  1. CONGRATS Your insurance should benefit
  2. Which religion are we talking about? I always thought that youngsters were baptised as soon as possible.
  3. I cannot see the point of buying a prestige car such as a Lexus and then removing all the emblems concerning the make of car.
  4. I am away in France on holiday and cannot make 21st Sept. I am disappointed at missing this meet. However hope to make Reading meet 11th Oct.
  5. Still relevent to Lexus is the garage and a few weeks ago I had a new metal up and over door fitted with windows . This gives extra light inside the garage. The guage of the metal was so thin that when my daughter opened it from the inside and put her hand on one of the panels she caused a dent. After a couple more minor dents I contacted the installer and also the door makers. I had paid out £800 and was not satisfied. I am now having the door replaced free of charge and at extra cost paying for a glass fibre door which is far superior. I am amazed that according to the firms involved no one has ever complained. My daughter does not drive the Lexus!
  6. Does it keep the same registration number FMN 63V if someone from the mainland bought it?
  7. Just after getting my car I nudged someones rear bumper when , in heavy rain at 10mph, the wheels locked. I got a mobile body repairer out and he did a first class job on my bumper. The damage was only paint damage and the job cost £60. I did attempt to do it myself and it looked pretty awful. This chap was recommended by the Lexus garage who stated that if they had the car their policy is always to take the bumper off and respray it entirely which is costly. The mobile chap in South Hampshire stated that he has a number of Lexus cars on his books as the owners are always first to contact him when a slight problem occurs. I know the 'sick feeling' but I would say that at a cost of£150 you will be feeling better!
  8. I found that this happened during hot weather when the rubber seals become a bit sticky. I sprayed WD40 also on the levers and the boot opened ok.
  9. Its something you work on by attending meets. If you see an immaculate red Is200 with new alloys then Bazza is around. If you see Mrs Mop cleaning the windscreen of a blue Is 200 then Fidgets is in the vicinity. A baby behind the wheel of a parked blue Is200 then Claire is within ear shot. I say, get in there and mingle.
  10. The acting det. insp was driving around in an Is200 SE earlier on this year and as part of the story. I have not seen it recently in the story line.
  11. If 'women and song' were added I may even consider hotting up the ' unmodified Lexus ' to get there quicker!
  12. You are 100% right Bazza. Free food and I am there!
  13. I have no objection in sharing the club with you youngsters!Cars like the Lexus 200 Is were not around in my younger days.
  14. I am at the older end of the membership but what attracts me to the Lexus 200 is that it is a car for people with a bit of get up and go spirit. It is this spirit which keeps older owners young in outlook and I would certainly say that the club is not ageist.
  15. If its hot having the the air conditioning full on will effect the mpg. When I am in town in stop start motoring I get about 25mpg but when out on the open road say a 140 mile trip down to Devon I get 34mpg.
  16. Hi Bazza Nice wheels, sorry I missed JAE as I had to attend a wedding. Is this the car which got some award?
  17. I think that the crunch is the written and / or verbal contract you had with the seller. You bought the car in good faith that the spare wheel needed pumping up not replacing. If the seller had said,' The spare wheel is flat and has no tread' your immediate response would have been to negotiate the purchase around this matter. The seller should have replaced it free or altered the price of the sale. The Lexus spares fit so tightly in the boot that it is necessary to take them out to check the tread. Any responsible garage would have done this prior to the car being sold and handed over. I solicitor would certainly charge more than the cost of a new tyre and if I was you I would sound out the local Trading Standards to get their view. They may have had other reports concerning this garage and may be a position to put pressure on the proprietor to appease you.
  18. Hi and well done Mrs Mop I recognise you from Bracknell when, in between the showers you were out there with your chamois. My wife unfortunately will not drive anything larger than a Nissan Micra. I think if I ever saw her cleaning the Lexus I would collapse in shock!
  19. Hi Loz I was out on the roads around Southampton and Winchester today, Thursday, and looked for a smoke trail but obviously missed you. I was out working doing my 2 days a week and driving the office car, a new Vauxhall diesel estate, WOW. Made me appreciate driving the Lexus on my way home.
  20. I have used Halfords at Hedge End, Southampton and have had my previous cars serviced at Hedge End before they moved nearer to the centre of Southampton. I have found them to be first class and their degree of interest and knowledge in the serviced vehicle leaves the local Toyota/ Lexus dealer standing. I think that with all garages its the people who run them where the success or failure stands.
  21. Thats bad Zee and I cannot find an explanation as to the reason the police behaviour and lack of professionalism has gone down hill. As I stated in another message it may well be due to lack of good management and many are not street wise. The senior officers attend senior command courses and think of a new gimic to pursue. They then issue their instructions and stay in their offices which results in a lack of suitable supervision to the men on the ground. It makes me mad when I hear of decent folk with Lexus cars being continually harassed for no valid reason.
  22. Did'nt like the programme last night. I prefer it when they test cars we can all afford.
  23. Interesting to see that one new member in his second message is advising how the Lexus web site should be run. There is room for open and healthy discussion on a variety of topics which hit the news. My main concern is that they get a fair trial. The big question is where can this be attained?
  24. Before becoming a chartered planner I spent 25 years in the police and I am suspicious of their ' modus operandi' nowadays as with many forces there appears to be a lack of professional etiquette. I will stick up for them when they play by all the rules which initially is to preserve law and order and protect the public.
  25. I hope to go to a local village show tomorrow near Bishops Waltham ( Hants) in which the local constab put in an appearance. I will try to find out re the mystique behind stopping modified cars. I was under the impression that their terms of reference was only to ascertain that a veh was covered by insurance that is third party upwards. However in this changing climate I would not be surprised if the police acted outside their remit. There are a lot of senior officers around who lack street experience and some who have never visited a council estate before joining.
