  1. Yeah try that, and then clean around the nozzle hole with an old tooth brush (wet the bristles slightly). You might want to mask around the nozzle to prevent grazing it and the bonnet... :winky:
  2. Have you tried Goodyear? That maybe a good compramise for what your looking for. I've never driven an RX on bridgestones, but I thought the potenzas on my uncles IS weren't so bad. I guess on a bigger/heavier vehicle like yours these elements are more exaggerated...
  3. I'm sorry Chap, but I'm going to disagree with you on this... You broke the car and when you took it to Lexus to fix, the cost has put you off. What are Lexus supposed t do? Give you a freebie fix for you breaking your car? I don't think you can fault Lexus for diagnosing the fix for a fault that you created - albeit its more expensive to fix than you would have imagined but the point is you were fiddling with menus you perhaps really shouldn't have, then when you broke it - expect Lexus to fix it for little or no cost? Sorry, but its not their fault now is it? I can only suggest is you try another dealer (from a different parent company) and see what they say? Sorry to hear about your predicament, but some functions and menus are protected from the User for a reason... I can see both sides to this problem. Yes, maybe he shouldn't have been playing with the hidden menus, but maybe he didn't know what the worst outcome could be!? If he found the 'fix' on the hidden menus then we'd all be praising him and asking him how.... So I wouldn't give someone the third degree about it... Anyhow back on topic, Lexus shouldn't have to give any freebies, but they should certainly speak with the appropriate technical people to find another suitable fix (maybe software related) rather than just saying, we'll just put a new unit in. Sounds like they haven't diagnosed anything, just gone for the easiest option to them and not the most sensible. There is obviously nothing wrong with the hardware, the car simply needs to be 'reset' somehow. Hats off for coming clean, but try Lexus GB or your dealer principal to see if they can get intouch with the guys that build these things. I'm sure they'd understand that a £2k fix isn't the first port of call. Good luck and keep us posted on how you get on...
  4. Hmm... do you have the CD or DVD version mate? I just checked and it's definately there once you press 'Menu' on the keypad (DVD version).
  5. Yeah I normally fire up the car, and 'do the hack' within 10/15 secs. This also gives the engine a little bit of time to get the oil running round. My passenger enters our destination...
  6. I've read there's issues ie interference with the speed pulse wire where people have tried to tap into this. So the safest way is: (note you will have to do this each time you start the car). 1. Press the "MENU" button 2. Press the "DVD" icon at very top of the screen 3. You should see the ver. of software you are currently using. (eg ver. 4.1) 4. Press the "UP" arrow on the joystick once (note the system won't give the 'beep' sound when you do this, but carry on anyways!) 5. Press the "DOWN" arrow on the joystick once 6. Press the "UP" arrow on the joystick once 7. Press the "DOWN" arrow on the joystick once 8. Press the "RIGHT" arrow on the joystick once 9. You should now see the "secret" menu 10. Press and Hold the "OVERRIDE" until the icon turns green. 11. Press the "BACK" icon 12. You may now enjoy driving & inputting your destination at the same time! Boring bit Do this at your own risk. Please drive safely if you are going to be inputting addresses in your navigation system while driving. I do not want to get sued if you ended up running into a tree, old lady or something when you are using the navigation unit.
  7. Hey everyone, I've just had the chance to get to a computer. I have an update..... I decided to call the After Sales Director this morning to express my dissatisfaction with the service I had received and to ask if I could have a copy of the report completed that showed the damage and also for the offer of the discounted work in writing. He was acutally quite nice and said that he knew his colleagues had been discussing this yesterday afternoon and needed to call them to find out the outcome as he had to leave. He said he would call me back. 5 minutes later, he called back and said that they had agreed to pay for all of the damage and supply me with a hire car while it gets done!!! I am well pleased and want to say thank you to all of you who gave me advice. I took this on board and did what you said and got the outcome I deserve as it wa no my fault. I'm glad I joined this club and want to show people that you shouldn't give up!! Take care all and all the best, A not so angry lexus owner now!!!!! Superb result, a prime example of what can be achieved with the help of LOC and its members!
  8. I'd recommend you clay the car, using something like the Meguiars Quick Clay set. I've got a Porter Cable 7424, you can probably get a cheapy alternative from Halfords.
