  1. To celebrate a mileage event, I treated my 430 to a valet, machine polish, and ceramic coating. Looks a lot shinier than usual!
  2. Certainly more appreciated in the US https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=646147471&allListingType=all-cars&makeCodeList=LEXUS&modelCodeList=LS430&city=Pasadena&state=CA&zip=91123&location=&searchRadius=500&marketExtension=include&isNewSearch=false&showAccelerateBanner=false&sortBy=relevance&numRecords=25&dma=&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fall-cars%2Flexus%2Fls-430%2Fpasadena-ca-91123%3Fdma%3D%26searchRadius%3D500%26location%3D%26marketExtension%3Dinclude%26isNewSearch%3Dfalse%26showAccelerateBanner%3Dfalse%26sortBy%3Drelevance%26numRecords%3D25&clickType=listing
  3. I did indeed buy my current car from these guys in Bolton. Their "specialism" is getting to private buyers quickly with cash offers for good cars, then marking them up optimistically. I can't complain, as otherwise I wouldn't have got mine. 41k miles, one owner, serviced by supplying dealer every year. Paid £8.5k, after calling the dealer and checking. Subsequently spoke to the owner, who only used it when he had guests and needed 4 seats, hence the low mileage. It's my daily driver, and I have been happy with it. But that's no guarantee for any other car from this source. Good luck! Jon
  4. Worth a try? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234283346685?hash=item368c602afd:g:ag4AAOSwlThdBRei
  5. Hi Dom For someone who knows the cars, going over the bridge to Osaka in Newport is an option. Jon
  6. I upgraded my Honor 9 to Honor 20Pro (fabulous camera!) which uses bluetooth 5 and is still fine with the car. I appreciate that doesn't help much - sorry!
  7. Interesting. Some members will recall I bought my LS430 from these guys 2.5 years ago for (I think) £8450. A lot of people thought that was way too much then but my logic was one owner, annual service from supplying dealer, total mileage 42k made it about as good as it gets. Certainly haven't regretted it. Jon
  8. I totally understand it. I swapped my lovely 04 430 for an even lovelier 04 430. 133k miles and 4 owners versus 1 owner, 42k miles and supplying dealer service every year. Enjoy!
  9. I paid £2,300 for my first LS430 in 2015 and sold it 4 years later for £3k. I am not expecting depreciation to work quite that well in future. Ireland ramping up road tax for big engines caused a glut and drove down prices dramatically. A few people thought I overpaid for my current 430 - £8.5k - but it's pretty close to perfect for me, and that's not a bad price for perfection. ☺️
  10. Thanks for that. Took it out today and cranked up the volume. Not a hint of the buzz that was there before. Phew!
  11. Well some things decay regardless of condition and mileage, and 430 owners are generally familiar with the frailties of the subwoofer foam surround. So today I have been round with the silicone, which I am now leaving to set. It worked on my previous 430 so I am hopeful for this one. The alternative seems pretty expensive if it doesn't work . .
  12. Really?? I thought mine was expensive. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202107104879873 Jon
  13. That was my thinking, apart from the rebuild. My old 430 was fine, but I spent what was described as silly money on another one, also 2004. One owner, full supplying dealer service history every year from new, and 40k on the clock. I didn't see it as silly. Jon
  14. Seconded. There are at least three Gloucestershire Lexus owners make the trek down to Newport because of their expertise.
  15. They were reluctant, but I managed to prise mine off in situ with a screwdriver.
  16. I bought a set of 4 for £30 which work a treat. https://www.ebay.co.uk/ipp/173300871134?transactionId=2241007037007&_trksid=p2047675.l48352 But the vendor seems to want £330 now! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4x-Front-Bonnet-Tailgate-Gas-Struts-Lift-Supports-for-Lexus-LS430-Sedan-01-06/173300871134?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
  17. When I bought mine the dealer said they had picked it up from the owner's underground car park in Central London. I looked up the address on Google Maps. The road ran off Grosvenor Square, and on StreetView it was the only house that didn't have an Embassy flag on it. No wonder he could afford to get it serviced by Lexus Park Lane every year! Jon
  18. Are you using this one? I thought it was a major step up in quality from units I had tried before. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07MV6Q32P/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=AKD5GY2EH01EV&psc=1
  19. Yes indeed. It's clocking up the miles at a faster rate as my daily driver.
  20. After 16 years, my car has just passed 50,000 miles. May she carry on for many more! Jon
  21. I can testify that this device works very well from the rear socket in my car. It has stalled my plans to put a Grom-type unit in. Sound quality is very good. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07XYY9W2X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Jon
