  2. I used a cloth to clean the Touch Screen (Infotainment Screen) and it appears to have marked the glass. Only visible in bright sunlight when not switched on, but still very annoying. I have tried glass cleaner to remove the marks but that makes no difference. Use the same cloth on this iPad and no marks at all. So, is the screen easily marked? Never had a problem with previous cars (Honda and VW) and more importantly, can anyone suggest what I can do to restore it to an unmarked condition?
  3. DRLs are mandatory on all new cars from 2012ish. Maybe they only come on when the car is out of Park? There will be a setting in the system to enable headlights coming on unlocking. On my RX one has to push the headlamp stalk forward immediately after switching the car off for them to come for 20sec, a see you home function..
  4. Hi, do you know if the rz Takumi has daytime running lights? Had my car a few weeks and the lights don't come on during the daytime so not sure if it has daytime lights or not. Also when I lock/unlock the car should the headlights come on automatically? Again this does not happen so not sure if it's something I need to change it the setting? My last car was the Peugeot e2008 and when you lock the car the headlights come on for a set amount of time which I really liked and thought the lexus would of had this Many thanks

  6. I'm not impressed by any Lexus employee that doesn't know their product well enough to give confident, accurate advice on such matters. I bought a car in the States and the Sales Team had racks of VHS tapes (yes it was a while ago!) that they used for training every day. They knew their vehicles inside out. I've not driven on the continent so I'll leave others to give a definitive answer. I agree that changing to km/hr will likely be useful in keeping to the speed limits but it's not going to affect the lights. More likely that the car will know where it is from its onboard GPS and make appropriate changes.
  7. I agree that the app is a very long way from being as useful as it could be but, accepting it's limitations, I still find it useful. Checking the range on electric is my most frequent reason for going to the app (I have a 450h+), closely followed by the trip data (I admit to being a bit OCD on this and record every journey). Both functions are reliable and reasonably accurate. I also use the app in winter for pre-heating the cabin. The other functions just sit there in the background and I rarely access them. I really wish I could plan my journey on my phone and find it ready to go when I get in the car but I wouldn't condemn the whole app just because I'm only using a few functions. Can you elaborate Ron on what's not working for you?
  8. I was wrong about 40mpg being impossible. 44mpg achieved on a 14 mile trip on good rural A roads, straight from a refuel using Shell V-Power. Undulations were favourable but even after return leg a few hours later, it was still on 40mpg. Pleased with that for a close to 30 mile journey!
  9. Ok. Things we've learnt today: 1) the bumper includes the sonar unit - meaning 3 points of electrical systems need unplugging 2) if you want to completely remove the bumper expect to get wet (windscreen washer connection - don't know why that hadn't occurred to me. 3) the mounting points on the center sensors are easy to remove (luckily it was one of these that were faulty. - ones on the outside I couldn't fathom how to remove so I could at least clean them up 4) even if you buy a part off eBay - triple check it's the right part before you waste a couple of hours of a Saturday 😞 - needless to say it didn't work so I've sent a strongly worded message to the eBay seller 5) be careful with underside clips on the corner points - they come off very easily
  10. best bit about slime is not to put slime in to stop a leak but to put it in as a prevention way ahead. It sets inside and coating the tyre like a gel. Adventure or normal motorcyclists use it for that reason. Also some alloys wheels have slow leaks, this prevents slow leaks.
  11. Hi Stephen, It was about £1,100 if I remember correctly including the wiring and fitment.
  12. Had the car for about a year and never had any problems with the cluster until about three months ago, The tach and mpg guage failed and it showed an oil warning light as well as a warning light for the rear lights, after a couple days it resolved it's self and hadn't reared it's head again until now, it's done the same thing again, it's been raining the last few days pretty heavily and prior to yesterday it hadn't been driven for a week. any help or suggestions would be great 🙂 2001 IS200 Sport (UK)
  13. Hi Xez You mentioned previously that Lexus dealer fitted a towbar for you. Do you mind me asking how much it cost all in? Thanks Stephen
  14. Hi and welcome to the group. I have driven in France using the AHB and found that the car automatically adjusted the beam to suit the traffic. I did ensure that the car ‘knew’ it was not in the UK by changing the speed settings to km/h (don’t think it matters to the headlights 😀)
