    lexus ES

Welcome Daniel. Excellent choice of vehicle, especially the Takumi spec (that is the one I would want as well). If you don't mind me asking, what was your previous car and how did you find the experience of owning it? From what you have said, the suggestion is that it was a BMW? Thanks.
  2. I wholeheartedly agree with all of those sentiments Bernard, especially the Putin ones! Can I also add: End to all strike action with a reasonable solution. Cost of living back to manageable levels (good levels would be a stretch too far I think!). Lexus to change their minds and decide to bring the new IS to the UK. Happy New Year to you all and fingers crossed for a better 2023!
  3. Hi Marc, This seems to suggest it would fit all models: https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-gs-phase-4-detachable-towing-hitch/ I would suggest giving them a call to confirm though.
  4. Hello AFlex, There are a few potential fixes for the problem you are describing, so fingers crossed it is something simple. First, you could check for adjustment in the pedal free play: If that doesn't work, then the pedal and hook springs are located here: Lastly, the clutch master cylinder might be at fault, which is quite painful to replace as it requires all the lower dash panels on the drivers side removed in order to access it. Best of luck!
  5. Thanks for the info @Phil0110. You have reminded me that I haven't updated this thread! Anyway, after speaking to Declan and Daniel I have ordered a SolarEdge system from Kembla. So far they have been knowledgeable and helpful, so thanks for the recommendation 👍 On order are 16 x Jinko Tiger Pro 54c 420W N-Type All Black Mono Panels, SolarEdge 5000 HD Wave inverter, SolarEdge 5kW Smart Energy Hot Water Heater and SolarEdge Energy Bank 10kWh Battery. Fingers crossed we are looking at a Feb/March installation. It would also be remiss of me not to mention the considerable amount of help @Phil xxkr has very kindly provided me. Thanks Phil! 🙂
  6. Hi David, Apologies for stating the obvious but if the switch doesn't show any lights, have you checked to see if it is working properly? If you are handy with a multimeter then you can try the following:
  7. I had a 900 back in the day in a very bizarre brown colour! 1987 model I believe but rare as it was the saloon version. Still got some photos somewhere that I need to dig out. Loved the quirks such as the key being next to the handbrake. Less fun was the aforementioned handbrake operating on the front calipers that never seemed to work properly, or the strange clutch on the front of the engine with the gearbox underneath it! Such a shame that they ceased making cars..
  8. Glad to hear they are still doing well 👍 It would be nice to go back there if I ever get myself back in a Lexus again.
  9. Might be cost of living has got the better of him? I am even considering moving the Stinger on as my mortgage rate and energy usage will mean a massive increase in my bills come April ☹️
  10. Welcome Nas, The coolant should be pink, but that is assuming the correct Toyota fluid was used. If so, then washer fluid would be my guess, especially as the washer liquid container lives in that area.
  11. Indeed, it is so. According to the sales manager at my local dealer, there are currently 4 being produced at the factory that are available and that's it. It is a shame that the car isn't being offered in the UK anymore, but I suppose it is understandable. Having said that, it would have been nice if it's 'replacement' wasn't a SUV, like Phil says. The EV6 is a great car, but in very few ways is it related to the Stinger, so it is not exactly a like-for-like for any potential owners. Nice to know that Pistonheads considers me a legend 🙂
  12. Thanks for the info Kieran. Good to get some pricing as well since it can be quite difficult to pin down estimates considering how much can be customised in the setup. The way things are going, I would be happy for an all-in system with battery at 6.5KwH for £15k ish. I already have a Zappi from Myenergi, so I will be looking into the possibility of the Eddi as well. Already with Octopus as well, but don't currently have a smart meter (it is being installed in a couple of weeks). Since I will have my Kia Niro EV by the end of the month, timely indeed for the cheap tariff you mentioned.
  13. What's the bets it does get produced but then isn't available in the UK?
  14. That is brilliant and exactly what I was after. Thanks very much Colin 👍 I will give them a call tomorrow.
  15. Hi all, The wife and I are considering getting solar panels installed on the house along with a battery. Just wanted to see if there were any recommendations on installers as I can't seem to find anyone that is even willing to come and have a look for a quote at the moment (understandable I suppose, considering the current energy pricing)? Also, any feedback from anyone who has done it? Any typical costs would also be good to see what it will work out to in the end. Thanks.
  16. Not sure how you reached that conclusion considering he shows exactly how it works out for the specific example he used, which is the RC-F? Also, if you accept that he knows his numbers and engineering - highly likely if you look at his channel as a whole - then the answer kind of speaks for itself?
  17. Interesting article. I can see it working for things like energy storage and trains, but the part that stuck out to me, in the context of this forum, is this: "Something similar has already happened with cars. Back in the 1970s and 80s, many saw hydrogen as the answer for greening automobiles. Jack Nicholson wowed onlookers in the 1970s with a car fuelled by what we would today call "green hydrogen" (see, I told you none of this is very new). But in the intervening period battery technology has improved so dramatically that most experts now agree that batteries have won that race." Also, Engineering Explained has a good video on YouTube explaining why hydrogen won't work for a sports car (specifically a RC-F): As you can see from what the video suggests, hydrogen isn't looking promising for all vehicle applications.
  18. I used Lexus Reading for quite a few years with my IS and GS and they were very good. Haven't been there in a while, but I don't imagine it has changed all that much. They were very helpful with the exception of one time, which to be fair was a little ambiguous in nature. Overall though, I would happily go back there for my dealer requirements were I to own a Lexus again.
  19. @Initial P if you are heading over this way any time, let me know and you can happily have a look and ask as many questions as you like 🙂 As for the gearbox, it is not double clutch; rather a traditional torque converter auto, albeit 8 speed. Shifts fairly quickly in manual mode, so I can't really complain.
  20. Pete, why don't we continue this conversation on my other thread? Don't want to distract from my previous GS as it deserves better 🙂
  21. Apart from having 5 distinct squeaks and rattles, it is good. 🙂 That and the fact that after 3300 miles I have averaged 23 mpg! The latter was somewhat expected, although slightly worse than I predicted. Having said that, these are minor things and it still looks good, goes very well and is very comfortable, so I can't complain.
  22. That's where I remember it from 🙂 How's the new car Vlad?
