  1. I think everyone could do with starting afresh! It's fine to voice opinions but everyone needs to cut each other some slack and be more respectful. Osaka and Chav and existing members. Just my humble opinion.
  2. I think TDi are the UK suppliers - maybe why Lextasy don't ship overseas now?
  3. From my point-of-view I like my car as it is. It's the closest I'm getting to a sensible family car! I think with the Lexus brand, as is evident here, you have a wide variety of people, different ages etc who have spent a lot on their cars to begin with, so not everyone wants to go the modding route. A lot of people use their cars for business too, so it's not always the best way of creating the right impression! You get more people modding the Fords, Citroens & Vauxhalls for example, because they tend to be younger people who spend less on the initial outlay of a car, and who want to stand out from the crowd. With Lexus, they tend to stand out well anyway - and if people are going to mod, it tends to be under the bonnet as some of the models can feel a bit under-powered.
  4. Whatever the reality, I think the parent's should be shot for allowing those kids to be placed in a position like that. Whether Jacko is trying to recreate his childhood or is a perv, what responsible parent thinks it's ok for a child to share a bed with him???
  5. You buy the kits per side - piston kit is about £15 and seal kit was £50ish. Not sure why the price difference!
  6. Congratulations...and what's Pass Plus?!
  7. Just called Lexus and apparently there are 2 caliper repair kits, one for all the seals etc and one for the pistons. Not sure which I'd need to go for but presumably with it (front n/s) seizing it'd be the piston? With the kits, is it fairly straightforward to sort it out myself (well, with a responsible grown-up accompanying me!) or do I need to go to a garage. Have had an online quote for a used caliper (not sure if it's been refurbed) at £94, what would it cost for a new one and am I ok to replace one and not the other? Thanks.
  8. Called Swift and they didn't have anything in unfortunately. Will take a look on buy and sell too. Thanks
  9. Sorry, I missed that!!! Thanks, will do
  10. Oh, that's good if I can - is it easy to do? I know the caliper is sticking (seizing?), but if a seal kit will work it sounds the better option to replacing it. I take it it's easily ordered from Lexus?
  11. Hi there, I have a 99 GS and am planning to keep it a long time, so am not worried about it having a full Lexus service history. I've found a good independant garage who service my car at a fraction of the price of Lexus. I tend to buy the parts from Lexus and get my mechanic to do his stuff as it's the labour costs that tend to bump up the bill. Yeah, it's bound to be a bit more expensive than your Avensis, but you get what you pay for and there are ways to lessen the expense. With the IS you're about to buy, just check they've changed the cambelt as that tends to be the biggie. As for the car locking up if the battery goes flat, with no disrespect to your dad, that's not true. It's the same as with any other car, it's a pain in the bum, but you won't need a Lexus engineer out. Go for it and enjoy the ride!!
  12. There are some good insurance deals to be had through Gold. Doesn't guarantee everyone always saves money (is dependant on your driving record etc), but it's worth a shot!
  13. Wouldn't mess around suing them, get in with another magazine, send them the details and tell them it's their loss. Should be able to cancel your hotel booking without cost as long as you cancel before 1pm on the day. As for loss of earnings, contact the mag and explain then submit an invoice - see where you get. It's annoying but it's a reflection on their unprofessionalism rather than on you.
  14. D'oh! Will check those. Trust me to think of the complicated stuff first. Will check the levels and the light. <slinks away quietly>
  15. The front nearside caliper on the car keeps sticking. We've (err, well my husband) has sorted it out once, but it's doing it again, so think I definitely need to replace it. What are my options - do I have to get it from Lexus and can I replace one or is it best to do them both at the same time? Thanks!
  16. Got in my car today, went to drive off and the handbrake light came on. Checked the brakes and the handbrake isn't on but the light hasn't switched off at all. Brake pads and discs are fine, I noticed the nearside front left caliper is slightly sticking though - would that have anything to do with it? Any ideas?
  17. Steve, please could I have the details so I can pay by PayPal please? Thanks!
  18. I went from an IS200 Sport to a MkII GS300 Sport and have never looked back. The sport is slightly lower with sport suspension so a bit of a harder ride than the SE. However I didn't notice that much difference between my IS sport and the GS. The Sport has the front lip and rear spoiler. Not sure of the difference in the interior (if any), but I know it was hard to find a decent sport with the sat nav option (so didn't bother). With the car being bigger you obviously can't fling it around the corners as much as the IS (!), but the power is great. Flick the power switch and the acceleration feels great. Leave it off, and you only realise how quickly you've moved when you look in the rear view mirror and see how far back the other cars are!! I really like the combination of luxurious interior - the full leather, leccy memory seats and autodim mirrors are great, but also the look and styling of the car. In my area, I see far less GS's than IS's so it feels even more 'exclusive'. I love my car, don't miss the IS at all (although the GS does take a bit of getting used to) and won't go back...will only go bigger!!!
  19. Lexus used to sell the chrome pipes...may be worthwhile getting a price from them?

  21. Hahaha, the birds watch out for when you've finished! Same happened to me, washed and dried the car, applied paint cleaner, polish then finished off with carnuba wax...10 minutes later, covered in bird poo!!!
  22. We had a lovely Jap import 2.2VTech Prelude, huge exhaust and it sounded great. It was debadged and we were forever having people gawping at it when we were driving. Unfortunately had to sell it about 3 years ago - not much good as a family car, though if the kiddy seat fitted in the back ok, I think my husband would still be driving it!
  23. Congratulations! She's beautiful!
  24. Anyone who has to get their kids to school for 9am, and anyone who works full time any distance from their home would be screwed.