  15. Plenty More Fish in the SEA....Just keep searching It Will Pay Off In The End..!!!!
  16. Hang on a jiff ... . the pastic headlamp cover with a little filler you'll likely find is perfectly OK going forwards and won't affect your MOT needs . this is the common touch for used car dealers to make everything fine without being silly with their money ! . the issue being to repel water and that repair will last another 10 years maybe ! The bumper issue ...... take the car to an independent MOT place and ask them for their view ......... both on the plastic headlamp lens repair as now is AND if the bumper is ok for the next MOT . if it is then maybe just a little filler and a can of spray paint but if it's not, then maybe a 2nd hand one from a breaker somewhere . Ebay maybe whatever ! Professional Painting parts is mega expensive these days ! It might be that getting a brand new bumper could be very difficult with parts availability still very challenging .. Suez Canal issues holding stuff up hugely .... No point throwing your money down the pan eh ! A little due diligence might save you mega £££££ Good luck Malc
  17. Its usually: Turn the key to the on position (do not switch the car on) only until the dash lights up, leave it like that for 6 mins, then switch it off, and start the car
  18. So this one just by the licence plate. The bumper section comes off to the left. I'm hoping that I can reach it without having to take the sonar cluster out (definitely inviting problems with calibration I'd have thought if I do that) Anyone tried it?
  19. Ok, so warranty out so on my back I go...! At least lexus could fault which one it was (and kindly gave me the part number if my AliExpress jobby falls apart). My OBD can only go into 3 modules whereas techsmart can diagnose everything on board. Trouble is they're saying it's the middle right sensor and I've no idea how to get to it yet. Should be fun finding out! More fun than giving them £300 for an hour's work though
  20. I'm new to this group and I'm sure this topic has already been covered so apologies if that's the case. I'm planning to take my NX350 on the continent later this year. I'm working on the assumption the headlights will NOT need adjusting as long as I keep the automatic main beam feature off. The Service Manager at my local Lexus dealership was not able to confirm if this was the case and suggested putting stickers on the headlights (as in days gone by) which I found hard to believe given all the tech built in to the Lexus. Any replies most welcome. Thanks
  21. Hi malc1. Yes it seems the days of fixing things without going full metal jacket are almost gone. I found a repair centre and had a long chat with this chap. He checked the damage and said if I used them he would try and get a used headlight but the bumper panel was cracked at a stress point and would need to be replaced. Yes were right the lens is plastic and only minor chips in 2 places, he even kindly sealed the gaps with silicone as a temporary repair so no water could get in. Its a weekend so I expect to get the estimate early next week, then i will decide whether to pay myself or go through the insurance. You know what insurance companies are like, they increase your premium even if you don't claim but inform them. I will keep you updated but expect a horrendous bill. Have a nice weekend
  22. Hi, Changed the battery and the " Check VSC" and TRC lights are lit. I have searched on here and elsewhere and found many posts saying "follow the reset procedure in your owners manual." I do not have a manual and cannot find out what this procedure is. Can someone tell me? Thanks!
  23. I managed to pick the car up 4 years ago for a bargain £450.00 although it had a couple of issues that took time to sort out but not a lot of money. It’s now done 169,000 mile but still runs like a dream but needs some money spending on it so I’d rather upgrade than spend on it. id get my money back by scrapping it but it’s too good for that, the ideal scenario would be to px it against a newer one.
  24. H3xme your car is a 350 right? How’s the fuel economy vs the 250? I want to get an import bad but it will be my daily and I don’t want to be murdered at the pumps haha. This is my 250
  25. Mine has the same issue from both the mirrors and the door handles. The paintwork otherwise is excellent.
