  1. Thanks John. Not only did they give me a full tank of fuel, they allowed me to drive it to the fuel station even though it still had all its plastic, stickers and foam on! As the sales manager put it 'I didn't want anyone else driving the car before you' 🙂 The Sales team, especially the sales manager, have been brilliant. Even though the ongoing delays weren't their fault, they did their best to make it easy for me. In fact, when I told them that I had already sold my Lexus since I was expecting my new car last year, they agreed to sell me a Cee'd they had in stock and to buy it back when my car arrived at exactly the same value! So, in essence, they lent me a car for 6 months. A couple of issues with the car to sort out yet, so we will see how their service department do, but so far so good. And no plans to leave this forum anytime soon even though I have defected 🙂
  2. Hi all, Apologies for the lack of Lexus content, but some time ago now I agreed to update you on the progress of my new car. As some of you know, I sold my GS450h in Sept last year in anticipation of its arrival. Somewhat delayed longer than I hoped, I finally picked it up yesterday. So, here it is, my new Kia Stinger: Only driven about 200 miles, and since it is still breaking in the engine I haven't had a chance to go above 3000rpm so far, but it is certainly different to my GS! 🙂 Whether it is 'better' is yet to be seen..

  4. Hi Artur, The only ones that I can remember are the HUD, a leather surround for the gearstick and different wheels. There probably are other tweaks, so perhaps someone else on here can shed some light?
  5. To be honest, I have no idea on what to expect for the job. I can't find anything online that matches the specific car. The best I could do is a 2007 GS350. Similar engines so might be useful. The alternative is to pay for access to https://www.lexus-tech.eu/Menu/Repair Official repair manuals on there which you can pay for limited time access at a reasonable cost. That should give you what you need to do the job.

  7. I was just going to suggest the water pump as the pipes don't look like they are leaking. Either that or the thermostat housing. Either way, the only thing you can do at this point I think is dismantle it and have a look.

  10. Hmm, based on what you have said, it does indeed sound like the turbo has had enough. If you grab the impeller does it have any side to side movement?
  11. Well, that is a new one for me! It sounds like air resonating, but apart from checking the pipes, I am not sure what else to suggest. Any other symptoms apart from the sound?
  12. How often does it cut out? All I can suggest at this point is to try a different source to rule out a few more options before potentially looking for a replacement amp.
  13. Welcome AJ, I am by no means an expert, but it sounds like it might be the amplifier. Does it happen regards of the source and is the banging sounds through all the speakers?
  14. Welcome 🙂 There was a slightly different look to the sat nav unit post 2009 I believe. The changes are slightly: We did look at whether it was possible to swap between the two a couple of years ago on here, but I believe the conclusion was that it wasn't straightforward. @Linas.P is right though, the system is woefully antiquated now and it was never the best to start with, so if you really want to upgrade than a Android replacement is probably the best way forward.   15. Welcome Tim, Unfortunately, head gasket failure is not unknown on that engine (although my old IS220d is still going strong at over 170k miles!). Anyway, the original problem that the engines suffered from originally was that the head warped hence the gasket no longer being able to seal properly. I think it was some sort of manufacturing flaw at the factory. The dealers would not take on this kind of tasks since they don't really employ mechanics anymore but rather technicians that just replace parts rather than trying repairs 🙄 I am lead to believe that the head can be skimmed though to make it straight again, and with a new gasket, should work properly. As for a decent garage around your way, sorry, I can't help with that I'm afraid ☹️
  16. What is it with this one that is making it so difficult to move on? I know the colour is a sticking point (I actually don't think it looks that bad), but I believe the wrap doesn't do any damage, it is just very time consuming to remove. So, I would just factor the cost of removal into any price I was willing to pay for it. The MOT history looks good, and with the rarity - especially in Orange - surely someone will want it?
  17. The be fair, neither of those accidents are directly related to the fly by wires systems. The only time I have heard of actual loss of control is in the event of hydraulics failure, but again, that isn't strictly speaking a fly by wire issue. Basically, what I am trying to get at is that, as far as existing systems go, fly by wire has been extremely reliable. Whether it is necessary on a car at this stage is another point entirely, but as Ganzoom says, it is step towards fully autonomous driving with an optional steering wheel.
  18. Surely that can't be the whole story? If all that was wrong with it then why on earth would anyone attempt to scrap it? It makes no sense. It is an SE-L as well, which makes it even worse!
  19. It is obviously hard to say from just he pictures, but I agree with John that it should be feasible to repair it. Hopefully it will be but of course it could very well be that it is worth more in parts, so ultimately it will be stripped for maximum profit. Shame really.
  20. Do you get the car serviced by the main dealer? If so, the Relax warranty should be able to sort out any oil leaks. If not, then it might not be the most straightforward job as I believe the inlet manifold needs to be removed to access the heads. Having said that, it depends on how handy you are with the spanners I suppose.
  21. Looks good 👍 For the damage, I had something similar, so got my local ChipsAway guy to come and repair it at my workplace. Cost about £200 all in.

  23. Well done that man! I am amazed by your perseverance Linas. I am not sure I could have put up with as much as you have. Either way, I hope this is the start of a successful restoration.
  24. You have probably already considered this, but do you have a acquaintance that you might persuade to come over and help you with your brake problem? The reason I say this is that if you drop the car off to a mechanic they will fix it for you, but you won't learn anything. If someone comes to help (even a friendly mobile mechanic), you have the opportunity to observe or perhaps ask a few questions that could be useful the next time you attempt to tackle a similar situation. Well done for trying though.
