Anyone Repainted Calipers A Different Colour?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Next time I touch-up my brake calipers I was thinking of doing them a different colour. They're painted with red hammerite smooth at the moment (with silver logos). I might go for silver with red or black logos.

Has anyone put a whole new coat of a different colour on their calipers? How did you prepare the surface before hand? Did you find the new colour chipped off to show the old colour?

preperation is the key - good prep and it will last ages, bad prep and dont even bother thinking about it - wire brush anything loose( a proper steel brush not a brass shoe brush), then get some wet and dry paper (medium and rub down the existing painted surface including any corners so it is smooth.

you now have to degrease the caliper and give it a good clean, I have used wash liquid with a stiff brush/ old toothbrush and that works.

rinse off and let dry

My car has just gone for a new set of discs and pads. When I get her back I'll be attempting the caliper colour change. I'll be going for gold or silver. Unsure at the moment haha.

:hehe:
