I just had a simple Carlton 1.8 saloon as my bank manager's car back in the '80s . brilliant family saloon, travelled over some of Europe in her with the kids and she finally died, after i gave her away to another car mechanic guy when I'd covered just over 200k miles in her . brilliant car for sure Bank Managers in those days just had simple cars . doubt they have cars anymore as a perk, indeed, are there any bank managers left anywhere ........... ??? btw I did some 60 miles on bank business in that car in the 60,000 miles i did in those first 3 years before I was made redundant and kept the car as part pay-off She was a joy to drive for sure ✌️ Malc sorry i digress from the Allard issue . value maybe £2k as a " fun " car . the bottom end value for a cheapy Ls400 of that age still on the road with lots of upcoming probably expensive issues to sort for MOTs etc Malc

Hi Gary and welcome to the LOC. Blimey I’ve seen this car appear and disappear many times over the years, apparently only 2 or 3 were built with one being totalled. I assume having gone into limp mode the Engine Management Light is illuminated? Paperclip diagnostics on this one. Price wise no idea, pretty sure I’ve seen it sold for £2-3k in the past, if you search the forum you should find previous related posts. Here you go, happy reading https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/search/?&q=Allard&quick=1&item=143381&search_and_or=and&sortby=relevancy

Hi, Hope you people can help. Do any of you guys know about the Lexus/Allard concept? I know that only 3 were made, and that one of them was destroyed in a accident. I own one of them and was just wondering if anyone knows where her sister car is. Many thanks

Hi Rustix, does your mate's car still exist? It looks to be one of 2 surviving examples, if it's still around. Would be cool to keep and restore https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-1st-and-2nd-gen-1990-2000/909846-allard-p4-ls400-2.html#post11173198

Sad to see some of the old Bristols awaiting restoration that link takes you to. I am reminded that Britain produced some very special cars in their day years ago, perhaps beyond the reach of the average motorist. Allard, Alvis, Lagonda and better Sunbeams and Daimlers being some of the others as well as RR and Bentley of course. We might build more cars nowadays but these are almost all assembled for other owners with Morgan being a quirky small scale exception - not sure who owns Aston Martin now, another premium car struggling I believe. We know that with these premium marques you are paying for better coachwork, comfort exclusivity and performance these sort of cars offered in their day. Even the cheapest modern car today is generally going to be more reliable and cheaper to maintain with as much performance as is needed under normal conditions on our overcrowded roads. I knew I guy once who had a number of exotic Italian cars which I am sure will have appreciated but he told me his Ford Escort was the most reliable and best used while the others were just for play.

Come on Mike, as you pointed it out, get your wallet out and buy the LS400 with the orange wheels. Then you can buy this one and put the orange wheels on this!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Allard-Lexus-LS400-Prototype-restored-by-Allard-Motor-Sport-/201233400178?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2eda720172
