Is200 Se Door Mirror Smashed

Hi Everybody,

Well my IS 200 SE (2000/V reg) was just in a hit and run a couple of hours ago, the drivers mirror got smashed but apart from that, it works OK. Moves in/out, casing not even scratched.

My question is, what's the current price of getting a new mirror, not the entire thing just the glass, the actual mirror part? (And the best place to get one in the UK.)

I did a search on this forum and it was about £70 two years ago, I've read on how to replace it.

Thanks in anticipation.

John

Well today, went to my car and the drivers door mirror had completely gone, see photo link below. No glass or plastic on the ground, slight dent in the door though. So, any idea of where to get a replacement and cost?

Yes it was over night. I park out of the way as well. I asked at the local Lexus dealer and it is £280 inc VAT but not fitting. Thing is, it's about the same as my insurance excess. I looked on eBay for door mirror earlier but it came up with nothing, not sure if it's any cheaper getting those mirrors, could have used them last time.

That first mirror 'repair' cost £3.50 in the end, a glasier cut a mirror and glued it on. Would have to happen at Easter, everything closes for the holidays. I'll have a ring round for spares but that'll have to be next week now unless somebody knows of one available. I'm fed up.

if the cost is about the same as your excess iwould say it's not worth claiming, as for fitting it should'nt be to hard, but remember lexus dealers won't be the cheapest. good luck :)
