My wife has recently been converted to the usefulness of the rev counter and has started driving in lower gears with a resulting improvement in acceleration.

I wondered how others drove with respect to refinement vs performance.

I'm assuming a steady speed on the flat without major hazards.

BTW I use 3rd normally.

I believe I have managed 30 in all gears... not recommend if you want to overtake in a top gear, or a blown engine in 1st...

Best for responce would be 2/3 but cruising would be sitting in 4th, and if its sunday and I have Alan P on the radio the bady slips itself into 6th :-)

1st or 2nd, usually 2nd as it will run upto 80mph. Enough to see off the boy racers ;)

cruising has 3rd normaly but 2nd does get used a bit at that speed aswell

Depends really, if I'm in a boy-racer mood, then I use 2nd, if not then it eventually gets put into 6th!

Oh I see Claire 'BOY' racer is it now...you know there are girl racers too!! :D :D :P :P

But I agree...much the same as you at 30mph! :D
