Lexus Model

  1. Hello, New in this forum. I am from Malaga - Spain. I bought my Lexus in November, its my second one. Before my IS300H i had the Lexus IS200d Fsport, this new model is much better in all aspects in my opinion. I have to say that y love this brand, they are one of the most confortable cars i have ever driven. And its incredible the design they have.
  2. Hi I'm on the search for a full set of isf wheels, good condition genuine ones with tyres preferred but would consider other options. Thanks Dan
  3. Hi Lads.. New here, interested in buying my first Lexus, but looking mainly at used car options as I dont really like the idea of spending £25000+ on a car at this point of time (early thirties).. I'm looking at the IS300h 2.5 F-Sport model and found one for £14.000 but has 95.000miles on it.. What do you think? Would it be a good purchase to buy one to take me the next 5-6 years? Thanks for your replies:)
  4. Thanks to you guys I am going well on the views - still a great car, so worth a re post. My early efforts seem, raw but cute :) Hope you like - share it if you think it needs more love
  5. Hi I read this article in a recent edition of Car Mechanics and found it very interesting. So interesting and relevant that I asked if I could have a copy to share with the forum. Thanks to Car Mechanics, here it is, with their kind permission. Also here is a link to their website: http://www.carmechanicsmag.co.uk/ (I have no association with Car Mechanics or publishing house etc.) Enjoy. Spare Parts.compressed.pdf
  6. Hello Some of you may know me from Lexus related Facebook groups and to the rest - hi will introduce my currently owned GS450h. Bought it 100% stock in January Just like my previous Lexuses - i wanted a little bit more of sportier and lower ride so i got these Right after i put them on car looked like this Some time later i have put spacers on the back Not long after i also have put another pair of 15mm spacers on to the front aswell Right after i came back from my 3 week holiday abroad i was welcomed by this. So i have done this... Traction battery out, bad cell replaced, copper connectors cleaned. She was back on the road again. Even managed to make some low budget clip with Go Pro cameras :) Not long after i have decided to change my wheels. Got 19" 9.5j ET27 allround At the moment she looks like this Little comparison vs my ex GS430 :) A few pics from the last weekend That's it for now. I have got some updates planned and will post them as soon as i have them done ;)
  7. Hi al, I have a 2010 GS450h Se-L Sep reg. what are the standard kits that comes with se-L and What are all the optional extras. This morning I was trying to use the headlamp washers but it doesnt seem to work. There is a button in the hidden box but nothing happens if i press it. Is it optional ? or is it just not working. Thanks H
  8. Hi all, Just want to know - what are the differences between the 2006 IS250 SE-L and 2007 IS250 SE-L? Are there any differences at all? Am I right in assuming some changes such as auto dipping wing mirror on reverse etc was added on the 07+ models?
  9. Hi all, I used to post on here many moons ago when i owned my beloved IS200. Had a change of car back in 2008 and since then I've always been longing to get back into the Lexus fold and now i'm finally ready. Wish i had never got rid of the IS200, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Due to a house move, a baby and generally growing up I'm on a limited budget, but i'm on the lookout for an earlier IS250 SE-L Auto, ideally with MM, but not a deal breaker. I have up to £7k max, but there are a few that are well under that on Auto Trader at the moment. I do about 10-12k miles per annum and had considered a IS220, but from what i can gather they seem more trouble than they are worth, so happy to stick to petrol. Are there any particular problem areas i should look out for when viewing the petrol variants? I'm assuming that, like the IS200, a well looked after higher mileage (80k plus) shouldn't be discounted? The ones i have seen are circa 2006/7 with 60-70k on the clock but towards the higher end of my budget. Anyway, i thought i'd re-introduce myself after a few years away from the forum and welcome any comments. Cheers
  10. Hi, I am thinking to change my alloys and was wondering what is the largest size alloy you could put on the car without changing the suspension. Any help would be appreciated also if anyones got any photos of alloys they have had on their car. Thank you,