  9. Welcome to LOC, I hope you enjoy the car. Once discs become warped, they can be re skimmed to bring them back into line. Nothing can be done to the discs via the wheel nuts as these used to mount the alloys to the hub only. (Make sure you torque the nuts up accordingly). Hi Purvesh, Thanks for the welcome, and I am enjoying the car more than I thought I would. Any idea where I could get the discs skimmed and what it will cost? If I don't get them fixed, would other problems follow? Kind regards, RG I've only had mine done under warranty, so I'm afraid I wouldn't know. It does take around an hour though, probably best to get a quote. Also ring around a few garages around your area to see if they offer this service. I must add though, on the Lexus the problem returned and eventually they just replaced the discs and pads anyway. Over time the juddering may become worse and you'll find it difficult to control the steering under moderate to hard braking. So my advice would be don't skimp on a crucial part like this, I'd suggest purchasing a new set, that way you know your safe.
  10. I run all my cars on V power. I have the Shell Citigroup Mastercard which gives me 3p per £1 discount on V power fuel - every little helps!

  12. Really?!? Ok, try Heinz first and then HP.............................. sorry couldn't resist Depending on how desperate you are try your dealer or they do pop up on eBay from time to time...
  13. Re the loan, watch the interest rates for obvious reasons! He'll definately do the cam as he did mine. Good tip, while the other belts are off just get them changed aswell, there very cheap! That way you have piece of mind for some time to come... Again, change the clutch depending on how bad the judder is. The manual IS in the family does have a slight judder from stand still, but with a few more revs applied it's not that noticeable. See what price Derek quotes and ask his advice on it. Mention my name, and he'll look after you :)
  14. Hi Nilesh, I think you first need to decide yourself whether you want the new 250 model or not, what your total budget, how much you intend to use the car etc etc. Naturally being the next generation IS, it is a better car. But you must factor in other elements such as the bigger engine size and running costs that go with it (road tax, insurance, service costs etc etc). That being said, with the current climate conditions, if your dealer gives you a one-off deal then it may be a no brainer! Also the lexus website states service prices start from £128 IIRC and not that they'll firmly be £128. If your looking for everything to be done at a reasonable price, I'd recommend Derek @ Tech One in Sidcup. He's done a full service, and I mean everything (all the fluids and belts) bar the fuel filter (as it's located in the petrol tank) on two of the three IS200s in the family. The third is booked in as we speak. He's an ex Lexus/Toyota senior technician who simply setup his own business right opposite the dealer and has been trading so for many years. :D He'll give you the relevant Lexus stamp and paper work for £39/per hour as opposed to Lexus dealerships rates of £100+ Hope that helps somewhat, good luck in your decision!
  15. Hi, this is my frist post so not sure if i'm doing this right.... I'm not sure where you are but I found this great deal from Lexus Dealer for cars older than four years! See link below.... http://www.onlinelexus.co.uk/Servicing/Fix...or-4-years.aspx Fixed service cost at £128.... I found it by mistake... going to cancel my booked appoinment for Oct and book into Brighton. Good find Nilesh, an excellent first post! :winky: Oh and welcome to LOC...
  16. Agree with Geoffers and Woz, Rob (the owner) @ Ultraleds is a complete plank. Just look at some of these problems, they sound way to familiar for my liking: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic23880.html http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic24949.html Having said that, what do you guys make of this bulb, and where else can we get it apart from him! http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/ultimate-501t10...ite-p-1684.html Blog on it (scroll right to the bottom): http://www.ultra-leds.co.uk/ My question is, it shouldn't be that close to the main beam to get that hot in the first place. Coupled with the HIDs will these bulbs be dimming down and powering backup like a disco rave!? LOL
  17. How did you get on? These seem too white to match my 8000k HIDs
  18. you'll have to buy a DVD not CD from www.lexus-mapupdates.eu however as you don't have your disc in there, ask your parts department to give you the part number of the disc that should have come with your car. From these details you can purchase an updated disc for a cheaper price...
  19. I'd recommend these: http://www.laserlinedirect.com/public/cont...th=/601/605/618 They fit flush with the bumper and look alot better than the majority of aftermarket sensors.
  20. Thanks Jason, it's alot better since you last saw it with the burnt in bird poo. Not even your magic polish would shift it!
  21. Thanks for the nice comments guys! It's going to be hard to keep it this clean all the time though lol. Anees, she's already on EvoT... Urm, let me think - NO! ?!?!
