Dodgy Paintwork

So there i was giving the lex a much deserved mini clean as there was bird crap, road crap & craps crap all over it.

i get the jet wash out and start on the car, i get round to the front bumper and stone me the paint start washing away exposing the white/grey underneath. i just couldnt believe it, o know the lex paint is thin but to wash away..

Needless to say i got the digi cam out and filmed the paint washing away as my evidence for when i get hold of Lex on Monday moring..

Who do you think the best person to contact is in the first instance. i was gona contact the service organiser bird (Jacki) over at Twickenham (where i bought the car) as i have dealt with her numerous times and she is very helpful.

using a jet washer should not start taking your paint off, i do not know any other car that has had the same problem,, cept ones with dodgy spray jobs in the first place.

still a respray of the front bumper wouldnt go amiss, im actually pleased this has happend. gets the stone chips sorted.. ;)

you will have to see about this one - im sure thay they will argue that because you had a pressure washer fairly close to the paint it isnt thier fault and u caused the paint to come off.

but fingers crossed for you.

the jet was that close cause i was getting bird crap and dead bugs off. if Lex want to argue the point then my argument is simple, where does it say in the owners manual, do not wash with home jet wash..

I dread to think what a jet wash at a petrol station would have done.

Seriously though i doubt if i will have any trouble,

I have a jet wash at home but its an industrial one and i have had no problems with washing it,should only be used at a distance

if you have a lot of crap on your motor you should try to soften the area first and use the jet wash as a final rinse.........now im not defending Lexus paint Paul, you are of course right but we all know how thin the paint is on a Lex as its been disscussed many times before,in future i would urge you to air on the side of caution.......

Just my 2 cents worth

had a similar problem with a styling kit bumper (factory fitted) all the lacquer was just peeling off, not even using a pressure washer just a normal hose, after big debate and many a phone call to dealer and lexus UK, finally managed to get them to respray it !!

Good result, but point is it shouldn't have happened in the first place !!
