the details of the service plan - no info received. Six weeks after collecting the car I went into Lexus and asked them to send me details of the service plan - no info received Took the car back as there was a problem with residue remaining on the roof from the adhesive plastic paint protection, this left two lines fron side to side that needed cleaning off and the roof re-polished. Loose battery terminals As mentioned above, the variable figures for servicing which has not yet been answered or my query acknowledged. I think it's getting close to the time where I will contact Lexus U.K.
  3. Just fired off a mail to Lexus Edinburgh enquiring as to why it costs £1001 for two intermediate and one full service with no LOC discount. But according to Lexus U.K. the three services are priced at £935 and should be eligible for the LOC discount bringing the total down to around the £800 mark.
  4. I purchased the camera from the authorised Blackvue retailer "http://blackvueshop.co.uk", only took a couple of days to arrive.Interestingly on the servicing costs, I had a look at the Lexus U.K. Site and found that their official pricing is £66 cheaper than the amount I paid this afternoon. Need to have a little word in the Lexus ear about that.
  5. Geoff, I bought the Blackvue DR650GW-2CH which comes with both front and rear cameras. I managed to fix the front one behind the rear view mirror towards the right hand side, that way it is hidden virtually completely by the mirror. I took the power cable up to the headlining and easily tucked it in all the way to the L/H pillar. Unclipped the pillar cover to route the cable in behind it, and then tucked it into the weatherstrip down to the bottom of the dash. There is a small plastic panel that runs the width of the glove box that can be eased out a bit and the cable tucked in. At the centre console, you can pull of the triangular trim piece and run the wire behind this and eventually continue to the glove box. This is only temporary just now as once I get the rear once fitted I'll hard wire everything into the fuse box and fit the module that powers the system while parked and shuts off at a predetermined battery voltage. As far as the picture quality goes, fairly impressed so far and hopefully it'll get better when it stops piddling down. Let me know if you have any more questions.
  6. Popped into Lexus Edinburgh today to take out a 3 servicing plan and extend the warranty by two years taking it to five. I was surprised to find out that no one in the dealership knew if I could extend the warranty this far in advance, the original runs till July 2017. They are going to contact Lexus and check it out. Also, it seems that the Gold members discount does not apply to the service plan, I was hoping to get a bit of a discount on the £1001 cost of the first three services. The reason for no discount was that they said the the plan was already discounted and can't have a double discount. I would be interested on any views on this and any info to the contrary. But on a better note, I managed to install a Blackvue dash cam today and the wiring although temporary for the moment is pretty well hidden. Just need to work on the rear camera and get the wiring all tidied up correctly.
  7. Well, just arrived back at the airport, unlock the car and jump in. Press the start button and nothing happens. No ignition, nothing at all ?. Had to use the metal key to open the boot and lo and behold the battery terminals are loose !!. Give them a bit of a wiggle and we have lift off !. I head for the dealers as its only a couple of miles away and got thing tightened up, but was told that they had not seen this kind of fault before. Sorry to say, but Lexus needs to check out this forum for hints and tips on what's going wrong. A couple of hours later I'm of out again and noticed that when it's freezing cold, there is a fast ticking/cracking noise from the back window area which stops once the interior warms up, I'll need to keep my eye on that one.
  8. And now to follow up on the subject of a spacesaver, does anyone know the sizes or the type of car to get one if you're looking for one from a scrap yard.
  9. Planning on extending my warranty as well seeing as it's a good price. Just a shame about the servicing costs, been quoted £1001 for the first three services. Bang goes the Mars bars and Smarties for Christmas !!

  13. I'm glad I got my side body mouldings, door edge protectors and sill plates a couple of months ago. I just can't figure out why Lexus does not sell these items in the U.K. as I think they would probably be a good seller. I was considering getting the front bumper and bonnet protection film, but it looks as though that's cancelled unless I do a stopover in MIA or JFK.
  14. I think they mention lack of performance because they're basically wannabe racing drivers that failed to meet their own expectations. 90% of the reviews just trot out the same drivel based on a very short test drive and as they are "in the media" they expect everyone to believe them, just like reality stars. Have a good long test drive and make your mind up, I think you will be impressed.
  15. The low P/S oil could be an internal leak in the steering rack, it slowly leaks past a seal in the rack and a certain amount is not returned to the reservoir. We have several Toyota Pick Ups at work with this problem and at the moment the oil is just topped up as soon as you hear the pump starting to whine a little bit. Eventually they will have to replace the racks when they are full up with oil, or loosen the rack boots to drain the excess out. I would say to just keep an eye on it every couple of months at a time.
  16. Just received a quote from Lexus Edinburgh for three yearly services, two intermediate and one full all for the princely sum of £1001, ouch. I also ask them to include the extra two years warranty in the hope of a bit of discount seeing as I was taking the two plans. £795 for the extended warranty. Total price £1796, but I've not yet checked if they will honour the LOC discount. Oh well, that's the Smarties and Mars Bars screwed for Christmas..
  17. Cant see why you cant get it done at a toyota dealer if you want it cheaper. Toyota, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Mini all within a couple of hundred yards of each other and part of the same group so there is limited options available.
  18. Not too impressed with the servicing costs, Lexus £773 for 3 services, but only £425 on the Mercedes. I think Lexus are chancing their arm and hoping that customer loyalty will kick in.
  19. Doing a mixture of town and A road driving I was showing an average of 55mpg on the first tankfull.
  20. Forgot to mention that the price included a dealer discount of £1750 for taking a two year PCP plan. The dealer was really pushing that and in the end it made sense rather than paying it off straight away.
  21. Picked up a Luxury with heated/vented electric seats and upgraded satnav for £31,000 back in July. I would trawl thru the likes of Autotrader etc and see what's on offer. I'll be back home in a couple of weeks so I'm going in to the dealers and see what kind of deal I can get for a three year service plan and extend the warranty to five years.
  22. Reckon whoever done the PDI needs their nuts tightened
  23. Been around for a few years now, but never used them. I'm not sure how long they would stand up to regular washing and polishing seeing as they are very thin.
