  1. I meant they are supplied with a 12v cigar style plug, which most are! I take your point though.
  2. A dash camera for a PC wow that's a first sounds more like a web cam Car dash cameras tend to be 12v so a USB would not work.
  3. The IS has two USB sockets as standard. Most cameras have a 12v cigar type plug.
  4. Run the cable along & under the headlining just push it in no great skill required and plug it into the 12v socket in the centre console. Ed
  5. If it was like that at purchase and as it has done 92k it may well be classed as normal wear & tear. Looks pretty good for the mileage imho. Worth asking though.
  6. 10 years ago some fuel which the majority used without issue did cause BMW some sleepless nights though!!
  7. That was down to BMW engines having nikasil process aluminium liners which was affected by sulphur in some fuel and not always cheap supermarket stuff. The one story which is true is the Tesco & Morrisons fuel contamination of 2007. No main branded fuel company was involved so it seems. http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motoring/dirty-fuel-blights-thousands I will continue to fill my GS up with supermarket fuel around one tank in 4. I definitely notice the difference driving it. Ed
  8. Both are deluded imho. My car runs smoother on Shell compared to Tesco fuel then again I may also be deluded.
  9. I like Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyres as they suit the GS very well. Very comfortable being fairly soft walled but still rated XL and grip well dry or wet. Next choice Goodyear Asymmetric 3. Much depends on the type of car. Ed
  10. Nice car black with red leather is a great combination. A leather touch up may work it probably doesn't have tobe an exact match if the repair is small. This is but one example of one option, there are loads more!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Leather-Vinyl-Touch-Up-Scratch-Repair-Pen-All-Colours-Custom-Paint-Dye-/251221226211?var=&hash=item3a7df3b2e3:m:mDOK62qaYYTIYjrTs1X9ahg Ed
  11. Thats a bodge Find a permanent & switched live and tap into ,solder & heat-shrink method. Inline fuses are readily available. Off the top of my head I don't know the colour codes but what feeds the radio/ice would be a good starting point. Easy enough to find with a multimeter. The 12v accessory socket for the switched live or what feeds the interior lights by the rear view mirror. Ed
  12. Wheel alignment does not need adjusting very often if at all. My last car was 14 years old and it never required it. I know because it drove straight & true and all 4 tyres wore evenly. One time I clipped the kerb quite hard enough to burst the tyre. Even then I just renewed the tyre and nothing in the alignment changed. Every time I had new tyres the fitter offered to check it and I declined. imho the last thing you want is a Kwickfit youth messing with the geometry settings. I would think twice before buying tyres from them. If it aint broke don't fix it! My tyre choice is Uniroyal Rainsport 3. Just had 4 fitted. The ride is more comfortable then the Dunlop sport maxx they replaced. I was tempted by cross climates but not had any snow here this year and I doubt we will now. £240 more than the Uniroyals which have a higher rated wet grip. Goodyear Asymmetric 3 are another good choice imho. Ed
  13. I ran the wire along the headlining and down the door pillar hidden under the trim and plugged it into the 12v socket in the centre armrest. Ed
  14. Not kwik fit fiter proof though trust those goons to your Lexus at your peril imho. On my previous car they stuffed up the tracking to the point it scrubbed one of the tyres bald. They did admit it and replaced the tyre for free. Maybe they are better now but there are better independents. If buying new tyres look at the wear on the old set & if evenly worn across the tread then the tracking doesn't require adjusting or need a "free check" by a youth.
  15. I am surprised the MY17 IS still has a manual handbrake. Electric auto hand brake on the GS doesn't stick no matter how long it has been on. Ed
  16. Fog lights give the car a stylish look imho. I like how they look on my GS even if I rarely switch them on. They looked great on the IS and the MY17 looks bare without them imho. Not even available as an optional extra. Ed
  17. Same here, saying that they do also do a Hybrid system healthcheck included in the price. They also email a video of a mechanic checking over and last itme found one horn was below spec and replaced it free. A tpms sensor also failed and they spotted that to again replaced immediately under warranty. I have an extended warranty so have to go to Lexus. A full Lexus service history is worth something at trade in time. It is a little bigger than the IS300H and as i went from an Fsport my GS for sure drove different but I prefer comfort over a hard sport suspension. Main dealer servicing is expensive for not much but they have you by the short & curlies if you want the extended warranty to be valid. Once out I will probably go independent. I find the ride quality to be excellent on all surfaces. Superb seats to. Depends what you are comparing it to for me it was the hard Fsport suspension and similar on my car before that. Ed
  18. So you dont know then. so why say:- . My previous Fsport drove superb on Rainsports. Dunlop Sport Max are a hard compound tyre imho which is why they can do big mieages. XL or not makes little noticeable difference. How do you find Bridgestone Turanzas? I found them to be a hard tyre. If you have no experience of something why say things which are not true? or put imho!!
  19. It looks like separate fog lights have been deleted on all trim levels for MY17. Ed
  20. Old thread revival. I doubt the hybrid system would allow electric only if out of petrol. The engine & the motor work together. Anyone ever tried it?
  21. Speed rating in far from pointless.I would rather fit tyres as specified (or higher) for the car as you risk invalidating your insurance if not. Dunlop tyres tend to be hard the XL makes little difference. Uniroyal Rainsports are a softer tyre still rated XL. Different manufacturers different characteristics. I haven't described anything. You said it!!
  22. I have a GS and previously a IS300H Fsport. I agree with you, although essentially the same drive train it seems even better in the GS. imho because the sound insulation is better you dont here the engine so much so performance seems better. I am consistently getting better MPG to. The boot is plenty big enough for us and I have no need for a ski flap. Dont SKI cannot think of a worse "holiday". Friends go on them & come back with sprains & various injuries & exhausted!! Saying that they fly there so leave the car at home and hire the skis at the resort. On one occasion when contemplating buying some long work tops, I may have folded the seats flat, I just used the wife's estate car instead. I didn't buy a Lexus to fetch large loads from B&Q!! Ed
  23. Uniroyal Rainsports are XL but a relatively compliant tyre. Different characteristics form different manufacturers makes more of a difference imho. The non XL choice is very limited for my GS probably because it is a heavy car that is specced to have them. Maybe true for the IS300H to. I doubt anyone would retro fit runflats. Ed
