  3. They look like Mazda RX8 wheels. regarding cam belt change: Emailed seller and last belt change was on 15-08-2003 at 58,500 miles!! 2 years overdue Sellers argument was that on the 1st of May the car had been fully serviced and a 71-point check had been carried out by.......wait for it.........Halfords!!!! I wouldn't even trust Halfords to inflate my tyre.

  5. I mentioned this one the other day, it does look like a very good buy, and just because the cambelt isn't mentioned doesn't mean it hasn't been done. Even if it hasn't it's still a good price, considering Lexus will do it for £295. Not keen on the wheels though.

  6. We always stay at the same cottage in the Cot Valley near St Just. When we were there two years ago I didn't see another Lexus on the road....until we arrived. The farm has three rental properties, and the neighbouring one had an LS430 parked outside. The only one seen in 600 miles and it's parked next to us!

  9. I am now pleased to be a member of this exclusive (400) club. I have only seen two in my town. One is a lovely MK IV that NEVER seems to leave its drive. The other is a gold one (L - reg). They are getting rarer.

  10. The argument as been run through on a number of previous occasions "Is it worth the asking price" While I only paid £3750 for my 18k miles 98 Mark 4, that was 3 years ago and it as done 25K now but that is still 25k short of this one . So what is mine worth today? nothing ,because I am not selling and will probably take it to my grave. I decided when I found this car that was going to be the case, having owned 400s for over twenty years I don't think I can find a car that will match the model. So in the end the person who buys this will probably be thinking along the same lines as these examples are becoming as rare as rocking horse s---.

  11. Its a lovely car and I disagree with Rudd (sorry Rudd) but I think the seller is honest (eventhough a dealer). Re the colour being the most popular I agree it is. As for the price i'm sure that'll be negotiable but still worth near enough what is wanted. Less than 100,000, unmarked interior. 2 cambelt changes as per Lexus Service Manual next not due for ages. The only difficulty the seller might have is that' its on Gumtree & not fleabay a place where buyers tend to look when wanting a all the bells & whistles car Which is why I missed the bargain 1 owner low mileage LS400 beng sold on there for £500!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. I am a Grandad 3 times over 4 yrs, 3yrs & 9months and one more on the way due in September, we love every minute we have with them. 4 year old lives next door to us so we see her every day. Being a Grandad is the best title I have ever been given. Mike.

  13. "The bodywork and trim is in the most sought after colour scheme of Cashmere Beige Metallic" Not too sure about that ;) I think it's too expensive as well. Now if it was a nice silver MKI ........ :)

  14. I would keep the Rx, getting a 220d over that is insanity. The mpg of the is250 is fine, I have one over a year and I am not begging for money by the footpath to get by..! The mpg in these are way exaggerated. Around town you will get mid to late 20s and on long motorway runs you will get 30s and high 30s. The reliability of the 250 far surpasses any extra mpg you 'might' get out of the 220d as its not all that economical in the first place.

  15. If you want a 400h from a Lexus dealer this will give you an indication on age/mileage for your budget http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-RX/RX-400h/3.3-SE/Exeter/1686940-605105873-1607082.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_

  16. What????? That is just scaremongering. How do you as a driver control whether the engine is on or not when the batteries become low? The hybrid system controls battery state itself. Long before the batteries are in a critical state the system will shut down. You know when the engine is running from the energy screens or the EV light in the CT. The CT engine also isn't that refined so you know when it is running or not. From some of the comments in this thread it seems there is a complete lack of understand how the Toyota hybrid systems work, not that you need to know as a driver. You just drive it, you don't have to worry about whether the engine is running or not, if the batteries have high or low charge, or what rpm the engine is running at.

  17. Hi Guys, It took me ages and lots of online searching to find some feature tips n tricks here n there. I have hand picked few ( hand clicked :) )which i really liked. so here they are. If you have any thing to add please feel free. Thanks When you put the L/R mirror on and you put your car on reverse, the mirrors turn downwards allowing you to see the floor behind. If you hold the unlock button on the remote down for more than 2seconds all the windows roll down There's a rotary knob underneath driver's side dash that adjust the loudness of the beep when you lock and unlock your car ( i have not tried this yet ) Smartkey: If you leave the key inside the car and try to lock the vehicle using the door buttons it can detect the key is inside the car and warns you with a long beep ...how does it know whether the key is just inside the door or just outside in your pocket? Beats me. Smartkey (2): You can assign seat setting presets to each individual key (husband and wife for example) by pairing a key with a seat position preset button (1, 2 or 3). From then on whenever that key unlocks the car the seat will automatically adjust to the right position without having to press the seat memory button. Bluetooth Phone: You can get around the "can't dial when the car is moving" problem by simply dialing the number from the phone in your pocket - it will still come through hands-free once the connection is made. Bluetooth Phone (2): If you have a PDA that uses your bluetooth phone to sync it won't work while the phone is connected to the car. To get around this temporarily you can tell the car to try to connect to a different phone that you have previously paired (just borrow one for this purpose). As it attempts to pair with the other phone (the other phone doesn't have to be present for this to happen) it will release the current phone and therefore allow you to sync your PDA. Just reverse the process to pair the phone with the car again afterwards. Bluetooth Phone (3): If you switch off the car during a handsfree conversation the phone will offer you option of transferring the call back to your phone to continue it (works on Sony Ericsson T610 at least). Door Storage Pockets: You can actually pull these and they will swing outwards 45 degrees to more easily get to items. I Agree Button: You can get rid of this prompt on the Nav system by saying "I agree" into the voice recognition system when this screen is first presented rather than pushing the button. Be aware the voice recognition system in the LS430 isn't all that great (as you know) so it might require a few attempts until it correctly acknowledges the command. Rear massaging seats will change speed if you hold down the button The 3rd button bellow volume controls on sterring wheel is preset volume memory button. set your volume to where you want it tobe then hold the 3rd button down for about 5sec untill you hear a beep. (I got my set to very low volume, so i can just tap it when i need to answer my cell) Don't forget the little roll of material behind the rear view mirror to keep the sun out of your eyes. Just pull it down...how neat is that

  18. Comparing insurance purely on price is folly. As an example I wouldn't touch Admiral with a barge pole after having to fight with them for 6 months after an accident to get them to pay out the amount I had originally stated on the commencement of the policy, and an amount that the financial ombudsman agreed with. With insurance companies you never know how good they are until you need to call on them to make good on their side of the agreement.