  11. Hi Everybody! Last week I've finally sold my previous car (2013 BMW 528xi) and became happy owner of brand new 2016 Lexus GS300h (EU version). I'd like to compare both cars from my perspective, as 5 series is still alive in my memory and producer's lineup. First of all i have to mention, how excellent reviews of 5 series there are and how mostly bad reviews of GS i have seen across internet. Reality is "slightly" different. Both cars i purchased have the same pricing - 54000,-€ but very different equipment. BMW i owned was very basic. There are only two things my GS is missing - AWD and High performance. Performance and top speed of 250km/h is something i can't legally use, so it's not issue. Xdrive was great, but had almost no snow past 3 winters. So not a problem. In GS i got much more comfort and safety features which i missed in BMW: 1, Metallic paint 2, Leather 3, Sat navigation 4, not Mark Levinson, but much better audio system 5, LED headlights, much better than BMW xenons, automatic high beam 6, Full power front seats 7, Driver's memory seat 8, front seats heated and cooled 9, Huge screen 10, Auto folding mirrors 11, Dimming inside mirror 12, Keyless entry 13, power trunk 14, Lane Keeping Assist 15, Adaptive Cruise Control 16, Pre collision system 17, Rear Cross Traffic Alert 18, DVD player 19, DAB tuner 20, power steering column 21, reverse camera 22, Traffic Signs recognition It is clear Lexus gives much more for the same money. In the showroom among neon colored cars, the GS was little disregarded. Parked on street it makes heads turning, especially gentlemen. Getting in Lexus is much different than getting in new bimmers. Nothing cracks, squeaks... You just feel that fine touch and nice flavor of smooth leather. I had no leather in 5 series, but i have Dakota leather in 1 series, which looks like leatherette beside Lexus leather. Seating position was good in 5 series, but is better in Lexus. Steering wheel was better in BMW, this one is great in size and shape, but could be softer. The biggest critics I've read were all about infotainment. I have to say, it is different than BMW but really not bad. It IS intuitive and equally easy to use. Plus here is much bigger screen. Remote touch Joystick is nice and accurate. Another usual critics are about drivetrain. 1, Engine is smooth and quiet, much smoother and quieter than petrol BMW 4 cylinder. I can ride windows down without any rattling sounds coming from outside even when before engine warms up. 2, Engine is powerful enough. Despite I don't fell any force, car accelerates very nice and smooth, almost noiseless. 3, CVT is very different than standard Auto. For cruising it is great. For racing maybe not. But GS is cruiser, not racer 3, Fuel economy is great. 528ix took 8,1-8,2 l/100km GS300h takes 5,5-5,7 l/100km. It is about 29 US/34 UK MPG vs 42 US/50 UK MPG And finally, everybody who tried both of my cars, likes GS much more than my previous car.
  12. Picked her up last weekend from Southampton after trading in my 2007 335i M-Sport. She is a 2008 with 50k on the clock (Full Lexus Service History). I absolutely love her. She is called Lichelle :-) Apologies for poor photo quality. She's a little dirty as well as I picked her up in minging weather.
  13. Good day, Someone might find my story informational - this is not a post to complain or anything. Maybe just to demonstrate how servicing costs can suddenly sky-rocket... Though it left me curious if I was taken for a ride? The guys at Lexus Edgware were so far nice and helpful - no complaints there. My RX400h just passed 100k on the odometer so I decided it needed to get serviced properly at an official Lexus shop. The official because timing belt needed changing as well - and I was thinking the official garage is the trustworthy place for this type of job. It also coincided with my MOT expiring - so booked for that one as well. Took it to Lexus Edgware (Jemca), since Twickenham (Currie Motors) do not provide the cheaper servicing option. Initial quote: £40 - MOT £399 - major service for 5+ year old cars (the value service as they call it) £395 - timing belt change = £734 Left it with them. Few hours later they emailed me a link to a vehicle-vision.com where they had a video uploaded (I have attached it here as well) demonstrating and explaining the discovered faults - with a quote and a button to approve the quote. The manager also called immediately to go over and explain everything etc. Quite a nice touch the online video and quote - did not expect that. The issues were: Rear driver side shock absorber leaking Both shock absorber gaiters (rubbers protecting them, part no. 48760-48040) torn/split. Initial quote: £1250+ for parts and labor. This is the part of the story that got me confused. During the call I looked up on lexus.co.uk the price for 5+ year old vehicles to replace "Rear Shock Absorbers" - it is £395. So I did suggest that we replace both - the manager did agree and it was (for some reason!) a cheaper option than replacing just one (???). New quote to do both shocks and gaiters: £915.42 (in addition to the £734) => ~£1650 Later, the car does not pass MOT and I get another call. The reason: one of rear brake calipers is stuck and did not pass the brake efficiency test. To replace