  1. Actually now I think about it - I had this problem early on in normal mode. But the problem for me was that I had used ephpod not itunes to create a playlist and this confused the grom. I plugged it back into itunes and deleted the ephpod playlists and everythuing was ok again. Do you use itunes with your pod or something else?
  2. mine does this too but only when selecting playlists 6-9 via the headunit.
  3. Welcome and congratulations. However:- ;)
  4. man, that is one ooooooold graphics card. I'm fairly sure it only supports DirectX8 (Vista is DX10). That's bound to be the problem - Aero is quite a system hog for what it does.
  5. I've just had the exact same problem - caliper seized up completely after wobbling badly for a while. Had new caliper fitted, new front discs and pads at Lexus dealer - came to £550. You'd expect a non-Lexus garage to be cheaper - so if they're hitting you for more - I'd go to a dealer.
  6. Good story. Sorry to be a party-pooper though - it's not true.
  7. Get yourself over here. The best guides/info on detailing I know of. (And you can order kit from the main site: yes there are shipping charges but as long as you order a few bits'n'bobs what with the current exchange rate and prices in the states it works out ok.)
  8. That's pretty nasty but I think i can beat it. My first car was a Talbot Samba oh yes. After that: VW Polo, Honda Civic, Golf, IS200, IS300.
  9. Pretty well actually - good fit and no rattles. Key housing has a slight recess where the buttons are so unlikely to trigger them by mistake. Only thing to be careful is that when you take it apart the spring that causes the flick is wound with the casing securing it so you have to re-do that and re-wind it. No photo 'fraid but take my word for it :)
  10. Looks like a nokia handsfree kit to me (non bluetooth probably) but worth keeping there in case it is or if you do get a nokia bluetooth kit cos the wiring/connections are the same.
  11. Really sorry to hear that mate. TBH you did the right thing - remember you're allright. That's the important thing. If you'd had visions of Rambo and jumped out of the car it could've ended alot worse. Even trained martial artists can get hammered when they're out-numbered. Now all you've got is some dents in your car. Look into some smart repairs to get those sorted and put it out of your mind. The ways things are today this kind of stuff can happen to anyone at any time. Not your fault.
  12. Lol - I thought it was Texan bar too - I thought I'd consult the google oracle for the definitive answer and found a chocolate forum discussing the very same thing... Choc forum a modern mystery obviously.
  13. Wierd - I can answer my own post - it just turned up in the post an hour or so after posting this. Initial impressions are: it's huuuuuge! Much much bigger than IS250 fob. Also the key blank is US size - i.e. longer than UK - not a real problem but it means the key won't go in flush into the ignition. Built quality seems ok - key flicks out with a fairly solid feel. The gold inset around the bit that you'd put a key chain on is a bit placcy-tacky. Back side of the unit has no insignia just two screws for opening the unit. I'll get it cut and see how it feels to live with. But it is very big.
  14. There's another option to fixing it (reapairing it does cost quite a bit and there's no guarantee it won't go again.) Mine went and instead of replacing it I fitted the ipod adapter that Sonnet found - it connects into the back of the stereo and plays from the ipod directly (so sound quality is excellent) and allows you to control the ipod via the stereo controls (volume, next previous track, playlist select, shuffle etc.) Link to info on the adapter Link to walkthrough on how to install it. It's what I did and I certainly haven't missed not having CD's since. HTH
  15. erm.... Has anyone who ordered one of these got it yet?? I ordered one 10days ago and still nothing.....
  16. Welcome to LOC, Matt. That's one very clean LS.
  17. I'm out of warranty so it'll be out of my pocket. I'll wait to hear the damage tomorrow - I predict pain :winky: ... but I was so impressed with the service up there that I got them to do my 50k service whilst it's there which was about due as well.
  18. So I was on my way from London to a meeting in Derby. Towards the end of my bit on the M1 I have to do some heavy braking. The car veers wildly left and then judders all round. If there'd been anyone in the inside lane when it happened it could have been nasty. Turns out my driver's side front caliper had seized. Car no longer safe to drive (well it drives well but just doesn't stop so good ;) ) and I'm stranded in Derby. A quick phone call to Lexus Derby and even though they're booked up they take pity and agree to see what they can do. Turns out caliper needs replacing so an emergency part order is placed and I'm given a 250 + MM to get me home so I can return tomorrow lunch to pick her up. Really impressed with the friendliness - no wonder this dealership has got 5 stars in all criteria from all users in Dealer Review sections. ... and to top it all I got a goldie discount I've had some dubious service from a few dealers recently but this was exaclty what I hoped (and used to expect) Lexus service to be like. So a big thank you to Darrel and all the others there who were so helpful.
  19. Cheers for all the advice :) But it's all in the past for me now. Insurance paid out nicely and got myself a lovely IS300 which I'm slowly getting how I want. Someone else bought my old repaired Cat C IS200 and seems to be giving it a good home. So it's happiness all round.
  20. I'm after a new set of rims. I can't afford the "real-deal" Advan/Rays etc I'd like but browsing the US sites they have a huuuge selection of pretty decent looking replicas at silly prices and with the exchange rate the way it is I figure it might be worth investigating.... Has anyone on here had experience of shipping wheels over from the US? If so what were the shipping costs/import duties? Which shipping companies would you recommend?? thanks in advance for any help. BTW if anyone has links to some good wheel stockists in the UK then please let me know.
  21. Personally I wouldn't get the replacement battery from dealer the stock batteries are a bit weedy. The Halfords Calcium batteries are significantly better. I think the Halfords code for IS300 Calcium battery is HCB005 battery size is 6DA, but I could be wrong - check in store. And yes - it's extremely easy to fit yourself.
