  1. You have probably already considered this, but do you have a acquaintance that you might persuade to come over and help you with your brake problem? The reason I say this is that if you drop the car off to a mechanic they will fix it for you, but you won't learn anything. If someone comes to help (even a friendly mobile mechanic), you have the opportunity to observe or perhaps ask a few questions that could be useful the next time you attempt to tackle a similar situation. Well done for trying though.
  2. I went from a IS220d to a GS450h Premier, so I can certainly understand where you are coming from. It was even more of a change for me coming from the manual diesel. That being said, I agree with what you have listed but for me the biggest difference was the performance. Again, moving from the IS, the change was quite drastic! I still miss mine...☹️ Looking forward to see some pics 👍
  3. Isn't this the second time this one has appeared for sale or is the same people?
  4. Techsmith? Do you mean TechStream? If no one here is locate, then it can be found on Ebay for a relatively inexpensive cost.
  5. You mean this one? https://hedgeend.usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/IS250/SE-L-s4cmcqv Utter madness...
  6. That is unlucky Graham. Very annoying having to replace an otherwise perfectly good tyre. I had something similar a few years ago: got a puncture and by the time I got it to the garage the steel bands had been damaged and it needed replacing. Then, a few months later, a paving slab was sticking out of the kerb and ripped a chunk out of another tyre. Fingers crossed you have paid your dues and have appeased the tyres gods now!
  7. Well, this is rather interesting. Don't think I have seen another Vauxhall Omega being kept in a collection! Don't suppose there are any more pictures? I always liked the idea of maintaining a few 'ordinary' cars that can be tinkered with and fixed up, but alas, life got in the way...
  8. I know there are a few websites that lists the part numbers, but I haven't got them to hand at the moment. In the meantime you can try here: https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/ Should hopefully be able to supply it as well.
  9. Have sent you a PM. As for the leak, it is quite hard to tell from the video, but is that a rubber hose attached to the pipe?
  10. Thought you might, but doesn't make it any less true 😄
  11. I remember Sunny 🙂 He, along with the master tech, had a similar experience with my IS when it eventually turned out that the engine mounts needing changing. About a month in the workshop all in, lots of replacement parts changed for free and a final job completed at a very highly discounted price.
  12. I could live with the lilac interior if it wasn't the fact that the interior also features white, red and dark metallic! Having said that, I agree that lilac should never be anyone's first choice. Now, if only someone had painted the outside in a proper colour, it wouldn't have been so bad 🙂
  13. I have had experience of Edgware (used to live nearby), Sidcup (bought my GS there) and Reading (now my local dealer). So you could say I am well versed in dealing with the Jemca group! Overall the experience was very positive. A couple of issues with my GS, but resolved without too much fuss. Edgware road had to deal with a particularly tricky failure under warranty for me and again did very well. Reading did all of the work on my GS and the service was always excellent. So, in my opinion, you should be ok using one of their dealerships.
  14. The HUD was actually standard on the 450h Premier from 2014 onwards when the range had a mild facelift.
  15. Welcome Peter. You do have to press the pedal quite far to get it to light up green, and in my case, basically all the way. It sounds like something might be stopping the pedal from moving all the way easily, so all I can suggest at the moment is to see if you can have a look under there and perhaps check to see if the pedal is moving freely. There is an adjustment for pedal height and free play, but I don't think either of those would help with the clutch switch. You can check the switch to make sure it is working properly if you remove it: However, I suspect this would be more to do with if the light didn't turn green at all no matter how hard you press. Let us know how you get on.
  16. Let's have a look then 🙂
  17. There is a difference between agreeing with and understanding a concept. Do you see that most people cannot afford to rebuild their homes without financial assistance? Do you also see that insurance gives that financial assistance. Lastly, do you agree that a vast majority of people pay a significant sum to have a home as it is required? If so, then the concept of insurance should an easy piece of logic 🙂 Insurance may not directly improve your quality of life, but if you were unable to rebuild your home after it was destroyed, how would that affect your quality of life?
  18. Hi Domo, It might be that the valve is actually stuck. If so, you could take the housing apart and see if it can be cleaned. Otherwise, you would need a copy of the TechStream software from Ebay to run a test to see if the valve is doing what its supposed to be.
  19. Hi Joel. A second IS220d? This must be unprecedented on this forum! 🙂 Although, as an ex IS220d owner myself, I am looking forward to hearing about this one.
  20. Gang, and I mean this with no malice, but I have read quite a few threads on here where you appear to deliberately draw the ire of others with your comments, so I was just wondering why? In this case, how did you think people would react to this statement? I don't have house insurance because my mortgage company demand it. I have house insurance because if my house burned down it would represent an unfathomable loss for me. I would also have car insurance, even if it wasn't mandatory..
  21. Taxation into poverty 😞 I am in a fortunate position to be able to pay for the additional costs, but when you have average familys sitting in the cold because they cannot afford to heat their house, something is seriously wrong. Next it will be, can I afford to leave the house today if pay per mile is introduced... I read today that analysts are predicting that when the energy cap is reviewed in 6 months that it will go up by another £400 per year! Since everyone appears to agree that this isn't a short term fluctuation, at what point does it become a big enough problem that the government actually does something other than raise taxes even higher? They can obviously afford to with things like the write off of £8.7bn in the latest debacle. 🙄
  22. It wasn't this thread, and yes, I believe there was an attempt at a ban. It is always fun when Linas gets involved in a thread 🙂 As for the rest, @doog442 is right, posting this in the ES thread was always going to provoke a certain response, which certainly isn't to imply that it shouldn't have been posted. No owner is going to be happy to have their choice of car criticized, but that doesn't necessarily make the criticism wrong. At some point, you just need to let it go and accept that there is no such thing as the perfect car.
  23. As someone who favours comfort over sportiness, I think the Lexus blend suits fine. However, that isn't for everyone, and for those who want 'dynamic' handling, The ES300h is probably not the way to go. The other problem is that, despite wanting comfort, I also want some go when I press the accelerator, hence my previous car being the GS450h. As Lexus seems to have abandoned this idea, it is a hard sell in that respect. Mainly though, it is the comparison to the German rivals where brands like Lexus suffer. Say what you want, but anyone who has experienced a new 3 or 5 series will see that it is possible to marry comfort and sportiness when it comes to handling and power. Now, there are plenty of reasons for not choosing a BMW, with the big ones being styling, German price tax and reliability; but, if you can look past those, there is no doubt that as an overall package the BMW range is composed of some very capable machines. So, when the ownership experience is taken out of the equation, then as a standalone proposition the ES generally doesn't bode too well against its typical rivals.
  24. He more than liked it. At the time at least, he called it the best car he had ever driven. Also, he was also so impressed with the GSF that he bought one!
  25. Excellent info, thanks John 👍 Strange problem though and the first I am hearing of this happening on the GS.
