  1. My old driving instructor always told me, "Gears to go, brakes to slow" It's generally cheaper to replace pads and discs than transmission components. As for putting the transmission into neutral, as Andrew says above, more likely to cause additional wear.
  2. Can't you use the parking sensors? These will give a good indicator as to how close you are.
  3. Be careful in using the electronics when in auxiliary mode as you are running on the auxiliary 12v battery alone and it's known that these have little charge reserve. If sat waiting for Mrs NemesisUK I will leave the car in Ready mode and in P and let the traction battery power everything. The ICE will start and stop to maintain the charge level
  4. Sounds normal, lift off the revs will naturally drop and then rise again when the accelerator is depressed again.
  5. What make of charger do you have? The likes of CTek are maintenance chargers, designed to be left connected for extended periods of time. The official Lexus advice is attached below. Maintenance of hybrid battery.pdf
  6. "The diesel pump nozzle is bigger than most petrol filler necks, so it doesn't really fit. That makes it far less common to put the wrong fuel in a petrol car than putting petrol in a diesel car." https://www.theaa.com/breakdown-cover/advice/wrong-fuel-advice#:~:text=The diesel pump nozzle is,petrol in a diesel car.
  7. One must disclose the variant/trim level of the model (e.g. Sport, Takumi, etc.) this isn't seen as a modification, simply the vehicle you have but the variants will have different spec levels and may incur different repair costs so insurers need to know the variant/trim level. Anything done to the car after it left the factory is considered a modification.
  8. In the UK one is advised in the Highway Code not to park during the day facing against the traffic flow (rule 239) but one MUST NOT park on a road at night facing against the direction of the traffic flow unless in a recognised parking space. (rule 248 and Laws CUR reg 101 & RVLR reg 24) https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/waiting-and-parking-238-to-252 Generally drivers do abide by these rules but I guess, unless there is an accident, if one didn't it's highly unlikely one would get ticketed
  9. Sounds like the dealership that did the service forgot to reset the service reminder. Maybe just pop into the (or any) dealership and get them to plugin their Techstream and reset it to the correct timescale?
  10. I think you may have this the wrong way round. Diesel is used as a lubricant and adding petrol strips this from the various moving parts depending on this. https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/know-how/wrong-fuel-recovery/#:~:text=Putting petrol in a diesel car is far more serious, well away from the ignition.
  11. The cargo ship left the port of Bremerhaven in northern Germany at around 15:00 local time on Tuesday on course for Port Said in Egypt. So no chance of any Lexus cars on board as the ship would be heading back to the Far East?
  12. From the LRA terms and conditions regarding recovery after an accident.. "If Your Car has a Breakdown as a result of a motor accident and You have comprehensive cover under Your motor insurance policy then, on request by You or (in Your absence) the Authorised Driver and subject to the following conditions, We will arrange for Your Car to be transported from the scene of the Breakdown to the nearest Lexus Centre or, alternatively, to another single destination in the United Kingdom chosen by Your motor insurers at their cost:" https://d3rvezpmgp265q.cloudfront.net/lexusone/lexgbenv11/LRA-brochure_tcm-3157-1272758.pdf Those three words in bold would mean one would need to get authorisation from the insurer that they would foot the bill. My guess is they would prefer to use their own nominated recovery service?
  13. That's where the downloaded pdf version comes in handy, available on your mobile device 👍
  14. I don't recall if both the driver's and passenger's doors had mechanical key locks under the door handle? The handbook does reference the differences between LHD and RHD versions when describing switch gear and dash layout etc.. but don't make reference to LHD/RHD when detailing unlocking with the blade key Why would Lexus produce locks that operate differently depending on which side the steering wheel is?
  15. Interesting.. The handbook shows turning to the left locks the door.. ■ Opening the trunk Turn the mechanical key clockwise to open.
  16. You need to clean/vacuum the vents that supply cooling air to the battery. Check out this thread
  17. According to the maintenance doc I posted above the HV battery should be recharged every 2 months It also recommends disconnecting the auxiliary battery -ve terminal if storing for more than 30days. Obviously one would have to reconnect to perform the HV recharge cycle
  18. You can reset the benchmark pressure at which the TPMS will light the indicator. You just need to follow the reset procedure shown in the handbook, after finding the reset button low in the driver's footwell panel.
  19. You can check out the version here https://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/Shop/Index
  20. As I understand it these things come in coded blocks, to change one thing others have to change also. Unless you can get the tech used to code units as they do on the production line, I don't hold out much hope. There was a chap posting on the forum who had that sort of knowledge but iirc he was from USA. Forget any dealership entertaining the idea...
  21. This would probably require the coding to be changed to N.America/Canada region and likely to impact many other subsystems that wouldn't be compatible with driving in the EU region I enquired about coding the adaptive headlamps on my RX to come on at lower speeds and change pattern/spread as is the case in Europe but unfortunately not possible
