  1. Hi Paul, no problem at all. Sorry to hear that Lexus Notts weren't up to snuff for you tho. Do you still have tyre wear or tracking issues? My 4 wheel alignment was done at ETS in Mansfield, who did a great job and were very accommodating when we found that my rear track adjusters were locked up. They were a bit of a trek for me vs my local Newark outlet but the Mansfield branch came highly recommended by a pal who builds cars (with fully adjustable suspension) and he won't use anyone else. Let me know how you get on. Cheers, Lee
  2. Gotta love how grim the 'detailing' area is. Why did he turn left out of the workshop, to then turn around? - when he could have simply turned right of the workshop! Is there no direct/back street access from the workshop entrance to the visitor parking area out front? Good video quality tho, I really should check out those AUKEY's for the wife's car.
  3. pfft, that's a shame but you suspected it would be pushed again. did they justify the delay?
  4. Maybe I'll catch you at Lex-Tex Autos sometime, Dave mentioned you often pop in for a brew ;)
  5. The old gals annual Hybrid health check was completed this morning at Lexus Sheffield, ODO was 124,686 miles and we got a...PASS 😃 Whilst waiting I came across this neat explanation of what's involved that I hadn't seen before; https://blog.lexus.co.uk/lexus-hybrid-health-check-2/ Maybe it'll help others too as it mentions the 15 year hybrid warranty which is a question that occasionally pops up on the forum.
  6. Yeah, I hadn't realised that the 1UZ was so strong and able to handle more power. Much like the 2JZ, of a similar era, so makes sense. You read plenty about how smooth and reliable the v8 is but rarely hear how tuneable it is. That interior doesn't look like a nice place to be anymore but I bet it's a heap of fun with that many horses.
  7. I've only ever used F1 for tyres and I must say that after my recent experience in reception I agree with other comments. More evidence...whilst waiting my turn an older lady was being served (she clearly had little interest being there) and was being 'up sold' with a big list of extra's off the back of a service. Once the rep figured that she was just saying 'yes' to get on with it so she could get away, he started firing additional changes at her. I felt so bad for her that I almost interjected but I'm not a mechanic, she'd taken the vehicle to a garage of her choice (presumably), it's not my garage, none of my business, etc so against my better judgement I sat tight and waited it out.
  8. Yes, only every x squirts for the headlamps but they only get washed when the headlights are on.
  9. Hi Ganesh @LexIS200Sport, it's good to hear your thoughts and I look forward to seeing how unpopular you become! 🤣 Seriously though, my GS road very badly initially and at that time I'd completely agree with your comments on the ride. However over my 3 years/30k+ of ownership I've ignored a stealers recommendation to replace perfectly serviceable dampers, had 4 wheel tracking sorted (the rear tow adjusters were toast), changed all 4 tyres and increased the tyre pressures. In Normal mode now, the car now rides really well and is only crashy on really bad roads, as you'd expect. The front tyres had lots of tread remaining but had feathered badly, were very noisy so needed replacing and the 4 wheel tracking appears to have fixed the poor wear pattern. It's much more stable now and doesn't need constant steering adjustments. The new tyres appear to have softer side walls so need a few more psi to run comfortably, otherwise they bang/crash. Perhaps you should look at adjusting your tyre pressures a little? I'm monitoring tyre wear to ensure it's even across the tyres. I haven't tried Sport mode recently but agree that it firmed the ride far too much on my earlier set-up, I'll experiment and let you know how it feels now. Where are your creaks coming from? I've read that some owners suffer with creaks around the windscreen, maybe this is an issue on earlier cars too? My center console was terrible but was easily fixed and silenced with some felt over the clips. I haven't noticed any issues with lock, so maybe you are right about subtle face lift changes? Cheers, Lee
  10. Welcome to forum Wayne, thanks for the pic - looks good. What vehicle did your IS replace? Cheers, Lee
  11. Welcome to the forum Phil. The Derbyshire hills will keep your traction battery topped up 😉
  12. Hey Matt, welcome to the forum. To accommodate the engine lift, does the prop shaft have solid UJ's at either end? Many road cars use a rubber 'donut' rather than UJ's and if these are run out of alignment then the donut can break up.
