  1. Another one done - crikey ... :hocus-pokus: Hope it's a good one. Cheers TG
  2. I get routine services done at dealer + supply oil etc to avoid some rip off bits. Make sure I fill washer bottle just before it goes in too. Remember them trying to charge for washer fluid once and when I said it was already full they said they used some testing the washers If they find a problem that needs some extra work doing then I get that done at my local garage who also do my MOT's TG
  3. I had several sets of the Bridgestone RE040 tyres - as fitted from new. They weren't lasting very long - typically 7-10 thousand miles. Dealer did what they called a 'full alignment' on their 'Bear' machine couple of times to try and sort that problem out. Didn't work - and we now know the factory settings they were using won't make things better. Then I switched to the Dunlop Lexus specials which seemed better all round. Now I've got some 18" wheels with Good Year Eagle F1 GSD3 tyres on and have them inflated to 35psi all round. Had a 'proper' alignment done recently at WIM which definitely makes the car nicer to drive. Hopefully the quick eating of tyres is now just destined to be part of this ownership history. Not sure if the Bridgestones would have been much better if the car was properly aligned - got less noise from the Dunlops. Probably best to go for some better regarded tyres and avoid your dilemma altogether .. TG
  4. Quick note - the caliper service kit DOESN'T include slide pins. It's pretty much just a kit of bits for the hydraulic side of things. Can be seen here in the box labelled O4479. http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_2001_LEXU...EFVKW_4705.html TG
  5. During service dealer noted caliper starting to seize. Quote to supply and fit a new front caliper for me was just under 400 quid. I went for refurb option too and got good garage I know well to do the job for me. I supplied them with following genuine parts from Lexus dealer. Pistons £18 each - 2 per front caliper. Front caliper service kit £60 (does both sides). Front pad fitting kit £65. Front pad shim kit £37. Rear pad fitting kit £40. Rear pad shim kit £23. Soon mounts up and labour charges to fit a new caliper should be a lot less than to strip and refurb a dying one. With me being quite ( err let's make that very ) fussy rather than have caliper die again bought a set of four new ones for £400. Bonus was they can supply them pre-coloured too which will last better than the smoothrite I've used until now. So having got them here will get my local garage to stick them on for me - but no great rush as their refurb job is fine for now. TG
  6. I bought a set of new calipers from this company recently. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=370139383818 Not fitted them yet but they arrived quick and look very good. Boxes are marked 'EBC' which to me is a reassuring name to see. TG
  7. OK sincere apologies. I'm really not wanting to be rude or offend anybody. Just being a bit suspicious on the arrival and first post of user id 'Showroom Valet' which does sound a little bit trader like to me. TG
  8. Can you by any chance remember what brand that cleaner you used was ? I popped by Halfords earlier and they had a product like this from COMMA but about 12 quid. Says to do what you say with the can left emptying standing on the floor behind the front passenger seat .... Apparently out of stock of their own brand product so is that what you used ? TG
  9. Cold try japarts ebay shop ... http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/japartsltd__W0QQ_armrsZ1 They have the coils for £59.99 ... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-IS200-IGNITION...emZ260481613785 Or they have genuine ones for £97.99 ... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GENUINE-LEXUS-IS200-...emZ260478857038 Or direct to their website... http://www.japarts.co.uk/shop/ They seem to do lots of goodies for our cars TG
  10. Hello, I can recommend a great spray fabric protectant if your interested, I know the mats will still see dirt every so often but this product will help very much when it comes to giving the mats a clean in future. And this product is ???? Why not just mention it. Or do I detect an undercover trader about to try and drum up some business ?? TG
  11. Here's my post from near the start of this topic which it seems might still be useful It was back in March that I got those and they're still available .... 4 CR1616 batteries for £3.90 delivered .... TG
  12. One pretty common possibility round here is to reverse the polarity of the wiring to the ballast. On mine just plugged the ballast cable into the standard headlamp bulb connector the other (wrong) way round = job done ... Good luck. TG
  13. Just checked my keys for that too. On the back it says 'Denso 1512V'. I've had 2 of the 3 keys to bits and both had a Panasonic CR1616 battery inside. Getting a bit nervous now. Hope I'm not misinforming you TG
  14. I bought some of these a while ago mainly because they're even the same brand as standard ... Strip of 4 Panasonic CR1616 batteries £3.90 inc delivery. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=260294304062 TG
  15. Holts do a spray called 'Rubber and Nylon Lubricant' which I used on a few of my previous cars. Cured creaky / squeaky bushes for quite a while so perhaps that was what got used on yours. TG
  16. That was the set from the recent group buy. These ones are from a previous group buy which I bought from someone else here ... TG
  17. Hi. Found I've got a set of rings from a previous group buy which I bought from someone else on here. I never got round to fitting them but having seen sets from both group buys personally I prefer these ones. There's a slot to line up with the red line on the part they cover. You can have them for £25 delivered. Any use ? TG
  18. I was and they were snapped up in about 30 minutes so I'm not now .... TG
  19. That gear knob and set of stickers are same as were in my TRD quick shift set. TG
  20. I'd be worried about stretching a 225 tyre across a wheel 9.5 inches wide .... TG
  21. Sounds like an easy request but might not be quite so simple. That badge is bonded onto the mesh grille. Best of luck. TG
  22. My local dealer did mine several times using a machine which they called 'the bear'. Clearly that wasn't up to the job or they didn't know fully how to do it or possibly both. Mentioned it to Tony and he said it's not a system he would choose to use at all. TG
  23. Pleased to say I've finally joined the crowd of IS200 members getting their car sorted properly at W.I.M. As many will have read on these boards before the car was much better behaved on the journey home afterwards. Much less fidgety and not as fierce when on my local roads which are plagued with ruts from the huge amount of big trucks which frequent them. Can now drive quite relaxed only loosely holding the steering wheel and not have to keep correcting it to go in a straight line. Hopefully can now start having some reasonable life from a set of tyres too Cool bit of kit + expert who knows what it's for = yet another very grateful customer Thanks Tony for making this day out a nice adventure for me. TG
  24. Bought the same sort again ... Well impressed with how yours is now looking ... TG
  25. Super job ... Looks better than new I reckon ... Would indeed have been a waste if i had chucked it out At least I was right about the noise it makes ... TG
