Have to say, I'm still in love with mine after 2 1/2 years and 60,000+ miles.

In that time I've replaced the following:

Mid section of the exhaust £200'ish

Rear bearing £80 fitted

Air Con Condensor £500 fitted and regassed

Now I need an A/C compressor as it's packed in, however if you exclude the A/C it's been very cheap to maintain

Ive had mine for 3 years now and love her to bits, fixed all the normal things brakes and cambelt, plugs, leads dib cap even changed the radiator, Ive thought of going to the Mk 2 but cannot bring myself around to change my baby.

If I do, I will have to spend the money on repairs all over again on the mk 2 no dought.

I just love the look of the MK1.

Another rekindled topic....

I sold my original one and couldn't bond with the 300ZX so the only option was to replace it with another one bit this time in my fave colour, White, which apparently is called grey.

Got noooo plans to sell this beauty and even less now that it has its 10" rears.

Boys and there toys eh.

got any pics mate....

There a couple in the gallery but none with big wide rears yet.

Had my Aristo mk1 since the beginning of this year.Theres a few mk1 GS300 around where i live and the odd mk2.Not seen another Aristo yet though.

Since owning my car ive changed the cam belt and fan/power steering etc belt, and changed the oil/filter.Also had to replace the rear brake pads.

I also replaced the radiator because it was leaking around the top of it.

I really do like and enjoy driving the car the only real dislike is the poor visibility when going around roundabouts because of the thick front windscreen/roof pilliar.

I've had my 1997 R Reg for 2 and a bit years now, and I've done about 40,000 miles in it mainly M25, M3, and M23, and a bit of M1 during school holidays.

I only like the Mk2 when its got a fair bit of body kit added and apart from the really sporty version of the Audi A6 there's not much out there I'd swap it for.

I do like the new GS300 but the salesman at Croydon Lexus pi**ed me off with his attitude when I enquired about it. In any case another Lexus would mean dealing with their servicing and after care which makes it well worth not buying a Lexus ever again.

So, I'm marooned with the Mk1 and have decided to keep it on for a while longer and do it up a bit. Got the windows tinted last week, pics to follow, and then eye brows and spraying etc.

Lexus Croydon advised me the car is worth about £2.5k which makes it even more of a buzz when it gets all the looks at the petrol station (at the expense of the German girls cars).

cheers

Paul

Hi Paul

I see you are in Croydon, I work in Croydon.

Your car ilooks identical to mine what colour did you go for on tints?

If you don't mind me asking where did you get it done?

I think you would get more than £2.5k for your car if you were to sell it privately. Good Sport models go for around £3-4k even with six figure mileages.

As for Lexus Croydon they are crap. I took my gs there to have the brake warning light checked and they returned the car with the brake fluid resevoir cap missing and I drove it like that for a couple of days until I opened the bonnet to see it missing. They would not accept it was their fault. Never been back since.

Who do you use for servicing?

Hi Keith

got windows done at Autoshades in Sutton. (www.autoshades.co.uk). They were good but I have a couple of bubbles appearing and don't want to recommend them to the rest of the board until I have given them a chance to rectify (ie if they're ok, willing and correct fault then I'll give +ve recommendation).

I went for medium on front and dark on back, there weren't any colours to choose from just shades of darkness. I think I would have gone for a bit lighter now.

Last service was with Lexus Croydon but not next one, still haven't found a new lot to go with yet

cheers

Hi all, still got my MK1 GS300 sport and i must say she's a beaut, but she doesn't half have a thirst for fuel and tyres, and scared me half to death the other week when i lost the backend on a dual carriageway in the dry. Managed to control it in the end. In case your intrested its had 2 previous owners and 65k miles with full lexus service history, not sure about the P reg babe magnet gs300's though :P

Can't say I get many looks in mine, you do get the people at petrol stations having a good look at it, have though long and hard about selling it for another car, i'm craving sports coupe's with more power and quicker performance, not to mention a manual gearbox. If only they did a Lexus GS300 sport with a 6 speed getrag gearbox like the uk supra twin turbo's, oh and a uk twin turbo gs300 with the box would be nice.

It's nice to see so many other people on here with MK1's, i have to agree that the mk2's aren't as nice looking in my opinion, my dad owned a MK1 for 7 years so it rubbed off on me and i bought one, owned it for 10 months and have yet to see more than 1 locally, another P reg sport with 10" wide rears on it and in the same colour

If you're ever in the Derby/Nottingham area you'll probably see mine driving about

  • 2 weeks later...

Had mine for just on 2 years now and it's covered 15k (it was up to a heady 56,000 miles as of yesterday) flawlessly (touch wood) apart from one brake bulb!

The only thing i've shelled out on has been a pair of falkens for the back which came in at about 185 the pair (not bad for 10" rears!) It's done the 15k miles on LPG which hasn't helped the consumption but it's only costing 1/3 to 1/2 as much to fill up now :winky:

As has already been said - the Mk1 Sport is automotive pornography. A little kid called out 'nice car!' whilst driving through a car park in Christchurch this summer, which made our day :D

I've no plans to change mine and aim to keep it until the 250,000 miles mark if i can.

On a seperate note - got a taxi in Portugal last week - an old merc 190, which had covered over a million kilometers according to the driver!

Happy driving,

Darren

N reg 300 sport ,love it,

will be even nicer with 10's at rear but hey i can dream

got it cos the last jap car i had didnt have what you could call a back seat :) so i got what i had before but with a boot,  yeah it was a supra :)

Snap dude. My aerotop supra is making way for an aristo which is technically a 300 just with turbo's lol. I decided I wanted a supra still just dressed in a flash dinner jacket :D

Speed well I think I have that covered with a twin turbo plant in the car thats running a bar of boost and will have HKS 264 cams in it as soon as I get my hands on it so as a rough guesstimate will be pushing out at least 400 ponies. OK it won't handle like my lowered eibach/bilstein/trd anti-roll barred supra but I will have a newborn sprog in the back so I'll not be driving like a total headcase for quite a while now. I'm sure however that it being a 6 spd manual will make up for some that loss though lol. Stopping will be handled by putting the UK spec supra brakes I have sitting in my garage waiting to go on :)

right talk me through that front bumper brian how did u aquire it or mod it

Its coming on the car. AFAIK its a kazz sports one as are the side skirts. Available in japan and the states.
