What is the best software your ever bought for your computer and why?

ESET NOD32 Smart Security

Simply the best anit virus softwear available.

Once installed it picked up on 5 viral infections and 2 trojans that AVG let through.

Nothing has got through since installation 3 years ago.

It's got to be Flight Sim 2004 can't afford real lessons, so will never get a PPL or a CPL but can still fly a 747 or even Concord.

After all this time I have found a search engine that seems to work and is a lot faster than explorer and google chrome, Mozilla Firefox.

Well you do never know for sure but in 3 years NEVER a problem and i have on average 30 to 40 e-mail attatchments opening a day, some from "interesting" people!!!!

dunno, but ive got it on mine, i've got the "British English dictionary" add-on.

Mine was probably a game called the Curse Of Monkey Island and the second one - wasted hours with those and Doom!

Application wise, it would probably be iLife for the Mac, made some great DVDs with that.

In terms of what I use I'm always either using Firefox or VideoLAN :)

The internet was a dangerous discovery for me many years ago, I should have stuck to little BBS's and Fidonet messaging :D

I'm a 'firefox' fan too. I see recent versions of IE have started copying some of the useful features.

Also using its email companion 'Thunderbird'.

As above from all, Firefox. Also IrfanView, a free image editing package that allows easy cropping and resizing etc of your pics.

And of course AVG (Free), Zone Alarm (Free) and CCleaner!

Dolby digital live plugin for my Sound Blaster X-Fi. Dolby digital surround sound from stereo all the time. Should have been free though.
