  1. The humax HD is a nice bit of kit - great EPG. If you have a dish already and don't want to pay Sky it's a pretty good option - although for now you'll have less worthwhile channels than freeview but I would think that'll change soon.
  2. Hold up, wait a minute. I have a freesat HD box but you should be aware that even though you might get more channels than freeview (although I'm not sure about that) you will be missing some key ones that freeview does have. e.g. right now there is no 5 (although that's coming this month), no dave, no 5 US, no Fiver, and a whole heap of other channels missing. Something to do with the difference between "free to air" and "free to view". Just because a channel is free doesn't mean it's available on Freesat. Have a look here for a list of channels currently available and although it looks a lot it's mostly regional or rubbish. It doesn't bother me since I tend to watch shows Dl'ed on a HTPC (which is why the sky subscription made no sense) but if you like some of the freeview channels like Dave then you'll be losing them. HD is nice - but so far it's only really BBC cos ITV do b-all. Wimbledon was great in HD and F1 will be awesome next year but you need to weigh up the pros and cons. If you do go for it my advise is to go for a Humax box - (the HDR if you can afford and are prepared to wait.) hope that helps
  3. Gosh they really are cheap now :( Dunno which is best for you - but I did see on there a 2003 with 89,000 but with sat nav, styling kit and alloys on there for £5495 which is owned by a goldie on here (had it's geo set by the Dr.) I always think it's a good idea to buy second from someone who was in an owner's club - Owner club members tend to care for their cars plus you can check their posts and see the history of the car online. I wonder whose it is?
  4. Sorry if this is a stupid question but where do I get the bolt from if the hole is a different size behind the bumper ? Sounds like an easy job as long as I can get hold of the appropriate fittings. I'd love to give you a technical answer to this with the exact length and width of bolt you need but TBH all I did was nip down homebase and buy a bag of nuts and bolts that looked right with some washers. As long as the washers are wide enough and the bolt is tight enough it'll be fine. :) AFAIK the hole you want to use behind the bumper is not threaded so you'd have to use a bolt + washers anyway.
  5. Chipsaway is a franchise (and a not very heavily regulated franchise at that.) You're not really dealing with a company but with an individual therefore you can get very different results from different franchises. When done well - the chipsaway technique can be very effective - but when done badly... well - you'll regret it. Here's a very informative post from a Chipsaway guy on pistonheads that gives you some hints on how to tell if your local Chips guy is a good'un or a wrong'un.
  6. I did this on my old 200 - very very easy job. Unscrew the nut/bolt that holds the horns in place. Down the same central bar you'll find another hole behind the bumper - fix the horns in place there with a nut and bolt and a couple of washers (same bolt that was used before doesn't fit in the new hole AFAIR). No need to take bumper off.
  7. RAM is cheap as chips right now. Go for 2 x 1gb. It's ALWAYS worth getting RAM from a known named brand though - I prefer OCZ, but Corsair, Geil and G.Skill are good brands too. If you're running a 32bit OS then it's impossible for it to use more than 4gb (which includes the vid ram) - so anything more than 3gb is wasted.
  8. My older grom ipod adapter is working great with an ERR3 unit. It pretends to be a CD changer in the boot so it's not replacing the main CD unit (shows up on headunit as "CD1" not "CD") However - I'd be surprised if they've fixed the compatibility issues to be honest - it sounds like the difference with this unit and the older one is at the input end rather than the output - I'd imagine the way of interfacing/communicating with the headunit is the same as the old ipod grom unit. So if the old one didn't work this new one might not either. Either way check with them in writing (email) that this unit will support your specific HU number - at least that way if it doesn't you can get no-quibble refund.
  9. Maidenhead - I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. Look out for me with a granite sky (grey) 300 with chicane rims, TTE rear and TRD front and sides and a L-Tuned grille. :) Re: the V12 stickers - should be easy to pop 'em off (same with the debadging) - heat them up with a hairdryer to soften the glue, run some dental floss under the badge to remove them, then rub hard with WD40 or Autoglym tar remover to get rid of the residual gunk.
  10. Another Berkshire IS300 on chicanes. Nice. Whereabouts are you? I'm with the others on the bonnet vents - get some black mesh on there, but maybe look to get an aftermarket bonnet in the long term? And get rid of the V12 badges stat! That's wrong on both counts.
  11. My old "51" S - was all manual. However, it had all black cloth rather than the patterned ones. They actually looked pretty good. And Steve: they're exactly the same seats as SE just minus leather/electrics so they're just as comfy.
  12. They may not know about geography but they at least know a thing or two about Olympic sports. Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load! Q:"what is a shuttlecock?" A:"A disease" Oh dear.
  13. (Minor swearing warning) Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!
  14. Please let this go through! Either way - i can't see them getting away with this - it hits too many people with a tax they didn't know about when they bought the vehicle. High taxes on new cars? Fine - we can weigh that up when we make our buying decision, but massive tax hike ambush? I'll be taking to the streets poll-tax style.
  15. I fitted 4 and now my engine actually manufactures fuel - I still have to pull into the service station now and again to drain the fuel but at least I get paid for it. I'm thinking of buying a job lot and setting up a state to rival Dubai.
  16. Here's a thread on my.is with some corkers to get you started Wozza is a very busy man & I want to help.
  17. Apple fanatics are like scientologists - logic won't work on them. So may I suggest:-
  18. See above post. Mate - take it to wim - it's worth the journey. They have the best kit and most importantly you can trust Tony et al. to fix the problem (or if they can't - not to fob you off with excuses to make you go away)
  19. many thanks for Tony and everyone who organised this. Sorry I had to go early but my hands were full with little'un.
  20. Was just standing outside my office on Hammersmith roundabout and caught a glimpse of this beast passing on the roundabout. Orange flip paint with black stripes going up the bonnet and round the body, big drop, widebody kit and LED tails. Didn't see much as it wizzed past (didn't see rims or front or zaust) but I saw enough to see that this was no barryboy job but proper show car material and quite possibly the best I've seen in this country (both in the flesh and in pics) If the owner reads this please post some pics. If not someone else must have seen/knows this car - can you give some info? thanks
  21. Welcome to LOC (cool username btw) You should get three keys (two masters with 3 buttons and one valet with 2 buttons) - but as long as you have one master it's pretty easy to get a blank from ebay then get it cut at a locksmiths and then reprogram it using instructions on this site but if you have one master and then lose it - you're in big trouble. Other than that you should get the manual and the service log book (stamped). Beyond that nothing. Bear in mind that company cars are not usually treated with the same respect as self-owned pride and joy's so check the bodywork very carefully for signs of damage or repairs (overspray or colours not quite matching on panels.) hth
  22. TTE Front bumper TTE rear TRD side skirts. nice combo.
