  1. Most air conditioners have their capacity rated in British thermal units (BTU). Generally speaking, a BTU is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound (0.45 kg) of water 1 degree Fahrenheit (0.56 degrees Celsius). Specifically, 1 BTU equals 1,055 joules. In heating and cooling terms, 1 "ton" equals 12,000 BTU. A typical window air conditioner might be rated at 10,000 BTU. For comparison, a typical 2,000-square-foot (185.8 m2) house might have a 5-ton (60,000-BTU) air conditioning system, implying that you might need perhaps 30 BTU per square foot. (Keep in mind that these are rough estimates. To size an air conditioner for your specific needs, contact an HVAC contractor.) The energy efficiency rating (EER) of an air conditioner is its BTU rating over its wattage. For example, if a 10,000-BTU air conditioner consumes 1,200 watts, its EER is 8.3 (10,000 BTU/1,200 watts). Obviously, you would like the EER to be as high as possible, but normally a higher EER is accompanied by a higher price. :duh: :duh: Basically the higher the BTU the more powerfull the unit. Most are between 9000 and 12000.
  2. I looked everywhere last year too but couldn't get one. Did you leave the unit on all night? I haven't done yet and it did warm up quite a bit in the night, so was back on this morning.
  3. Me if there is room for one more. Anyone can apply on-line for tickets, but they are very strict normally on the male/female split being even.
  4. If you get the key codes removed from the central locking/alarm you won't need a new aftermarket alarm. They all have the same issue, someone could use the key in the door but wouldn't be able to switch off the alarm or start the car.
  5. They are dealer fitted though so they are still after-market.
  6. I bought one a month ago, and so glad I did today! I went for the B&Q 12000 model for £298. Its actually branded Amcor who are an established brand. I would have gone for the more expensive Delonghi 12000 model B&Q sell but I couldn't be bothered to wait 14 days and then pay for delivery, but that unit probably is better. I'd seen the one in costco, but its only 9000BTU and it is bigger than the one I got. Last time I went in Costco they had sold out too. It does work very well, you have to vent the hose out of the window but it quite quickly cools the room by a few degree's. Only problem now is I want one in every room, or at least another down stairs.
  7. Seems totally wrong to me he should be banned from driving when he wasn't driving at the time.
  8. That engine is used in a lot of cars, VW Passat, Golf, Bora, Beatle etc, as well as Seat's, Audi's and Skoda's. There were issues with the ignition coils failing (and long waiting times for the parts) but that has now been resolved and they are very well proven engines.
  9. Which engine is he going for? Both the 1.8T and 2.4 feel a bit sluggish due to the extra weight. I've only driven the manual version, auto must be worse.
  10. I've sent him a PM asking if he can remove the picture.
  11. Strange, it doesn't prompt me to login, and just shows the image as not being viewable.
  12. I doubt the popups come from this site. Do they look something like this: http://www.itc.virginia.edu/desktop/docs/messagepopup/ If so follow the instructions to stop the Windows messenger service, or look at the ms site: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/usi...te/stopspam.asp
  13. Mine's at its best on the motorway, returns 40+ mpg at 80-90mph and the engine is silent. Around town mpg is worse and you can hear its a diesel.
  14. Funny that they put the Porche Cayenne next to the Austin Allegro!
  15. A quick search on google suggests the ProLaser III is not new, it is the type of hand held laser gun that has been in use for some time.
  16. Best of luck finding new work Chris, I'm sure it will work out well for you.
  17. You flashed them your Mercedes keys ?? Last motorshow was just before I sold the Lex!
  18. Last year I was able to get into the VIP suite just by showing my car keys, they didn't want to turn a Lexus customer away. I'm sure the gold card will work even better though...
  19. Has lots more road presence though, the new RX does look like a girly 4x4.
  20. Gas for me everytime! Yes they can taste different, because the food is less likely to be burnt!
  21. Me too! In Harlow (well Church Langley ;) ) Which store did you buy it from Nick, Chelmsford? Do you think they will still have stock on saturday?
  22. You should be able to ask for a settlement figure, the fine print in the contract is probably to cover them in case you just stopped paying. They would want the car back and the remaining payments.
  23. You can get clear stickers which is what I've used in the past. I've only bothered when going for more than a couple of days. I used Halfords own, but its probably worth checking what your dealers sells as they will be a better fit.
  24. A lot of auto boxes have that for kick down, it will always force it to go it to the lowest gear the revs allow.
