  1. Don't fancy this car, or that, I will keep my lovely Lexy.........but my head has been turned by the new smaller 2015 Telsa Model X.....0-60 in 5 seconds, great range and........GULL WING DOORS.......ooooooooooooohhh. ?
  2. Welcome Redruthray, The error 3 as you have found is a common, and often terminal problem, your budgie....is probably a 'not uncommon' symptom on the 200/300 and there is info on here, recently, on the suspension section, have a good read. Have you any info on cambelt changes..again have a look via search on here on age/mileage recommendations. Another good check is excessive tyre wear on the inner side...it's all on here. Just bear in mind that error3, front budgies, inner tyre wear, cambelt precautions......are all normal on the 200/300, there are only a few such items on these cars My 200/300's have never failed an MOT in ten years, she causes me no significant problems, and would have no hesitation in jumping in and driving 1000 miles right now (apart from the fact I've just got my jim-jams on !).
  3. Geometry, agree....contact Tony at Wheels in Motion as suggested. Mine was the same until I drove down the M1 for treatment!
  4. Well done, and welcome to the 'paint your own wheels yearly' sub section of the wheels and tyres sub section (now 2 members!)
  5. OK IMO what you want to do is find yourself an e-type, a bucket of suds and a sponge, proceed to wash it. Start at the front headlight, and take the sponge all the way along the curves to the rear lights.... V12 is best for this unforgettable experience!
  6. Welcome! The days have gone when I got whistled at with the windows down! Suggest you go onto the IS200 section, and then the 'Brakes and Suspension' sub-section, on there not far down you will see a 'wheel squeal' thread, and others working back. Hope that's useful!!
  7. Hi Tom, and welcome! I tried and failed to find a towbar for my sportcross, there were odd ones around, but on investigation they would have fitted a 300 but not a sportcross. Hope you are luckier than me....I wanted to tow a project caravan, but with any great lugging I think I would have needed an an oil cooler too. You could try the US maybe, but even so getting and fitting (plus electrics) may well be prohibitive cost Good luck!
  8. Now now young man, enough of that....and don't even think of shaking anything at me!
  9. Hi Leon, welcome, nice colour! lots of info on here!!
  10. Hi Martin, welcome!!... the other matter.....not a clue!
  11. You may never recover.....we did the same and came back with an IS200, then we went to get something else a few years later, and came back with a 300 sportcross........that was about 7 years ago and she's still on the drive. There is talk about an old landie for some agricultural fun, but would probably end up buying an LS400 or something instead if we tried it, so the sportcross is safe at the moment and not for sale!!! Looking around for a car for daughter recently, (cant afford IS insurance) and peeked into all sorts of cars (VW/Mazda/Audi and stuff) and I was bored stupid just sitting behind the wheel !! If Lexus stopped producing new cars that just follow the styling trend of all the others, and go back to class timeless design, I would be in the market even for a new one.
  12. Event tyres, Cheap, professional and pay after fitting.
  13. I bought private plates, cheapest 6 character one I could buy. The reason is/was that I want the car I want, I can afford a much newer car, but in my business age of car is stupidly equated by some to success and status. The plates have hidden the age of my car, cheap and effective, simple as that
  14. Have a search on the 'my IS' united states site, this is a known problem over there and a number of fixes have been tried including the 'on the ramps' !!
  15. One of my favourite colours....I also like my blue, the green, and that orangey colour
  16. I just bought an ebay one, about £1.50 delivered from Exeter Toyota actually. My mat no longer rides up under the pedals, just made a hole in the rubber backing to put the hook through (cheapo mats!!)....if you ain't got one..... get one....for safety's sake!
  17. My ankle biter has just got a new 5 series diesel, I was terminally bored about 20 seconds after I got into it!
  18. You have checked the battery with a multimeter to see if there is untoward current drain whilst standing I assume? I once had big problems, and it was the boot light on all the time!
  19. Welcome and enjoy, It's a friendly forum and pretty well all you need to know is here...just ask!
  20. IS200/300 really need specialist geometry. Many of use use special settings (non Lexus) by 'Wheels in Motion' there is much info on this on the forum, suggest you look for 'geometry' 'wheels in motion' for info.
  21. Blimey, I assume the suspension/powertrain mods would be significant, I understand (not tested) that the simple throttle mod on the 300 that is popular in the US, makes it very difficult to put the power down with the standard 300 engine!
  22. Iv'e also got a Honda (sorry!) and they no likey on the forum too.......the only car progs actually about cars seem to lurk in the 'channels below', about mainly classics, presented by old rally drivers like Penny Mallory and Tony Mason....at least they are proper enthusiasts, not ego junkies. (Janet now removes bum from high horse, and goes for some cereals for brekkie)
  23. Well, yet again big thanks guys, I'm sorted.......had a look at the birmlex ebay site as suggested....chatted with Lex in Derby and they will match the price, I will be poppin' in tomorrow to collect....not pagid or mintex either...typical!
  24. Marmite is too superior and fantastic to be compared in any way to Top Gear. It would be nice to have a decent motoring /car show on TV again, without mega ego's getting in the way.
