Is200 Headlight Question

Right,

I was bidding on, and won, a set of standard headlights on eBay a while back, and the seller advertised that they had one of the mounting clips broken, which isn't a huge issue, as mine have one broken too.

Basically, they arrived, and the only points that are actually able to be secured are the bolts that you access from the wheel arch, all the other mounting points are busted. Now, i have tried getting my money back, talking to the seller etc. but have had no luck whatsoever, and have basically been told by eBay that it's my issue, despite the problem i am now faced with.

I paid just over £100 notes for them, and the seller doesn't answer emails, phone calls, messages or anything, so i am well and truly stuck with them.

So, as i spent so much cash on them, i am wandering if i could use them as i had originally planned, just mount the eyelids on them, and put them on the car. I don't think they'll move, coz of the grille etc holding that area of the lights in place, but i can't be sure. Don't even know if it'll pass an MOT with them like that.

Before anyone says that i should get my money back from the seller etc etc, eBay DO NOT WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT, and have said that it's my problem, so let that be a warning to all you ebayers, their policy on problems is ******* and not worth the paper it's written on, it has a cluase in it somewhere that allows them to not do anything about it obviously! :megaangry:

Anyone advise me on the headlights then?

could you fabricate some mounts yourself using metal, screws, super strong glue etc?

if the whole light unit is free to move, it may fail the mot on the lights angle not being set correctly etc

Stu, whats wrong with your original light units?

As Brett said, see if you could fabricate something to help secure it better. I wouldn't imagine that it would be too difficult to do...may not look too pretty though but who cares cus you won't be able to see it. :P

Do you have the main bracket at the top (near the inner part of the headlamp) that uses a 10mm bolt? Thats the key one on top. I have had that one break on me before, but with a bit of super glue and insulating tape, it was ok. Try and get that one fabricated (like Brett says) and your should be cool.... :)

@ Fargo - eBay are not interested in the case at all, and the seller won't even reply to my messages, despite me leaving them the worst feedback possible. I asked them if there was anything else i could do, and they said, quite plainly and simply - No.

Basically, the only mounts left are the ones that bolt into the wheel arch area.

I do have a spare set of units that have been opened, so could probably nick some of the bracket points from there and glue them on, but i don't want it to look tacky (i like neat things!).

Might give that a try!

Cheers Fellas!

I almost bought those ones Stu, glad I didnt now though! (sorry for you though)

I did buy one and it arrived covered in mud and one of the tabs had come off. What a waste of £50.

from now on I think i'll be collecting things if I buy anything of good old eBay again!

I won't buy anything from eBay ever again after the way that they have treated my issue. They go on about how good their buyer protection programme and policies are, but in real life, they don't care.

Might give the square trade thing a try, but not sure if i'll get anywhere with it, as this guy has just ignored me completeley, so why would he respond to anyone else about it?

It was paypal, and it was about two and a half months ago now, and i used my debit card, not credit card to complete the transaction via paypal.

Stu

Okay a bit of a long shot, but if you paid by a Visa/Delta Debit card as apposed to a Switch/Solo/Maestro Debit card you'd have extra protection similar to that obtained when playing via Visa/Mastercard credit cards.

Hope that helps a little?

Get onto PayPal and just tell them you did not get what you had payed for and they will get the cash back for you, ie when he has cash go into his Paypal they will take it from him to pay you :whistling: or better still dont you have the Add of this guy could you not call on him  to get your cash back
