  1. If you look up the 'Gold Members - Dealers Discounts' on this website, it should indicate how much your dealer is prepared to offer a 'paid up member'. It's certainly worth my while, my dealer discounted their service plan by 15% for me! https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/club-discounts/
  2. Hi Rajat, Depending on your traffic conditions/hills and the amount of starting and stopping in your city traffic, 29mpg is not a bad figure for your car. You'll probably find your hybrid battery will get a clean bill of health!
  3. Tony, you are allowed to feel smug 😄
  4. I'm not sure whether your discomfort is with the fact that your choice of car is also popular with car thieves, or that car thieves steal car models that are popular with those whom would buy the cars from them? Thieves only ever steal property that others want to own. (There are currently few reports of stolen Austin Allegros)
  5. Personally I'd use methylated spirit on a rag, or isopropanol (also on a cloth) just to wipe over any mucky areas and then use the Step 2
  6. Whenever I've had to disconnect the 12v battery, I've ensured that I connect an alternative 12v supply to the + and - cables, and thus avoid losing some of the cabin settings. In the past, I've used a friend's 12v battery, but I then bought a noco Genius, which plugs into the OBD connector, and provides power to the ECU that way. (or simply connect it in the boot space to the + and - cables BEFORE you remove them from your vehicle battery. 7. I guess this may depend on the definition of 'a slight scuff', and the paint, too, of course. I'm aware that the cost of a professional repair/repaint is often greater than we would wish it.
  8. It would solve a load of effort if the 'search' facility was uprated to 'user-friendly'!
  9. What a great post, Nigel. And thank you for the detail! Well-done, too. My RX (same year, almost identical mileage - isn't achieving that mpg, though I suspect that the first mile from home is always uphill doesn't help! (and I tend to drive it on Sport mode too!) Like you, I consciously let the car carry the speed, and not the right foot, and aim to never come to a stop at traffic lights, but a rolling approach is always better for mpg. (currently 34.5) I've convinced myself that E5 produces a better mpg than E10 by between 4 & 5%, and so use that whenever I can find it at a similar cost premium to E10.
  10. Great post Herbie - - and, of course, the local police will know who owns it and can contact the owner
  11. Our RX is the same iteration as yours (2014), during the winter we average 32 mpg in town (uphill cold starts) and 34/5 on long runs, in summer we're now getting 34 in town, and 36 on long runs. I have to mention that I do drive with a light right foot -
  12. My recent quotation from Scorpion for both a X Series CAN BUS Immobiliser(£449) and S5 Thatcham Approved 24/7 Monitored tracker, fitted at my home, and with a lifetime's monitoring on the tracker, (after the Lexus O C £250 discount) came to just short of £1,250
  13. Thanks for that write-up Glyn - - I found it most interesting. I'm still looking at options for an immobiliser / tracking system for my car. That's good info, squire.
  14. My recent quotation from Scorpion for both a X Series CAN BUS Immobiliser(£449) and S5 Thatcham Approved 24/7 Monitored tracker, fitted at my home, and with a lifetime's monitoring on the tracker, (after the Lexus O C £250 discount) came to just short of £1,250
  15. It's a darn good job that 'loving God' isn't a conspiracy theory... . . Oh........hmm
  16. It's not 'fatwa', but sounds similar
  17. Phil, The element of ageing that I really appreciate is that I've an increasing number of things to look back on, and more time to do it!
  18. Yup, my father would be incensed, for his belief that 'personal privacy was paramount'. However, the world has changed enormously since the creation of computers and the internet, just as your mobile 'phone provider can track your conversations and your location (and has that history on file too), credit card companies, your bank, PayPal (et Al), your local Council, DVLA, your GP, NHS, HMRC and the Police (for some!) all have instantly recoverable records of all of us. IF data extraction results in fairer processes, decisions and quotes, and those customers whom, what shall I call it, "cheat the system", are rejected, caught out or disadvantaged. I'm all for that.
  19. It's probably been left by a Squab that's been orphaned, and now suffering post-parental shock. The old saying explains: "Every good turd, deserves a mother"
  20. If you look at LexusPartsDirect website, you can get these for (just) under £200 https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/?s=48231-48581&post_type=product&dgwt_wcas=1 but I'm sure that many of our members use spares sites in the USA & Japan and save money doing so, (including extortionate shipping costs
  21. Pat, Welcome to the Forum.... I suggest you should 'have a word' with the Principle of the dealership you used today.
