  1. So what magical car are you replacing it with that doesn't lose the majority of it's value in the first 2 years, especially in a financial crisis like we're in at the moment? not all cars loose there value as much as a prestige vehicle, i bought a 57 plate fiesta in august 08 the same dealer is now selling the identical car for £500 more than i paid. and who said i was going to replace it with any magical new car, i have been a lexus owner for 8 years and after my deisel experience need i say more? quick look on the internet and i found a 56 plate at £9300 from a dealer so looks like the bottom has fallen out of the lexus values, im so glad i bought it on a pcp.
  2. got a 220d 56 plate 220d on a 3 year pcp, i am going to terminate early as i have reached the 50% mark, after speaking to lexus financial they suggested trying to sell the car rather than handing it back as i may make a bit of cash that way,i needed to raise 12k as this is the balance owing anything over that amount i could keep. so i went into my local lexus centre and got offered 9.5K for a two year old 220d 28,000 miles and fsh. this is my last lexus
  3. why would he want to accivate the tracker, is it so he can find out which forecourt its on and go and buy it back? i dont think they will accivate it as it sends out a signal and it will be picked up by the police, if he wants to but it it may be worth having a word with the finance company or the agent they send to collect the car, i did this years ago and he told me which auction he was dropping it off at
  4. with the pcp agreement it states that once you have reached the point where you have paid half of the finance agreement you can hand the car back with nothing further to pay, it doesnt affect your credit rating, if you havnt paid half even a month early then you break the agreement and are liable to pay the full amount, i suggest you make the final months payment and then terminate i did it years ago they just sent a recovery lorry. the driver said he was dropping it off at the auctions
  5. this is exactly what i have done with my 220 i put down a 3k deposit and pay £300 a month i can hand it back now and walk away the outstanding finance is more than the car value. but beware if you do it more than twice with the same finance company you will get refused finance from them next time

  7. just seen on the Vosa website under vehicle recalls, that the 250/220d had recalls over air bags not going off, any body had a recall for this? you can check the vin numbers to see if your affected, you have to select toyota then the 250/220 appear
  8. they turn off the feature all together, so if you catch the button the windows stay shut
  9. just found this article on coffee been used as a replacement for deisel, good news for me and other 220D owners Many people find that coffee is a good source of fuel in the morning, but now that could literally become the case - as bio-diesel sourced from coffee beans could soon run our cars. And, some will be most pleased to note, the fuel maintains that pleasant coffee aroma. Researchers at the University of Nevada have found that ground coffee is 10-15 percent oil, which is easily extractable and turned into bio-diesel. What's more, it could be offered for as little as 60p per US gallon - that's around 16p per litre! Coffee is in abundant enough supply to provide hundreds of millions of gallons of fuel every year, and the oil can be extracted from leftover grounds - so we shouldn't find ourselves missing out on our morning coffee for the sake of fuel. And the find was stumbled across by accident, according to chief researcher Mano Misra, who said: "I had left my coffee out one night, and the next morning, I noticed that there was a kind of oil around the edge of the cup." Misra then collected used ground coffee from Starbucks and found extracting the oil was easy. There are over 7.2 million tonnes of coffee produced worldwide each year from which to extract fuel and it's also more stable than traditional bio-fuel because of coffee's high antioxidant content. A larger scale pilot scheme is now underway to see how viable coffee could be as a genuine fuel source.
  10. all 4 do open i believe, but the the front go down about 2" before the back ones start to open, so if yours are only 1" open the backs wont have started, first time it happened i took it into the dealers and had a go only to go red faced when they showed me that it was a feature of the car, its for summer use so you can drop all the windows as you walk to the car too cool it down.
  11. same with me paid half so can hand it back which im going to, the only problem that you possibly could have so im told is that if you do it more than once or twice with the same dealer or finance company you are likely to get refused finance from them again. but its your legal right that you can hand it back with nothing further to pay
  12. yep i also have done it, soaked the car through inside as it was raining and it was left all night with all the windows down, even now i sometimes still do it as its easy to catch the button when you walk away
  13. you get to a point when you think i just cant be arsed anymore, which is a shame because lexus are loseing out on a repeat sale
  14. sorry mate no exactly how you are feeling, i have a 07 plate fiesta cost £5600 which has less rattles than my 220D
  15. well im glad too see its not only me that has issues with the tyres, my first set of bridgestone potenzas lasted 18k i was asked if i go drifting as they hadnt seen them wear that quick, last week after 10k i had the second set on the rears replaced as they were well below legal limits again bridgestones. i had a cheap set £80 each fitted as im getting rid within the next few months. sorry not glad you got same problem but you no what i mean
  16. again go for the fiesta, i bought the wife a mk6 07 plate one in august as she is learning to drive, to be honest its surprised me we even use it at weekends instead of the lex, and it has less rattles than my 220d. we got ours from the car people and paid £5700, 07 fiesta style climate and they are holding there values pretty good as the demand for small cars is increasing
