Ls400 - Time For A Service

Recommended Posts

Hi

Its come round to that time again, my (beloved) 1996 LS400 is about to clock up 90,000 miles and so due a service. What are my options around obtaining a cheaper service and not taking it to my local Lexus Garage, I am in Milton Keynes, and don't mind travelling a little, and also don't need it back the same day.

Ask your local Lexus dealership about their privilege scheme, £25 one off payment to join but you get good discounts off a variety of things including servicing (25% if memory serves me correct)

Or you could opt for a good local garage with a trustworthy reputation.

Westfield Motors in Rayleigh, Essex are pretty good, but I don't know if this would be too far for you...

They normally have a long waiting list though...

Hi, I have used Lexus MK. They seem fine and serve the most fantastic coffee but.............you pay for it all.

If you want to half (probably more) the labour then I know of a specialist who "knows LS400s well". Mine's been to him once and he did an outstanding job. He's in central Bedford, PM me if this is near enough.

Please can you tell me the name of the Lexus LS400 specialist in Bedford? I live in Kent but am prepared to travel for a reasonable service! I am afraid to ask a Lexus dealer! I have a 1996 LS400 with 107,000 on the clock with Full Lexus Service History

cant you just service it yourself?

its a very simple engine to service. i just did my 96 model myself. oil/filter, air filter, plugs and aux belt. took all of about 4 hours and £70!!

i feel the car isn't worth the money to get it serviced by anyone else. the cars are worth nothing now anyway wether they have full history or not.

i would still take it to an independent when the cam belt is due as i'm not that confident but for all the other parts there is a good walk through guide on the internet. its all very basic stuff. even by the parts and take it to a 'normal' garage and lose the lexus price!

Hi

I think you will have to wait ages for Steve to reply as I think he has sold his 400, he hasn't posted on here for months

I didn't think the collection we had for him would have been enough!
