  1. Hi there There was nothing wrong with the Gs300 I sold. The car was and I think still is in very good condition. It does actually drive likes it's done very low miles. nothing wrong with the suspension, no leaks, brake pads were done in I think June, last service was done at Lexus Birmingham, it had the recall job done, it had a brand new bonnet fitted by Lexus dealers due the old one having abit of rust on it, that was done in April I think, i cant quiet remember, it had stone chips on front bumper, im just being picky there, and everything worked on it, well it will do, it's a Lexus.

  3. Mildly interesting, maybe: I've had my IS300h for one year and one day today and have driven almost exactly 10,000 miles (just passed through that figure by about 20 miles this afternoon). I'm certainly happy with the fuel economy overall, though now we're heading into winter I know from last year that despite my best efforts it will drop by almost 10 mpg from where it is now. My poorest result, last February gave me 43.44mpg and my best, back in July was 52.93 (figures through fuelly.com) I received a 1-year courtesy call yesterday from Janet at Bristol Lexus, which was nice. Yes, I know she's looking forward to the point when she can legitimately start offering me an "amazing deal" on a new car but it was nice to hear from her.

  5. Thanks for all the replies. I have a yaris T sport which was commented on having a firm ride on reviews but I don't find it too bad at all. Yes I will test drive one and see how it goes! Ideally I would purchase an IS300h but they are out of my price range at the moment, @talaipwros can't afford new I am afraid, have always preferred to buy used cars with cash

  6. I ran a 400h for over 3 years and a 450h for over 1 year. I would say that the difference in running costs is not important enough to worry about. The two deciding factors would be resale value and also the fact that things are more likely to go wrong with an older car. From a consumption perspective I use to average 28mpg in the 400h, and now 31mpg in the 450h (mine is pre-facelift model and I believe that the post-2012 cars - with DRLs - are a little better), so not much difference. I am not too sure how people manage to attain lofty figures like 37mpg, but I would argue that my driving style is pretty much representative of the average driver. While I don't have a very heavy foot, I put enjoyment before economy. I would recommend buying from a dealer: they offer a cast iron warranty that should take care of any problem during the first year of ownership. Like others on this forum, I have had very few issues with both cars, and all were sorted under warranty. You may also want to consider an extended warranty - again from the dealer (there are several threads on this) and remember that servicing costs at a main dealer is cheaper for cars over 5 years old. To put things into context, both RX have been cheaper to run than my previous Renault Grand Scenic 1.6 due to breakdowns, less than accommodating dealers and flaky warranty. I'd say go and test drive both cars and make sure you can fit baby seats and buggies in!

  7. This has come up a few times. Try the search facility for this forum. The only bit I can recall was talk of secondary tint kits applied and causing issues. The aerial is located in the very top portion of the rear window. If you didn't know it would be easy to assume all the wires are for the HRW.

  9. Thanks Paul, I will. I halved my petrol costs when I switched from the IS250 to the IS300h, and using economy 7 and the occasional Supercharger my 'fuel' costs will substantially reduced again. However, when you factor in the cost of the car it makes no sense at all, even when employing degree level man maths [emoji23]. For me, it's the whole package that sets the car apart from anything else on the road and I just fancy being a part of that. No doubt I'm paying a premium but hey ho, can't take it with me [emoji15] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. The OP kicked off a heck of a thread here [emoji4]. I'm afraid the 12% on Marmite and Typhoo tea price rise announcement have proven to be the straws that broke the camels back and I've ordered a Tesla Model S. A 3rd and extended test drive on Saturday confirmed it for me. It is an astonishing piece of machinery/technology and I'm not waiting for the rest of the market to catch up. I readily accept the build quality is not at Lexus standards and I will have to cope with no jacket hook or vanity mirror light [emoji4] I've thoroughly enjoyed my 8 years of Lexus ownership, 2nd & 3rd gen IS's and currently an NX300h, which IMO is a superb car. It's a crazy amount of money to spend on a car but YOLO as my daughters would say [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Haha, yes anyones welcome, it took 5mins start to finish. By not using the carista obd2 it was done for under £20. if theres a group of people close to each other it could be a very cheap thing to do.

  16. So, new starter motor fitted no problem and has worked ok so far. cranking speed is higher and the sound when cranking is noticeably different, too early to say if that's for better or worse! fingers crossed.

  18. Since the acceleration of the IS is quite good when you're already at speed, a few seconds of engine revving should hardly be a problem. Doesn't a car with an ICE rev when you're accelerating? To be clear, I;m not saying anyone is wrong or stupid for not liking the IS300h with its CVT. In my opinion, if you think the IS300h is revving too much with all of its engine refinement and power, it's the wrong car for you.

  19. The problem with the CVT drone is that you shouldn't be hearing it most of the time since the purpose of the ISh or the GSh isn't flooring the gas pedal. That's what irks me about some professional reviews, they race a IS300H for example on the race track and say it's average since you can't race with it. Every car has a particular purpose, if you want the fastest car available with a great throttle response, there are much better cars suited for that purpose. Even in a Prius or a CT you should rarely hear the drone if you drive it normally, and both have a lot less power and refinement than the IS. The IS is more about a relaxed drive with some sports aspirations, the CVT is perfect for that purpose. My point is, if you want to fly off from every standstill, you probably bought the wrong car.
