  1. Has any one else thought of the huge amounts currently being paid by Lexus to carry large daily advertising spreads in our national newspapers. No wonder the prices remain high when so many millions go into advertising. Is it really necessary to saturate to the degree which Lexus are currently carrying out? Surely the cars sell themselves without the overkill?
  2. As usual I come along at the end of the drift. The day before the Toyota visit I went to Chatsworth House and as well as enjoying the ancient pageantry I could'nt help noticing a 20 yr old statuesque Swedish Blonde who would put the American entry in the shade. As stated before, cars are like women , beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
  3. I missed it last week. Had to double check my registration number then found the joke. Very Good !!!
  4. Sorry to read this saga. The police will not be interested as the 5 year old is below the age of criminal responsibility. This therefore a civil matter. However, you say that the child has a key. This would probably have been the key to the parents' car. Being 5 years old the parents must exercise due care and control and are responsible for the child's welfare. It is therefore necessary to prove where the parents were when the damage occurred. Could they have excercised any control in preventing the damage? As she had a key, a metal object capable of inflicting damage, it is apparent that one of the parents has been negligent and not been properly responsible. I would threaten civil proceedings in the County Court should the parents not settle the bill. You will have to obtain a full run down of the repair costs which would be submitted as an exhibit. Also it is necessary to take photos of the damage and car park and also draw a plan of the car park showing the position of your car and also where the parents were standing when the damage occurred. Strong evidence would be that they were nearby and as stated failed to excercise due control over their youngster who was in possession of their key. Your case must be built around the failure of the parents in letting the damage occur. A good point in your favour is that she had a key which obviously had been given to her by one of the parents. Did they take the key from her and start up the car? Finally record on paper all the conversations you have had with the parents which would indicate that their attitude has been obstructive. The CCTV video could also be produced as an exhibit and I would sound out the manager on the likelyhood that it could be produced by a store member ( you may have to pay costs which,if the case is proven can be claimed back)
  5. Immaculate, keep it well polished.
  6. I always check the mileage by looking at the old MOT's if they are with the service history.
  7. Great metallic colour, looks and is a quality car. makes the Toyota Avensis look cheap.
  8. I keep on trying to get a picture of my Lexus but have not been successful only the red picture. I have therefore gone back to the birdie but its not my real choice.
  9. Thanks for the names to the photo. I too regret not being able to make the drink after the visit. I had to visit a relative with my wife at Etwall nearby. The relative has been receiving treatment for cancer and under these circumstances I felt I had to go. I think you guys will understand.
  10. I bought a Nikon Coolpix 4300 4 Million pixels last Christmas . I studied the mags and saw my friendly Photographic dealer. It is user friendly and downloads quite easily via a digital formatter. I have taken some great photos this year.
  11. I still have problems with the who is who in the Lexus owners club although I can just about identify the leading characters. Is there some way we can put names to web ID's ?
  12. In Winchester if you straddle over into the next parking bay you will get a ticket. You can only buy 1 ticket per car so if you bought 2 tickets and parked in the middle. within half an hour you will be ticketed for illegal parking.
  13. Coming up to the Peak District with my wife on Wed and will be going to Chatsworth House and Repton ( Connection with CB Fry, famous cricketer, athlete and footballer living in Southampton area around 1900). My wife will see a relative when I visit Toyota. Looking forward to the visit.
  14. I like the club because it has no bias one way or the other. It is a way to relax and enjoy items of interest concerning its primary objective which is a love of good cars like Lexus. If occasionally one is side tracked on matters of jollity so what? It is apparent that the originator of the critique is the one who lacks humour!
  15. Hi Richard Welcome to the club. I shall watch your servicing with interest as I think that what the main dealers charge is a big rip off!
  16. As a senior member I have been doing some research. When you get to 65 your tax allowance increases by £2000. If you work and earn over £8000 then the allowance decreases by £1 for every £2 earned. If you have another pension then you pay tax on your state pension. Its tax everywhere , that is pay, pensions, vat, excise licences and indirect taxation in ' speeding offences' This ( speeding fines) is another subject already thrashed .
  17. I use sheets put over another piece of carpet. Did this when I had a Celica and had no problems. To Bazza's query, they do in Hampshire recycle concrete at Household Recycling Centres. You are allowed 2 loads a day. I live in between 2 centres so I use both. Four visits with my roofing felt saved £80 which a skip would have cost. I must add that I am very careful and the boot is well protected with each item carefully placed.
  18. Thanks chaps and Claire, This is the second group of birthday greetings. Doing well this year. Went out with Pauline, my wife, son and daughter. Had a good steak meal and a pint in a local pub/restaurant. Could'nt hear myself speak and had to request that the music be turned down. ( which they did) Maybe I am getting old! Don't answer that. A good solution or answer is,'You are getting old when you begin to lose the thrill of driving a Lexus'. I have'nt.
  19. Thanks chaps, As 1.4% of the membership I am at the end where I have stopped putting candles on the cake, takes too long! Will be going out locally for a good steak and a pint.
  20. Man telephones the police station reporting his building ladders missing. He was told,'We will take steps to recover them.'
  21. Police Officer 'Is this car licensed sir ?' Motorist 'Yes officer, would you care for a gin and tonic?'
  22. A motor patrol stopped the driver of a Lexus for speeding. The constable went to the driver unbuttoning his tunic on the way and extracting his pocket book. 'Right , sir, I am reporting you for speeding, can I have your name please?' Motorist,'Certainly, officer its Aloysious Cholmondley Monpelier Crichton.' Constable'(replacing the pocket book into his tunic pocket) 'Just, don't let it happen again'.
  23. Just taken 30sq mtrs of old roofing felt ( took 4 visits) down to the tip, always going with a boot full of green waste. The ski flap comes in useful for diy. No problems , next job is taking old paving/ concrete down to the recycling centre. Always careful not to overload and I watch the weight.
