  2. I notice this post is a few months old, so maybe my response now isn't of any use, but just in case here it is.... I have an Ohme charger and am on the Intelligent Octopus tariff. When I first used it last summer I was also concerned about the cap being removed, however I was assured that as the charging was controlled by Octopus I was guaranteed to never pay more than off peak rates. The cap is best left off to allow Octopus more flexibility to make use of surplus energy. This has proved to be the case. In the early days there were several occasions where I plugged the car in during the day and found the car charging, however I was only ever charged the off peak rate. Nowadays it tends to delay charging until 23:30 which is fine. It all works well for me.

  8. I am afraid not dear boy. But Harrods and Selfridges are having a price war over them. Buy two, get a scullery maid free was the best offer I have seen so far. That's the deal I went for. The urchins sub for each other when one falls ill with cholera or whatever and the maid cleans up after them and cooks their meager meals. All works out wonderfully for ME! I don't have to see them, hear them (except for the ready call, of course) and they are self sufficient, as the scullery girl has such delicate light fingers, she can half inch a whole roast chicken off a rotisserie in broad daylight without anyone seeing a thing.
  9. Today
  10. All this really is BS. Such a poor show from such a supposedly prestigious brand. In my opinion they really have dented their reputation with behaving just like all the others. Lexus used to be a cut above, shame really.
  11. Unfortunately the GEN-1 NX does not have that feature. However, I got round it in a very simple fashion. I took under my employ a small Victorian urchin. I send him out barefoot in the snow to warm the car for me. Once the car is toasty warm he gives me a cheery (or is it tearful) cry of "it's all ready for ya Guv'nor". I feed him sparingly as to minimise running costs. The added value is he doubles up as a damn fine chimney sweep, and fetches me a fresh loaf of Hovis bread from the bakery each morning across the cobbled streets of my northern town on his trusty, rusty bicycle.
  12. I carry a small electric tire inflator, so if I get a warning of low tyre pressure I can hopefully reinflate it. This should increase the chances of being able to get the run flat tyre repaired rather than having to replace it.
  13. I found that RRG ( Red Rubber Grease) works very well on the slide pins to prevent seizing. It’s very thick so only needs a thin smear and doesn’t break down.
  14. Tried silicon spray but no joy 😞 I could see with the naked eye that one of the sensors' plastic ring around it (believe this is the fascia of the rubbed seal) had slightly been nicked a little, so it could be that. But strangely if I leave the car in the garage for 2+ days - when I come to start her up...all works fine .....for 5 mins max! I'm expecting Lexus to wriggle out of the warranty so at least I've got the Camry sensors to fall back on. I believe it would be c£200 fitted when I discussed it with the parts department (before I realised I'm in warranty). I suppose it's worth it to not have to spend half an hour on my back to get the bumper off, but we'll see. If anyone ever wants to try and DIY, let me know and I'll send a few photies of how-to. - there's a couple of blind bolts at the back of the wheel arch that are an absolute PITA. Also one of the wiring connectors needs herculean strength to prize it from it's housing.
  15. Went to the local dealership this afternoon for some other business. And while I was there I asked for clarification. I have been told that the 360 Camera system operates till a maximum speed of 20 km/h or 12.5 miles/h So I keep my own dashcam.
  16. Hi Did you fix the rear air con and heated seats that wasn't working?
  17. Had similar experience but just sprayed WD40 on the sensors as this Refracts moisture and not had any more problems ( Touch Wood ) Hope that helps.. Worth a try !!!
  18. My turn now 😞 Bought two sensors from China (didn't bother doing a part check....whoops. Stripped the bumper down before I realised it was the wrong part 😶 Round two... Found the right part (c£150 from Lexus) so thought, sod that for a game of bananas, I'll find it elsewhere. Found the part from China (same exact part as is on a Camry so could've probably gone OEM from Toyota) for c£30 for two. ....Then I realised I'm actually in warranty - booked in at Lexus on Friday Wish me luck !
  19. Couldn't beleive that this song has had 1.3 Billion - Yes BILLION views. Don't recall any other song quite reaching one billion.
  20. I’m not sure, Bernard, that we have all been too naive to understand what the Chinese have been doing these past few years. What we and our governments have lacked and continue to lack is the ability to organize an effective and united competitive response. To believe otherwise would be to accept, wrongly, that the Chinese are individually as well as collectively cleverer and more astute than we are.
  21. There is one listed in the accessories section of the RX brochure so will be available from a Lexus dealer, but don't expect it will be cheap.
  22. Gadget - in terms of the update, when did you get your car and does it have a HUD ? I escalated my numerous issues to the MD of Lexus UK and even then nobody could explain why you have an option to turn off the a/c when selecting Auto but it doesn’t do anything. I was really irritated that to de-mist the windows I would see the range plummet. I tried selecting the windscreen defrost button, which turns on Auto and then turn Auto off - didn’t do anything. I wouldn’t rely on this myself, but I was told that the update didn’t necessarily increase the range when the a/c or heating was on - it just displays a less pessimistic range. I can’t believe that is the case as they have withdrawn the update as it trashes the HUD (meaning a total removal of the dash etc) which can’t be the case if it all it did was tweak the displayed range. John on here has seen his consumption improve dramatically since the update. In my case, driving on mainly high speed runs my Total Average is 3.3 miles / kw with the heating / aircon as per a petrol car - it was about 2.7 miles / kw before. I complained about the fact that it took ages for any real heat to come on in winter but then found out all EV’s suffer with this as they don’t have an engine to draw it from ! I always pre-heat the car at home but not when out and about.
  23. And what we do manufacture, and buy from, the businesses are possibly owned by Chinese / India / Saudi - Middle East conglomerates too ……. I don’t know this, I haven’t checked BUT I’ve been reading that Abu Dhabi is being prevented from owning the Telegraph group but I do know that State owns much else of UK corporates and significant businesses …. ExCel centre for instance Indeed Qatar or Kuwait is it, owns Harrods I’ll strike that off my place to do my weekly shop for sure 😅 You'll be telling me next that Fortnum&Masons isn’t independent …… oh where can I go to lunch these days 🤔 and The Ritz ……. Probably owned by the banks maybe ! But to live on the beauty of British soil brings much joy and pleasure Malc
  24. I don't think we are naive so much as poor decision makers too often. For example, we can perceive the monetary benefit of buying product X from China for less money than it's Western alternative, but we cannot or do not take the process steps further to account for the costs to the West in losing productive jobs. You see the benefit is personal and tangible to a greater degree than the social costs via taxation to support people who have either lost jobs ,or been diverted in lower paying jobs. The latter is harder to identify and indeed less personal.
