  2. Hi folks Me and my girlfriend had been looking for a practical, safe family car and I'm still not quite sure what happened, but on Thursday we went out to look at cars and came back with a IS200 Sportcross! We had a test drive and all sense of practicality flew out the window. Ah well, the dog will just have to lose some weight and I think my two year old seemed quite comfy in the sports seats. Got lots of useful information from here already and no doubt be using this forum quite a lot in the future. Cheers Martin

  3. The trolley jack and axle stands look ok. As for the socket sets go for one of these, you get what you pay for and these have a lifetime replacement guarantee if you break any tool as long as you keep receipt. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_862421_langId_-1_categoryId_255215

  4. Lol. Acting as Devils Advocate, I would guess, that if there is enough battery, around town should be good, but if the battery is no charged enough or you only do town driving, you need the engine to kick in and this means bad MPG.

  5. Hi! I am very new to the Lexus experience and by chance have come across a decent IS300 53 Reg which I bought last week. I am keen on doing it up and to start off I would like to lower the ride. I am wondering if any of the fellow members have any lowering springs for sale or know where I can get any? My budget is £150. eBay seems too pricey at present and I have left it as my last resort. Any help will be highly appreciated. Best regards to all, Uzi

  6. If I am free I normally go, as said above its free food and drink, only a 5 min drive for me, also Quinton Wilson is normally there if it’s a new model launch and he is quite fun to talk to normally all about the antics he used to get up to on top gear.

  9. Sorry, haven't updated my profile in a while. The one I have now does not have LPG. And no, he didn't change any display bulbs (thank God) Seeing what a mess he made of all the other stuff he changed. I spent an entire day removing/tidying up wires etc!

  10. Hi Tony and welcome. This is quite a common problem on the earlier models and has been covered a few times over the years, this is how I did mine it is fairly easy if you can solder. First off you need to remove the cluster from the car ,then dismantle it as per the Lexls links below ,make sure you follow the first one exactly regarding when to disconnect the battery. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/electrical/instrumentcluster.html http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/electrical/clusterdisassembly.html You only need to follow the second one to board removal part . Once you have the boards separated you need to find and replace the following electrolytic capacitors ,it is ok to use ones of slightly higher voltage . They are readily available from places like Maplins ,you will need a small 15 or 20watt iron ,the capacitors are surface mounted to the board but are just ordinary capacitors . C212 (on the small Board) 10 uf, 16 V C142 (on the big Board) was 4.7 uf, 25V C147 (on the big board) was 10 uf, 50V These were board numbers in my Mk2 I assume the numbers would be the same on your Mk1 as the clusters are similar . Reassembly is just a reversal of removal ,just remember to not connect the battery until everything is plugged back in . The biggest problem I had was unplugging one of the connectors on the the back of the cluster it was a right cowson and caused much swearing and cursing before it finally gave in . Best of luck with your car.