  13. Richard @rich1068, from what I've seen a 4x4 and BIG tyres are more suitable to the roads around Sheffield 🤣 ...and many other places to be honest. Although I did find some nice smooth tarmac oop north across the border recently, I tend to notice smooth roads more these days as they're so unusual. Our village was very bad but they resurfaced the lot last year and it's fabulous now. Until they dig it up again!
  14. Oh dear, sorry that you'll be without your beloved GS for a little while longer. At least they called you to keep you updated.
  15. Hi Jeff @noby76, yes fingers crossed it's been a decent steed and although it hasn't been without issue it's been reasonable considering it's age. The cabin heater (matrix and/or servos) is my next job but I'm waiting for the weather to improve before tackling that (hopefully fewer clips will break!). The small boot can be a pain sometimes but is absolutely fine for us 95% of the time. On vacation trips with 4 folks we've used the back box which provides plenty of additional luggage space. The boot rack makes the GS REALLY long which can be entertaining 😄 I also have a roof rack but rarely use it. Our second car is a Golf but that only gets used at the wkend and ONLY IF we need the bigger boot space e.g. runs to the tip or Ikea ! I really like the Hybrid system and after a few years ownership I consider that both power units work well together. The assistance from each units means that one isn't particularly stressed, so both seem to get light duty use. The 3 modes provide a wide range of performance options (normal, sport, power) depending on your journey or mood ! Battery powered propulsion is comically short but is a great challenge to engage/maintain. It's ideally suited to coasting through villages (esp. in Belgium) and in heavy traffic that slows but keeps moving. As soon as you stop then you really have to milk the battery power and be patient...but where's the fun in that. The seamless surge of power from the clever CVT is great and makes a long journey effortless. Folks moaning about the elastic band effect should take the time to play around with the modes. The dealers 'suggestions' to change dampers is comical as mine are still running fine 3 years later! It must be a great money earner for them, along with sticky calipers, warped rotors, etc. Selling up, me? Not atm thanks although I'd bag myself a GS-F pretty darn quick if I had the means. I appreciate the offer tho so here some 😍 back at ya. How long have you had your GS300? How's that been for you with your cavernous boot? Cheers, Lee
  16. Just back from a long weekend to Dumfries & Galloway and our GS clocked up 685 miles / 1102 km's on varied roads without any bother. We visited pals near Glasgow yesterday and covered 342 miles / 550 km's during the course of the day and neither of us felt any adverse affects. A good job too, as on our return I had to faff with mrs F's V-dub that had a flat tyre 😒 How many miles have you clocked in day ? I'll start with my longest daily drive that thankfully was shared with a pal over to Morzine at around 700 miles / 1,120 km's. Oh my, those French roads were dull. I think our most memorable trip that I tiller'd solo was an over night'r in a hire car from Inverness dodging a snow storm that had closed the airport, covering some 510 miles / 820 km's on some really nasty/slippery roads.
  17. Have you used the booster pack to successfully crank over the v8 before? Do you have brake fluid in the reservoir? How does the brake pedal feel, can you pump up it up? It's not a hybrid so I presume it has a traditional vacuum powered brake servo with a hose that picks up from the manifold (looking a online pic's). Is the hose connected, split?
  18. Hey Thomas, good luck with the RX. I'm kinda surprised that you haven't had a test drive in it tho, or maybe your other half did that for you ?
  19. Ouch, that blade really cut deep if you damaged your tendon...nasty. Get well soon.
  20. Well done [emoji122] Did you manage to source a replacement in the right colour?
  21. Hi John @Britprius, I was sorry to read about your damage but at least you have a decent loaner albeit not up to GS spec. The Holts kit is okay and comes with all that you need. I used the drill to sand one headlight and elbow grease on the other and I preferred manual as it gives you more control. It takes a few minutes sanding yourself but I found the drill was too aggressive and then needed more sanding/polishing to correct. To save yourself more cleanup work ensure that you cover everything (engine bay/wings) as the polish goes absolutely everywhere! I haven't tried the sealer yet so can't report on that or how long it lasts. You're right that the discolouring is mainly on top of the lights but when I stood back as compared one polished vs untouched I was surprised how much better the lower/beam area looked. Let us know how you get on as it's an easy job to tackle from a stool 😉
