  1. The official battery maintenance advise below.. Maintenance of hybrid battery.pdf
  2. I retro-fitted headlamp washers to my C class Merc and it took my trusted indie ages to figure out the wiring as the loom was there (it was the same for the windscreen washer) but important control wires were missing within it. Does the dash of the IS have the solar sensor dome fitted? Or even a location for it?
  3. I took out a service plan via the official Lexus website and payments are collected by Planmyservice LLP on behalf of Lexus UK (although in the body of the contract the service plan provider is identified as eDynamix UK Limited,) It is not tied to any franchise and services can be done in any Lexus/Toyota dealership in the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man, or the Channel Islands.
  4. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" It will always cost the dealership to apply software updates in time/money by tying up a bay and pc. There's always the potential for unforeseen problems.
  5. I agree, a very reasonable modification for many valid reasons. In my case the front flexible pipes had perished so seemed a good time to 'upgrade'. Oh, no. Not according to my then insurers (Direct Line) who said they would refuse to cover me if I fitted braided pipes as it would label me as an enthusiastic/aggressive driver and a greater risk. Fitting lowered coil-over suspension only incurred a £50 increase in premium. Perhaps it was a 'mod to far' ...
  6. Sounds like it needs a good "Italian tune-up" immediately prior to the test. Take the car out for some high (legal) speed running at high revs and strong acceleration for a good 30mins
  7. I think the warming due to friction in use will overshadow any ambient temperature effects. Even on the smoothest of surfaces the shock is constantly vibrating
  8. What year was the car first registered, as a working TPMS system is an MoT requirement on cars after 2015
  9. What does your insurer think to the modification? Mine refused to cover me if I did it on the Merc I had
  10. To start building? Could be 6-8 months depending on orders, parts supply etc..
  11. Nothing stopping one from turning them on manually.. That said my Mercedes had the auto lights on with wipers, as it's a requirement in Germany.
  12. Have you checked the Customisation section in your owner's handbook?
  13. Don't leave the transmission in N as the system can't recharge the hybrid battery even if the engine is running.
  14. "Approximately 80% of the vehicles on UK roads already meet minimum ULEZ emissions standards: Euro 4 for petrol (from January 2006) and the tougher Euro 6 for diesel (from September 2015). This means that every petrol or petrol-electric hybrid Lexus produced since January 2006 is ULEZ compliant and therefore exempt from paying this surcharge." https://mag.lexus.co.uk/london-congestion-charge-ulez/#:~:text=This means that every petrol, exempt from paying this surcharge.
  15. Make sure you are formatting to FAT32 not the default ExFAT Windows now uses, the car cannot recognise ExFAT. I had to use a third party app to force the formatting to FAT32
  16. On average I probably give the car a wipe down every couple of days, maybe every day depending on the conditions.. To do the wheels I now have to sit on the same box I use to reach the centre of the RX roof, my knees are shot!
  17. Another quote from that article.. "It is even worth considering the possibility that Lexus may not of had a problem with their LS400 models at all. If done right, a company can provide ‘excellent’ customer service if they fabricate a fixable issue and then provide first-class service while fixing the issue." Was it simply a publicity stunt? Or was it a cautious reaction to a potentially dangerous fault? Either way it only concerned a relatively small number of vehicles Not the same as a 'simple' loss of a car due to the ingenuity of car thieves. Potentially involving many hundreds of thousands of vehicles..
  18. Is this after declaring themselves independent? 🤓 😉
  19. Presumably because they believe it is unsafe? No reason to mention it otherwise and I personally wouldn't second guess it..
  20. Trunk Monkey may result in prosecution for keeping a primate in unsuitable accommodation.... 😉
  21. Yellow is a very rare colour, for a very good reason. It's not at all popular! If you are getting offers to buy it, bite their hand off. You could be waiting a long time for the special person who wants a high mileage, yellow IS200
