I don't have an iPod input (or any other AUX) on the Lexi stereo so I bought one of those radio transmitters.

Tuned it in and was instantly dissapointed with the sound quality. On the move it's rubbish and I won't bother trying to use it again. One for the bin.

I will investigate getting a hard wire input so I can listen to my music on the move.

:(

All joking apart, it may be due to the extensive sound proofing that Lexus seem to be renown for. That could be causing lack of signal quality to the aerial from the iTrip (or similar device).

Jamie

I agree Jamie. iTrip will work in the car if I leave the iPod in the boot, closer to the ariel, but not being able to access the iPod kinda defeats the object of having your iPod in the car.

i've got the belkin fm transmitter and seems to work quite well? i plug the ipod in and put it in the little box between the seats with no probs and can be plugged into the ciggy lighter socket to save on batteries which always seems to give better quality its not 100% quality but its not bad... :)

I will look out for one of those Tape converter thingies.

Yes, my LS400 has a tape deck! everyone laughed when they saw it. "is that a ....TAPE DECK!?!?!"

Otherwise it's a bigger deal to get the iPod to the stereo.

Built in Stereos are all well and good but they are a pain in the arse if you want to move with the times or upgrade.

Even cheap cars nowadays have USB connectors and stuff.

Hi, I've used several transmitters and have not been happy with any but the one linked below. Most i have tried produce a poor quality should, or interference from the engine can be heard. This transmitter can overpower radio 1 so your ipod can be heard over the frequency radio 1 uses. Good news for people like me who travel round the country and don't want to keep rescanning for a new FM frequency.

Its downside is the ipod does not plug into it, you have to use the provided phono (3.5mm) to phono cable. This does mean you can use and device with phono out, but it wont charge your ipod.

I purchased this item from UK but cant remember where from, but this is the same item.

I must admit I never used the FM transmitter in my Lexus but in my Nissan Micra driving school car, I was quite impressed, but only after alot of experementing. The only place it would work was when I mounted it right near the radio. But, finding a big enough gap between radio stations was proving a pain. I found that removing the arial to the radio works wonders. Does anyone know how much Lexus charges to plumb in an Ipod in a 2004 LS430?
