  1. I've never tried charging the rechargeable Toothbrushes that way John, how do you stop then falling over when you go round a bend?🤣

  2. Hey Lexus Family, I am delighted to announce that I recently picked up my very own Lexus LC. It is a launch edition LC 500h, 1 of 5 in the UK. I will attach some photos of my new car below.

  3. My 91 year old next door neighbour is a sprightly chap. He still plays golf, crown green bowling, and is still fit and physically active. Purely because of his age, his premium went to £1,478 for a small Peugeot 107.

  4. hey everyone, I am having an issue where my audio is intermittent for the radio, works perfectly well for sat nav voice. I was wondering if you guys have tried the self diagnosis screen on the SC 430? I have looked at multiple threads from the Prius to the LS about turning the lights on and off 3 times/ pressing the display button on etc. However, I am still struggling to access this screen? If anyone has any suggestions for my '04 SC430 I would be most grateful! Thanks in advance, Thomas 🙂

  5. Someone called 'Aden Shomefun' on the Facebook group 'Lexus Owners Club UK' has just posted this in the last few minutes: Found this parked up in East London. Obviously stolen. Chassis number ends in 7013. Anyone missing an RX?

  6. Firstly, in various tests and reviews it took more than 5 minutes to defeat, and that's going at it with hammers, chisels and saws. Secondly, just ease of use. It's far easier to use and store than the full disk-cover types; when I take it off I just plonk it on the floor behind my seat. Oh, and it doesn't damage the steering wheel either. I've seen some people say that the disk-lok is a tight fit so it could cause some damage.

  7. I would say my non-air Luxury model suffers similarly on roads as you describe. It's a tall, heavy car and I presume they gave it fairly firm suspension to limit body roll. I can drive on similar roads in my 1992 LS400 and the ride on that is in a different league. Even the 1999 Avensis with 277k miles that I occasionally drive is better. When I changed to a full set of Continental all-seasons from an aged mix of Dunlops and Michelins the ride got a bit better, but I'd say it's still the thing that's least like a luxury car about it. That being said, it's other qualities of smoothness and refinement are why I still enjoy it after 4+ years, and I have no plans to change it for at least as long again.

  8. Yes, in petrol HV mode all of the time. Compared to our previous 2018 model RX the NX falls in to EV mode automatically much more regularly and at higher speeds.

  9. They cost £84 per alloy (£70 exc. VAT), which was reasonable considering my alloy/tyre insurance covered me for £150 per alloy.

  10. Welcome. If you read back through all the past posts on this forum, like I first did, you’ll discover tons of useful things about our fabulous car.

  11. I'll be buying a new hybrid just before they are banned unless a) fuel cell cars come forward at a sensible price b) BEV get significant reliable range and much lower charging time and reduce in price, and c) the EV infrastructure improves dramatically. I'm sure I can't be the only one thinking like this...

  12. I don't understand why Lexus are releasing this as another "self-charging" hybrid instead of EV. There's no need for more hybrids and their only half decent EV is the RZ which is crazy expensive. Lexus seem to have lost the plot.

  13. There hasn’t been a F Sport UX in the UK with that combination. Either fabric and Tahara (UK name for their fake leather) or full leather. The choice depends on the year and options pack.

  14. Yes, the F Sport seats are leather.

  15. Yes it should be covered. Makes no difference if it is Takumi or any other grade - the warranty is identical.
    1 point
  16. I agree with you. The 3 year manufacturer's warranty is more comprehensive than the 'used' Relax warranty and doesn't have the exclusion for trim. I would therefore insist this is fixed under warranty unless they can prove it was caused by neglect. As for the leather, it's a common complain, especially for perforated leather, and Lexus seem to put it down to wear and tear and a character of the natural material. I don't think it's bad enough to take it to court for not being fit for purpose.

  17. Im gonna sound like a broken records here but all i can say is im super happy (including the cold spell last winter) with michelin primacy 4 VOL and after 6k miles, they're like new (they're hard tyres). Noise levels good too.

  18. Anyone with a Lexus or Toyota with this canbus attack vulnerability needs to speak to their dealer, to Lexus UK and also use Facebook etc to question Lexus on what they’re doing to sort this.

  19. I felt sick watching that, and I haven't even bought one yet. Absolute scum. I have posted this elsewhere but Lexus' inaction over this is inexcusable. I have posted this on another, similar posts but I have found that the only way, to obtain a serious response from large corporations, after failing through normal channels, is to bombard their Facebook page with questions and factual accounts of the problem. One example is an expensive, but noisy fridge I owned. After failing to be taken seriously, I took this approach and was contacted immediately. My year old fridge was taken away and replaced with a new one. It sounds as if theft of RX450s is now common enough that several owners bombarding Lexus UK Facebook page with their concerns, experiences and concerns about Lexus’s failure to resolve the issue is not something they would welcome. I have started the ball rolling and, as a potential purchaser, have expressed my concern on Lexus FB page.

  20. Indeed - this is not EV bash, it is bash on idiotic idea of banning internal combustion before making any steps to build infrastructure which could handle EVs and just expecting everything to sort itself out. I personally have no issues with BEV, but I do believe they need to stand on their own two feet, without subsidies, without coercion... and if people still buy them and they work for them... perfect! Maybe one day they will be so good that people just going to prefer them over "outdated" ICEV and ICEV will naturally decline and disappear (same as steam engines disappeared in the past) - that is fine as well. But every sane person understand that BEVs just don't work for most, so if left to their own natural evolution and adoption they won't get adapted even by the end of this century... what is the solution? Ban people form buying what they want and need... and then expecting everyone will be happy about it?

  21. Please shoot me down in flames if I have this wrong ! If these are solid "silver" coloured plastic covers / inserts . as they, the centre caps, are on my original Ls400 wheels .. cannot the paint lacquer finish be totally removed, to get back to the original solid plastic and colour, with the rest of the wheels painted / powder coated to match the finish and colour of the solid plastic inserts ? Then you'll never need to worry about the " finish " breaking down in anyway just a thought Malc

  22. On my pieplates the lacquer has also started to peel off as well. I did start to try and remove all of it but it was taking for ever so as not to damage the finish underneath so any recommendations as to what is the best thing to use that would be effective but not damage the plastic finish?

  25. Looks ok from what is difficult to tell just from photos. It seems to have had quite a lot of rework in the past, I wonder if chasing the same fault or something different. I think the fact that you can make the fault occur by touching the wiring is probably the best place to continue the diagnosis. I'd remove a section of the black wiring shroud back to where you were moving the wiring so you can move each individual wire to identify which one has a problem. It could well be a break in a wire if the harness has been moved a lot in the past, or it could lead to a problem at the connector/pin - especially if the wiring is a little tight when fully assembled and there has been any strain.

  26. It does have me bamboozed/almost pulling my hair out haha

  27. I agree with everything Colin says/asks but can you also identify which wire when 'wiggled' causes it to connect? Is it the blue and white wire perhaps? I think that will be the head unit to amp remote turn on.
    1 point
  28. possibly a bad solder joint on the connector socket, a cracked track on the board near the connector, the pins on the plug need to be bent to give a better mechanical connection, or a break in one of the cables near the connector plug. Are you able to take a close up of the just the one PCB connector which is causing problems, rather than a picture of the whole board - both top and bottom.

  29. Hi Neil/all, So I have narrowed my audio issue to the wires that come from the frame of the car to the connector. When I hold the wires the apart a little about 5-7cm from the connector the audio works fine. As soon as I bolt the amp into the body of the car and the wires are tight again the audio drops. Any chance you know of a remedy? Thanks, Thomas

  31. Hi Neil, Should I be looking for a different part number from what is on the side of it (86280-0w070)to avoid it happening again?
    1 point
  32. Yes that does sound like the known issue with the early amplifier. I've found one ML amp but it's not the same part number. We need to find the thread that deals with this issue to find out if it can be fixed easily.
    1 point
  33. Thanks Neil, I agree I think it is most like a pin. When I hold the connector tight I am able to adjust the fader and balance etc. I am hoping it is going to be a simple fix 😄
    1 point
  34. The good news is it seems to be the second connector at the back of the Mark Lev amp that is either loose (or the amp is on the way out?) When I hold in the connector the amp powers on for a few seconds and the audio comes through, then the amp fans stop and the radio goes back off. In your experience do you think its the connection needing adjusted or a new amp? Thanks,Thomas
    1 point
  35. Nvm, wrong part I was reading off, yeah mine is 86280-0w070 too!

  36. Thanks!! I got his working on my IS and RX, the SC doesn't want to play ball 😞

  37. Hi Thomas, I've seen the vid, the head unit looks okay. Have you replaced the radio fuses? I would check/replace the 30A audio fuse in the engine bay and look carefully at the connection to the ML amp in the boot. Try the balance/fader knob on the head unit. If that doesn't produce anything on the head unit display then it points to a connection failure to the amp or an amp issue. I think this explains what you were trying to do but I'm not sure how much of it works on the later versions. https://www.wikihow.com/Override-Lexus-Navigation-Motion-Lock Let me know the amp part number, I may have a free spare. I think it's supposed to be 86280 - 0W070 ?

  38. Hi Thomas, the hacks are good to know but the Navi screen has very little to do with the audio. The audio head unit sends the signal to the amp and the amp sends it to the speakers. Are all of the radio fuses okay and does the Mark Levinson/Harmon Amplifier turn on? You could post a vid of what happens when you turn on the head unit. Maybe we can tell a bit more from that? Does the aerial go up when you switch on the radio and do the balance and fade controls register on the head unit screen?
    1 point
  39. Yeah I just tried it on my 2005 RX 300 and it came up first time no issues displaying the screen. Sadly it still doesn't work for the SC430, I think there must be a different sequence of events to activate it...

  40. Interesting. I recall now seeing something like this for RX. Then promptly forgot.

  41. If anyone has an SC and has a method of getting the self diagnosis display up I would be eternally grateful haha
    1 point
  42. It is the sound coming from the speakers as far as I can see/hear. The radio unit itself switches between stations and cd etc fine. The aerial goes up and down accordingly, the sat nav voice works fine. The issue seems to be getting the speakers to play audio. I ripped the car out yesterday to reach the amp and fuse boxes. (I have been researching this issue for a couple of days but I am no further forward)
