Getting Springs Fitted On Monday

Recommended Posts

OK - thanks to Mr G's superb group buy negotiating skills, I got my eibach springs.

After much hassle trying to get someone to fit them for less than an arm and bothlegs - have got myself booked in on Monday to get the springs fitted (£120).

My question is - what should I be wary of / worry about / check for etc after they are fitted?

My plans currently extend to merely counting that there are still four wheels on the car.

what sort of thing should I check to make sure they have done it correctly?

keep your eye on the spare in the boot :whistling:

May sound silly, but I'm gonna check everything before and after I leave my car anywhere.

Are they check/adjusting the wheel alignment afterwards?

gonna get it done a few weeks later - give the springs a chance to settle.

I went to get my alignemnt checked 1 week after I fitted the springs and it didn't require re-alignment  Great...I saved a few £'s there :D

PS Love that Avatar Matt, excellent

I have read that when installing springs, the ABS line can be overstretched causing the ABS light to stay on. I cant remeber how to fix this, but be aware of this

Also on the is300 there is a lever which is needed for the headlights which can be incorrectlty positioned.

Just make sure no warning lights are on, and there are no scratches on your wheels

Oh, and on the way home listen carefuly for noises which may indicate the springs are not seated properly

PS, could you post some before and after pics, because i am planning on getting the ribachs too, and wanted to see how noticeable the drop is

My pleasure.. :winky:

I'd suggest about 4-500 miles to let them bed in, then get your wheel alignment checked. :luck:

Here are piccies of when I did my car. I think there's a noticable difference, but the photo's don't really show it well. :)

Oh...maybe I should get mine checked again. I had my alignment checked after about 150 miles

won't be a problem Gord - doing 5 - 600 miles a week at the mo.

if I leave it the two weeks I was planning - will have done over 800 miles easily - will be well settled.

im thinking of having eibach springs installed too. My car is a "sport" wich is already 15mm lower than the SE, i cant realy se any difference on ifraz car on the before and after pictures. Did you run on the sport springs before?

Matthew did you get i noticeable drop with your eibachs ?

maybe better to go with the H&R springs (35mm drop) if you want a bigger drop ? or will you get problems with 18" wheels then ? (running on orginal 17 now)

(sorry for crapy enlish)

THE EIBACHS will be 15 mm lower than your cars now sitting.

you can easily fit 18" wheels, without any problems aslong as you get the correct offsets

where in sweden are you, i have friends in Malmo, Ystad and Kavlinge

ahh ok thanx, 15mm lower then, just as i thought :D

i live i linköping wich is south from stockholm.

i think i will order eibachs then, but it is pretty expansive for "only" a 15mm drop but i think my car needs to get lower so

not easy to find parts for lexus in sweden :( could it help by going GOLD! :P

Matthew did you get i noticeable drop with your eibachs ?

Not immediately - no.

the front was lower - slightly - the back looked no different.

but - after a 220 mile drive, and three days sat in a car park, it settled down a fair bit - and the drop is now noticeable.

30 mm is not a huge drop- but it nicely eliminates the excessive gap in wheel arch - I am quite with it.

Hmmm - wonder if this is the 3 days it took for your suspension bushes

to tear themselves to shreds as they settled in their new resting position ??

D'ya know if everything was tightened up with the wheels hanging or on the ground ?

I don't actually - but the guys who did it do a lot of this sort of work - so I have a fair bit of confidence in them.

didn't mean it took three days to settle - I didn't see the car for 3 days, at which time the drop was more noticeable.

for all I know, they settled down 30 seconds after I left it.

I haven't noticed any difference when a passenger - and I have quite a serious disc problem in my back.

After a long drive I would expect to be in pain, and I haven't noticed any increase whatsoever :D - we've done some miles since Matt lowered it (with Spaxx springs - one x or two?)
