Going For A 'ruck' Tomorrow!

This is not like me at all....... normally i don't deal with the third party because they will be immediately hostile and on the defence.....

But nuffs a nuff....

I received a desperate email a few months ago from a owner of a new £40.000 4x4.... no names but it's a 'Toyota', anyway... it has had a constant pull to the left and dismal tyre wear on the NSF....

As the contact developed a full history including geometry reports (done by the dealer) became available..... curious positions were apparent but not alarming.

So as requested i inspected the 'new' vehicle........ well kick my cat! the NSF has suffered major trauma and has been recovered using the adjuster cams (same as the lady Lex) without the owners knowledge, the vehicle has massive chassis damage and the adjusters 'just' but not quite hide this in the handling area.......

Anyway i informed him of the evidence..... his wife started crying.. (£40.000) is quite an investment, and we then discussed what next.......?

The owner has been 'fobbed off' several times by the dealer..... no names but it's the one in Frogmore Radlett AL2 3JX , with explanations like 'it's a 4x4 if you drive it that's what they do?' and other amazing solutions like 'up your tyre pressure to 97psi front and 110psi rear'

Increasingly aggravated i have followed this customer and countered all the bull delivered by the dealer....indirectly....

Still with the image of his wife in tears i have been invited to attend an inspection of the vehicle tomorrow at the dealers... with the Toyota 'Tech' support UK on-site.....

Methinks I'm gonna bend someones 'beak' tomorrow...... and i am looking forward to it....

My only regret is that there is a need to protect people who have invested £ssss in to a dream only to have it 'stolen'

Given the chance...... What would you like me to say to Mr Tech!

To be continued:-

Make the "tech" sound stupid Tony, and like he doesn't know what he's doing. Overwhelm him with indisputable evidence, thats what i'd do :)

Solid advice....... immediate response is to deliver a punch right up the 'bugle' but this is not my argument and i need to remain calm........

I forecast this Nick...... i bet even the Toyota UK Tech won't have a clue?....

I can argue till the cat's on radar, if the engineer cannot understand the situation then it's a dead deal....

if its new...

there will be a record of any repair before it was sold.....somewhere, all Toyota/lexus cars are shipped into Portbury near Bristol

otherwise, i cant see why the tech, wont say.....well "they" have caused the damage after delivery...

Tony have you got the postcode right? It's one out I believe ;)

Good luck, just present your evidence systematically ..... and bow out when the guy doesn't understand. Are you sure the customer hasn't done the damage? If they haven't then at some stage in the discussion they should be using the words like "Trading Standards" and "Reject" but you know that already don't you.

Nice to see someone helping the little peeps

most dealers will fob you off cos all they know is how to sell cars

they don't understand how a car works so not interested in any probs, and if they are like Mat said they will just say the new owner done it and charge a packet

Good work Tony at least there's gonna be someone there that won't be smoothed over buy Bull :tsktsk:

:- UP-DATE -:

First i ride a motor bike......

I arrived an hour late with a face like a 'shag-doll' and a snow drift on my head. The dealer supplied 'plenty' of coffee and gave me half an hour to defrost.

So off we went into the workshop...we was introduced to the fitter and the Toyota Technical Engineer..... systematically we displayed all the relevant paper work/dates and mileage, anyway the fitter measured the geometry and it was all within spec.... Mr-tech said 'what more do you want'...? my answer was 'put' all the adjuster cams back to the original factory marks and measure it again......then we will see what area is bent!.......

With a  he said... you seem to have a 'smattering' of knowledge 'who are you?' i explained i'm Tony from wheels-inmotion and i am here to offer my customer technical support :shifty:

Well with a  on his face the manner changed somewhat and became more constructive..... it was agreed to move the geometry adjuster cams back to the factory marks...unfortunately one of the adjusters was seized solid..... This next bit surprised even me!

Without a grumble they will replace the wishbone, re-measure and set the geometry and supply a courtesy car free....

Already they have done two geometries and replaced the NSF tyre all free, and the vehicle will not be released until Mr-Tech witnesses the geometry adjustment next Tuesday.

Quite a result i feel considering non of the above are covered within the warranty

Personally now I've witnessed it i actually think the customer care has been exemplary, admittedly it shouldn't have come to this but they are dealing with the problem at their expense.

Good job Tony, but does this mean that they are retaining the vehicle till next tuesday?

I hope they supplied a courtesy car of equivalent or higher spec.

Yep... the relevant parts will take a day or so but the Technical Engineer is not available again until next Tuesday and he wants to personally supervise the geometry so my customer Mr x has the car until then :D ..... a Yaris :crybaby:

Fact is my presence did not force anything other than the truth, once the whole package was visible he said...... without the words? 'we have up ducked'

Like i said earlier i hold my hand out to their customer service and it's honourable that these non-warranty components are being replaced free, but.......... it's a shame it had to come to today to make it happen.

I wasn't going to mention this but (fancy a laugh) on me?

Remember I'm on a motor bike....125cc....L plates

This important meet was at 8.00am at Radlett..... about 10miles from me, so on Boxing Day i went on a test 'find' to ensure i wont be late... :winky:

Yesterday i set off in the snow on the bike 'Kin frozen'...... after about 5miles i realized i was on the wrong Dual carriageway :crybaby: ....'STOPED' looked for a cat to kick... turned the bike around and headed off 15miles.. 'THE OTHER WAY!!!!'

Now on the correct carriageway I'm well on my way..... fingers no longer move and i can't blink.... but nearly there :D

Then noticing a landmark i thought........ 'i think i should have taken that left turn?'.... during the thought process and the cold i found myself riding down the slip road for the M1..... :crybaby:

Knowing a 125cc on L plates is illegal on the Motorway i thought if Scarface sees me now I'm 'done'

What to do? i sat behind a lorry that offered generous amounts of snow at me from his roof and i left at the very next exit.....

More or less at the same point where i was the first time i got lost !

Another 15miles later.... snow drift on my head.... fingers not moving.... eyes stuck in a permanent open position and a foot missing i arrived.... an hour and a half 'late'

That image i said about the dealer giving 30min to 'defrost' is true as is this description..... on a nice note the cars owner 'escorted' me home.

And to add insult to 'frost bite' went i got in......... the cat was out :duh:
