  1. Just wanted to let everyone know my car has arrived, it has been converted and passed its MOT so we are now just waiting on registration. It's had a full service etc. Also and will be getting lanoguard undersealing. IMG_6429.HEIC IMG_6432.HEIC IMG_6437.HEIC IMG_6434.HEIC IMG_6438.HEIC

  5. Ha, ha Alan. I got a communication late last year to say my finance agreement was "nearing the end" when in fact it had 15 months to run. Queried this with the dealer and it appears its all down to the delivery timescales albeit they are much improved. They said that I would be invited to their VIP event weekend and in fact I am going tomorrow. They have an NX450H f-sport en-route at present and have given me an option on it. Gut feeling is that it's just a bit early for me to change but never say never- if the deal is beyond amazing I may be tempted! Alternatively and like you I may look to order early for delivery later in the year and if so will consider a Takumi.

  6. I suspect a mechanic might put it on a hoist and then jack up the chassis so that the suspension is no longer loaded. - which might reveal any source of movement or wear. Next time I'm off work I'll pop round to my mechanic and let him look . Thanks

  7. I only went for the sport because the colour I wanted was the fsport exclusive. having tried the extra takumi as a courtesy car I would probably go for that myself next time as the seats are far comfier than in the sport

  9. Some more modifications done. Managed to find some super rare (especially in UK) 19" Forged F-Sport wheels. Also had to get specific wheel nuts to fit them. Be rude not to get OEM ones, managed to find a new set from a Lexus dealer in USA.

  10. I did it for my 450h. Got a key from ebay £40. Sent it away to get it wiped clean £20. Reprogrammed myself using Techstream £60 software. Still not cheap to DIY it.

  11. Of course your description of the people and their comments overrides your findings. You are right and they are wrong attitude. There are also paranoid trolls that claim being anonymous is necessary for their own safety despite the fact that they’ll come on here to make disparaging comments instead of not commenting at all. It says a lot. I’ve not had any problems with my terrible UX although there are things I’d improve in a hypothetical makeover. There’s a big difference between a car being faulty and finding you don’t like it but there’s no drama in that.

  12. Methinks almost all and any Ls400s now are well maintained and well, sort of " loved " Keeping a 25 years PLUS young car on the road must entail a certain amount of tangible endearment ............ and strangely, with the Ls400, not a huge amount of unnecessary expense compared to other marques ..........😇 Malc

  13. It will stay this way until we, the punters, say no. If we stop accepting their crap offers and refuse the deal things would change in a heartbeat. Sadly like everything else in the UK we just roll-over and let things slide.

  14. I swapped out my standard halogen for Osrams and it did make a significant difference. After one failed I then swapped them out for a Japanese brand with a higher lumen than the OSRAM…. and they were hopeless. My other half refused to drive it on rainy nights. So I then decided to try an LED swap out… going for the Auxiracer off Amazon. Wasn’t that scientific of a choice…. They were cheap at £20 something pounds, plug in and play…no wiring or modifications and I wanted to get a feel ( literally) for any heat issues. They have proved to be absolutely fine with a much improved beam distance etc. Passed my MOT last week ( no advisories 👍) nothing mentioned.

  15. My NX450H Premium Plus is 2 years old next month and given the delivery timescales I am looking ahead to a possible change. I am considering a NX450h f-sport. Does any member who has moved from a NX450h Premium to a NX f-sport wish to share their thoughts particularly in terms of ride quality?

  16. Hi chaps Yes, I did look at the one in Westfield and it’s definitely well overpriced. I personally wouldn’t give more than £9k for it. There are people on here far more qualified than me to cast judgement but what about the Balfour one?

  17. Hi, can you be more specific on what you mean by "every" risk. What area of car insurance are you confident you can be competitive on, age, car type, area, cover etc? Any help you can give to reduce premiums yet still offer quality cover would be welcomed on this forum. I have approached you in the past but your quote was over twice what I finished up paying. What is your area of expertise?

  18. Hi Ken, Strangely enough I have also being thinking of soon changing from a march 22 450h premium plus but I remember testing a sport and finding the seats uncomfortable and wondering if the takumi seats are as comfortable as my current seats. Also it would be interesting to hear from you after the visit, regarding any deals, part exchange, delivery time, etc. Many thanks and good luck!

  21. Presumably you are now having the Full rather than Intermediate service, I don't think the prices have changed much over that period. Bear in mind that with a 2014 car you may still qualify for the Relax warranty, and if you sneak in the last service immediately before the 10-year / 100,000 mile limit you will get another full years cover (at least that is my understanding).

  23. I think your right, Still trying to work through the issues with the dealer but it seems I have no choice but to keep it, the loss is far too much to comfortable with it. I know that the UX is a reasonably good car and if we can get all these faults sorted out it will be ok, It has just lost it's shine for me now and feel good factor is long gone.
    1 point
  24. Of course, it's just the level of depreciation that's the issue, £25k in 4 months seems extremely harsh, does it not.

  25. Its not definite of course, it could be different situation but as soon as you drove your new car out of the dealership its value drops, its a business of course they have to get the most money from your car if they sell it again.

  27. The only issue I have is that a F=Sport, isn't a "F" or sporty. A bit like owning a BMW M=Sport or Audi RS-Line. All show and no go.

  28. I looked at this in a detailed way when running an ES. The Lexus UK position is the gearbox oil is for the life of the car and never needs changing. The question is what is their definition of the life of the vehicle? 10 years, 15 years? What if you want to run for longer? In other countries they change the fluid around 50-60k miles which seems prudent and sensible. If the car is a keeper and manages to avoid being stolen changing the oil at 60k miles max seems a good idea. Independent specialists will do this job with the correct Toyota ATF.

  29. It will probably be underneath the dashboard, near the pedals. That's where it is on an IS250. You might have to remove some lower trim panel to access it.

  31. A judder through the pedal just before you stop would indicate ABS reluctor rings on the driveshafts. Although get the engine codes read first . If in time you get a garage to look at the driveshafts, get the ABS sensor taken out the rear hub, if the ridges on the reluctor rings are worn away like this photo..they need replacing .

  32. And if the LBX doesn't meet your aspirations then you could be down another 15k - or worse. Wouldn't that be a bummer!
    1 point
  33. Thank you Bob and Neil. I am very reassured by your analyses and will get those codes read asap. Your comments on the reluctor rings may be pertinent as I've recently noticed a hint of ABS "judder" on gentle braking just before stopping. The last thing I need at the moment is 'sympathetic' warning lights!!

  37. I made some remarks about the UX and got shot down in flames on this forum site. I still have the same opinion - having driven one for two days - but I am keeping shtum now for fear of reprisals.😬🙊

  38. Second hand car prices are poor at the moment and can’t be compared with 2 years ago. I’d guess at £24k which sounds disappointing but it’s not the brand, it’s the market. You can manipulate the deal to sweeten it or wait a few months until the LBX is discounted. What was wrong with the terrible UX?

  41. It was a pretty tight fit. I've taken them off now and will get pipes welded on. The back box delete is fairly quiet and can't really be heard in the cabin. I might get them sorted properly at some point.

  42. Haha "tin mice" made me laugh. Yep there is no danger if a leaky boot over here, there is little rust but all the rubber mounts etc detriorate in the summer heat. I also had a "GCC" spec condenser and radiator fitted. Most of the car washers over here use a duster and call it a "water less car wash"🤣

  48. *** Warning resurecting and old post! *** DAMN.....Looks like its my turn for this issue, i've scanned the car, tried all the initialisation procdures and all points to a fault with the actuator....In at Lexus in the next few weeks, I will let you know how I get on. I MIGHT, have a go at disassembeling the unit and rebuilding it....doesnt look a complicated component may just be a motor/bearing issue like the oil pump bearings in the MK3's.

  49. Well, when I got my IS250 I occasionally- when driving at night - would flick from dip to main just to check that they were actually on! I thought the standard lighting was far inferior to my previous Honda Accord. Even more of a surprise was that when I checked with the Lexus dealer if it was possible to upgrade to an HID bulb, I was told my model already had them! So I did fit the Osram Nightbreaker laser Xenarc and they were an excellent upgrade - especially the dipped beam, which gives a brighter, better controlled light along the verges of our country lanes. They are also road-legal in the UK. https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/d4s-osram-night-breaker-laser-xenarc-220-bulbs-next-generation-pair.html