it is £350 (single caliper) To try and loosen it: ~£165 (cost for an hours labor since everything needs removing to try that - according to the manager) I decide that replacing it might be a better option in case it will stick again. New total: £2099 The car is still with Lexus Edgware, going to pick it up tomorrow. After all these repairs it must be golden now! Any second opinions? I can't help just wondering how much less it could have cost at a local garage - especially given that car does have a patchy official servicing history with some gaps. Maybe was not worth going the "official" way. I also had already been putting aside some savings for this 100k service as I did expect a lot of expense - but twice less than that :) Lexus_vv-video-92717_(1).mp4
  14. Hello, I have been trying to find out online the annual road tax on for LS400 but not found anything other than people saying with LPG it drops a tenner. How much is the road tax on first gen LS400? Thanks

  17. Hi, I'm looking for more cool mods I can do to my new IS300h, done quite a few but would really like some Angel Eyes. Does anyone know if you can get Angel Eyes for the IS300h? If so where from because I've looked all over the place. Cheers Dave
  18. Hi guys, Bought myself an '02 Lexus IS200 a few weeks a go and though i'd start up a build thread of my progress with it. I'd planned to set up a thread for my old Mazda 3 but never got round to it, so here goes. Here's the car the day I picked it up. I couldn't believe the condition of the thing when I first saw it in person, 1 owner from new and only 44,000 miles on the clock.. not bad for a 14 year old car! Ive read a lot about the reliability of these cars, infact it seems that the only negatives this car carries is its poor fuel economy (ironic considering the first photo I take of the car is during a fill up) and the tendency for the stock stereo to break and swallow CDs (again, ironic as during the journey home, this happened to me..) Ah well, nothing a touchscreen head unit swap won't solve later down the line. The car is completely bone stock currently, I made sure to wait until an example came up that was completely unmolested and in the best condition possible. I think the only thing different on mine is the chrome mesh grill underneath the number plate, which I can only assume was a replacement for the normal black one. Anyways, on to the fun stuff! I actually bought these wheels a good few months before buying the IS, they're 5x114.3 18x8.5 ET35 Schmidt Space Lines. I'd have a look around for some Jap style wheels for a while, but after seeing a lot of IS builds with euro wheel setups I was tempted to do the same. Having them sat in my garage for ages not doing anything was bothering me, so a week or so before collecting the Lexus I decided to give them a proper clean. I used auto gym wheel cleaner for the whole wheel (apart from the chrome lip) and they came out looking quite good. The only downside with the wheels is admittedly they could do with a refurb, but I probably won't be prioritising that anytime soon. So now with the car home, it was time for a makeshift test fit. Pretty happy with how they suit the car. Thats about where I'm up to at the minute, plenty planned for March/April including buying some tyres (still unsure whether to go for 205/40s or 215/40s), some BC Racing coilovers and a rear arch roll. Ive also bought a TRD rear valance which will have to get sprayed and fitted at some point, but I want the wheels and coilovers on before I think about that. In terms of future plans after March/April i'll mainly be focusing on aesthetics, however we'll see where it goes.. I'll make sure to post again in the next month or so when more develops with the Lex anyway, thanks for reading :)
  19. Hi all, After many years with Mercedes, I am slowly losing faith in the brand and services. I'm now looking to change and was considering BMW, Jaguar, Audi & Lexus. Bit by bit, I discounted the others and it looks like i'll be venturing into the Toyota flock. I currently have a E220 cdi, and looking for something similar, or maybe a bit better. I think that means LS & GS. At present, I don't think I'm considering hybrids, as I don't know anything about them - yet. I notice that lots of Lexuses / lexxi ? run on petrol. Is there a reason for this,,,, or is it just the first ones that i'v seen ? I'm in West Cornwall, so my nearest dealer is Plymouth. Now comes a silly question; what are the pro's & con's that a new buyer needs to consider ? Please feel free to offer any advice to this new comer. cheers all
  20. MY HV battery on my GS450h is poor. I intend to pull it out and check each cell for corrosion, and trickle charge/replace where necessary. When i disconnect the HV battery, will the petrol engine still run as normal, and will all my electrics work? IE, do some electrics require the use of the HV battery? thanks
