  1. Nice "cut and paste" and your personal opinion is? The whole legality of cameras has been questioned for years, accept the fact that speeders have been knicked from the days of coppers hiding behind trees with stop watches, though radar dishes on the side of the road to radar "guns" and now cameras all over the place. Remember when the white stripes appeared on the road in front of cameras, after the "where is the corroborative evidence" shout went up. In short this is a big juggernaut with a few minor leaks that WILL ALL get plugged as she ploughs on. If you speed accept the the fact gracefully when you get caught. Would you want a mass murderer to get off on a technicality like the copper didn't caution the arrested correctly? Minor points off law. By the way, I hate speed cameras and the safety argument in a lot of cases is totally invalid but they are a fact of life and we have to live with it.

    Hi Loc

Hi and welcome to LOC, can't help on the Nav as I don't have it in the Tezza!
  3. Classic symptom of worn piston rings/bores, oil gets sucked up the bores on the overrun and then burns off when you accelerate. Worn valve guides/stem seals are usually a puff of smoke when you first start up.
  4. You can pick up a copy of XP Pro SP2 on e-bay for about £40, if you have never done a Widows install before I would not really recommend trying it for the first time by the method talked about on here. You do need a bit of knowledge on computers to set the whole thing up. You will also find that most of the peripherals on the netbook won't work after you install XP so you need to download all the drivers, if you only have 1 PC do that first. Perhaps I am misjudging your experience, if I am then I apologise. Also if you only have 3G internet the security updates after install will kill your connection :-(
  5. He paid £229 for it and I would say that it seems OK, build quality is good as I would expect from Acer. Screen res was a bit pants with XP till we got the proper driver installed and that sorted that out. He tried a rally game on it and it was a bit slow but it was running off a USB flash drive so may be better if he moved it onto the internal drive. Will see how he gets on and get back. If you want it for work I am sure that Office apps will be just fine and it is really compact and is 10/10 for looks IMHO.
  6. Well end result was that he bought one from Comet as our local Asda had run out, came with 1GB of RAM. I installed XP Pro SP2 on it yesterday using the USB_MultiBoot_10 utility to make a bootable flashdrive with XP on it, worked with no problems. Only slight issue is when you boot up now you get an option screen to run XP or repair from the USB, not major and I am sure that I read somewhere how to get rid of that. Anyway had the usual problems with drivers not working but they are all available on the Acer website to download (Drivers Here), once I got the wireless one installed it went like a dream. He went back off home with a brief on installing all the drivers and up-dating windows etc. Heard nothing since so assume all is going OK. @ reganlives - how did you get on with the MS Office install?
  7. Quotes from the Denso Iridium site: So you can't really measure the gap anyway because of the U-Groove And they don't recommend adjusting the gap anyway. Anyway up to you :D
  8. Most new plugs come pre gapped now so you don't have to set them. You should not attempt to gap Iridium plugs as you can break the electrode.
  9. Hi and welcome to LOC :D
  10. Hi and welcome to LOC :D
  11. Never picked one up the wrong way but caught one when it fell off the bench - I can confirm it hurts
  12. Wouldn't expand too much on that subject Aido On a serious note, if it is good may be worth a thread on it's own mate.
  13. Ok mate what gadgets can you get for an Aristo in Asda then?
  14. Thanks all. Looks like the Acer is the one to go for then especially at that price.
  15. Agree with Tommy. Think there was some confusion in the translation of the original intervals from the JDM manual where it was 100,000Km/6 years this became 100K miles or 6 years in the UK manual! AFAIK the official interval from Lexus is now 60k miles/6 years 62K miles being about 100K Km. Either way it is due as 6 years are up.
  16. Found this Install XP From USB Flash Drive could be a bit handy :D
  17. As the title my son wants to buy a Netbook and has saved around £200. He is used to Windows XP and wants to use that as an OS if possible. Will be used for school homework so office apps are basically essential. So he/me are looking for advice and some recommendations on the best buy within the budget he has. TIA Neil
  18. Thanks for that Stevie, I found the main fuse OK and it is fine. The problem is the relay coil not being energised for some reason not with the fuse. Now I know where that relay is I will need to get the kick panel off and have a good nosey around.
