  1. Front disc warping was one of the only real gripes I had regarding my GS. It happened to me twice; new discs and pads the first time and then it reoccurred 18 months later. Unlike you though, the dealer wouldn't help and just said I needed new discs and pads. I was told that it might be due to excess heat in the pad area but I can't say for sure if that is what it was. The advice I got was to not hold the car on the brakes after a hard stop as the heat spot caused by the pads can cause the issue. Funnily enough, whilst waiting to decide what to do (including considering skimming the discs are they were barely worn) the problems went away on its own!
  2. With a web address like that, I would think twice about clicking that link even though it is obviously fine in this case. Also, call me old fashioned, but when someone asks for help that I can easily supply, I would rather do so than beat them over the head about the manual, especially in the manner you did. It also doesn't suggest the friendly and generally helpful atmosphere that this forum usually represents, but that is just my opinion.
  3. This one? It is fine to post YouTube videos 🙂
  4. Not everyone has a manual, especially if the car has changed hands a few times and it has got lost along the way.
  5. Thanks Rob. I am in Basingstoke, but happy to go the long way around to get there if you guys have an 'interesting' route in mind 🙂
  6. Anyone else think the current price of fuel is going to be the new 'normal'? Just like when it settled at £1.30ish previously, it seems to have stopped near £1.70 now.
  7. As some who is awaiting delivery of a new EV (Kia Niro) I can tell you that it was mostly about cost and driving experience rather than environmental factors. As my commute to work is now 3 miles, an EV is ideally suited and works well. The residuals look good and, despite the ever increasing cost of energy, it makes a good counter balance compared to my Stinger with regard to running costs.
  8. Octopus Energy are currently offering drivers of EV's a tariff that is 7.5p/kWh between 00:30 - 04:30. https://octopus.energy/go/ The flip side is it is more expensive at other times. Still, for people that use their EV's heavily, it would be a good saving. It does require a smart meter though, which I am reluctant to get, so not sure I am going to use it once my EV arrives.
  9. Welcome John. I'm afraid to say that if you are only doing short journeys then the 'best' solution is to sell it and get something else. Sorry, but short journeys and IS220d's don't mix well. Having said that, for this particular issue, I agree with Steve, just get a used part and try it. If it doesn't work, then there are other suspects, such as EGR valves, which are cheap and easy to investigate.
  10. hg, in this context, is short of Head Gasket. IS220d's had an inherent flaw that saw a problem with head gaskets failing. It is less common now as perhaps the problem never developed on the car or it has had the gasket replaced. Still something to consider if you contemplating increases the power output.
  11. I have now installed 2 AAWireless units (my brother's and mine) and both have worked flawlessly with installation taking less than 5 minutes. In fact, I am about to order a 3rd as my wife's new car isn't going to have wireless AA as standard.
  12. You are right Ed about being spoiled by Lexus quality. Whilst I love my Stinger, the interior fit and finish is bad. You would not believe the number of squeaks and rattles my 2 and a half month old car has! No comparison to my previous GS. Having said that, the mechanics, materials, technology and - subjectively - the looks are certainly on par, if not superior, to the Lexus. Also, if you can get yourself over to Waylands Kia in Reading, I have received excellent service from them until now, which is why we have a new Kia Niro EV on order with them at the moment! I sat inside an EV6 the other day whilst waiting for the Niro and was very impressed by the interior. I have the Sales Manager's mobile number, so let me know if you want me to arrange something for you 🙂
  13. I have to admit that the omission of the multimedia system didn't sit well with me at all considering the significant cost that a failure would incur. Does this mean that the Relax warranty is now only excluding the headlights and suspension versus the old Extended Warranty? Good result either way and somewhat restores the faith that Lexus seem to be putting into their cars again.
  14. I assume E10 is what is referred to as Normal (standard) and E5 is 'super unleaded' such as Shell V Power? In which case, E10 is still hovering around 171-173.9p here.
  15. You don't have to put your phone number in if you don't want to. As for PM's, you can send one either from someone's profile: Or from the envelope icon on the top right of the page: It will then prompt you if someone has sent you a message in return. Best of luck.
  16. As of this afternoon, Shell in Basingstoke was still 172.9p ☹️ A couple of others about but roughly the same price, so it looks like there are still large discrepancies depending on where you live.
  17. Same experience for my GS when I bought it from Sidcup. True, they should have prepared it better as some of the faults were very obvious, but no quibble in getting everything repaired once I pointed them out. Lent me the sales manager's RX450 for a week whilst taking care of mine as well.
  18. Hi Conor, I'm afraid it can be quite hard to diagnose without the Toyota TechStream software, so do you have a copy? If not, cheap ones can be found on Ebay. The suggestion is that the fuel pressure sensor is faulty: If so, you need to check the values live using TechStream to see where they fall compared to these: It is then a case of further investigation if the values are outside these ranges. Hope this helps.
  19. That is a good price indeed. 174.9p here at my local Shell, so quite a big discrepancy depending on where you are it seems.
  20. Not sure if it is just me but some of the picture links are broken when I try and view the page:
  21. Am I reading this right that the IS throttle body is £500ish and the CT one is £90 and the only difference is a bend on a pipe?!? At some point you have going to have to chronicle what you have done to get this car back to roadworthy condition again!
  22. Hope you get better soon Mike 👍 Take your time; I'm sure the LS will be just as pristine whenever you are ready 🙂
  23. Perhaps there is hope yet if prices continue to fall rapidly. What are the chances of going back to £1.30 though? Slim I would say, at least in the short term. Strange to think that we are hoping for 'only' £1.30 per litre 😞
